So from the podcast ERC-4 to be released with at least a couple new features...
Sounds like its more than one... Inputs to the DAC seem to be a given these days. What other new features could be there? Maybe it will read the whole CD into memory and then play from memory? Maybe a USB input to the DAC?
Any other ideas?

Nope going with a drawer mechanism here. Inputs to the DAC, a USB input for your flash drive music content. Will have the same Reference Differential Drive with all that good stuff it does. Class 3 Laser pick up. Last one I am stretching on but hey it is cool to want. Dimmable display. Balanced XLR outs, unbalanced RCA outs, Toslink Optical, Coaxial Optical, and AES/EBU Digital out as well. And the remote control too. Will it be the metal remote? Don't know. These are my predictions anyway. Oh yeah, can't forget the awesome linear power supply and multiple segmented isolated power supplies for the various stages.

I say it has the built in thin-client streamer that will be an add-on module for the RMC-1...so you could play your CD's or streamed music through 1 device.

I would surprised if Emotiva doesn't have a thin client streamer. It makes total sense, but I can see just a fine traditional CD player too being made. I think the way our music is managed, you almost kind of expect streaming and more source syndication and sync with your network. It is the 21st century afterall.

what is a thin client streamer? Mark Too bad you need a masters degree in computer engineering to fully undertand that video. Its like trying to understand Japanese. I liken it to the shipping industry where they use terms that make no sense just to make it harder for normal people to understand. Freight on board and bill of lading for example. My head is spinning.

A lot of discussion already in this thread here. emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/49911/thoughts-erc-4Just off the top of my head right now.... I'd like to see it made for right handed people (the ERC-3 is for lefties). Digital inputs to be able to use the DAC. Streaming capability. Definitely a tray loader, not a slot. Fast loading. Direct track access buttons on the remote. Instead of buttons for track advance on the front of the unit, a larger knob that ticks slightly when you turn it. Dimmable display.

Back to mid mounted to suit both 👍 (or does that just suit neither? 😁)

More proof the Silver & Black is SO GOOD LOOKING! Slot loaders, eh. Tray loader wins for functionality, ergonomics, and less risk of disc damage (especially for wives and kids).
