I asked this a while back, but I don't think I received an answer. Should we have received something to activate Dirac online, or is that to come to all owners once released by Emotiva for the RMC?

You will receive an activation code and some additional kit as soon as it's released. I asked this a while back, but I don't think I received an answer. Should we have received something to activate Dirac online, or is that to come to all owners once released by Emotiva for the RMC?

I don't understand why we don't get smaller updates more frequently. Seems like instead of trying to fix all problems in one FW update (which never works anyway) why not just do smaller updates (say 1.7.1 etc) that fixes specific problems. It seems like that is what most other companies do. It's because they are, in terms of experience, very young at software development. There's a difference in being able to code, and coding best practices, and you can see their relative youth in this area as they continue to make all of the classic software dev mistakes made when one "reinvents the wheel" and tries to learn on their own, vs. having seasoned large-scale program vets who already know how to make the wheel. I would guess they can't afford hiring pros and are managing a group of, most likely offshore developers, themselves. Perfectly understandable when you have budget constraints which limit your viable options. Perfectly understandable if you remember what happened in the original Jurassic Park !

Do I have to contact them, or will it be something global (as with the NAD)?
I haven't registered mine, or can't remember.
really wish to get the RMC-1 back to normal, and then Dirac is planned.
Will there be a specific information? We had here lots of rumours about how many memory slots we will get on the RMC-1 to store Dirac. Are these then additional to the 2 existing Speaker 1 and Speaker 2? thanks in advance.

^^^^ CEODan mentioned in one of his past 2019 Pod Casts that there should be multiple Dirac Presets ... his tone made one think this was an obvious need.

Rumors are great fun....
We are still finalizing the details of how the Dirac functionality will be integrated into our code. (There will be multiple Dirac presets... but exactly how many, and how they will appear in the menu, has not been finalized yet.)

Good to hear about more than one Dirac preset. But, the response seems to imply we will be waiting for some time if the specifications haven’t been finalized no less the coding and testing. Wonder if first quarter is still a reasonable expectation. Doesn’t sound like it

Wonder if first quarter is still a reasonable expectation. Doesn’t sound like it I would honestly put the over under at July for Dirac. I’m not trying to be mean, and I hope I am wrong. But we have heard far too many times overly optimistic release times with almost everything RMC-1 repeated. I know they are trying their best, but this project has really been daunting for Emotiva.

We've already been testing the Dirac code for some time. Tying it in to the menu system is a very small part of the overall project... and this is a very minor detail of that part.
At the moment we are expecting to be ready to go some time in March. Good to hear about more than one Dirac preset. I think Emotiva might be able to release in March like what Keith mentioned, but I also think Emotiva needs at a minimum, July time frame to be bug free enough for most folks

Keith, could you make it atleast 4 Dirac presets please? Also add two more ordinary presets (eight total) please..

We've already been testing the Dirac code for some time. ... Probably for 2 chls. How about 16 chls? How about testing dirac with more than 16 chls with channel expansion card? Bass Mgt update? Thx.

An update on the elusive channel expansion modules would be appreciated, along with a stable firmware release prior to Dirac dropping. Not sure I'm going to keep the RMC-1 past the 30-day "trial period" if I can't truly evaluate what I was promised when I bought it in 2018.

Another thing, owners need to routinely voice there opinion on upmixer needs. This means you need to call EMO. The lack of input is leading EMO to believe upmixers are low priority.
1. Enable DD and DTS cross upmixing. 2. DTS:X Pro

Also, owners with loud noise on start up or when using RMC-1 need to routinely call EMO with details. EMO thinks this is low priority.
1. What was the sound format when loud noise happened; 2. What was the sound format before and after when loud noise happened. i.e. did the sound formats change when loud noise happened.
Call EMO.

Is anyone else having to reseat the HDMI cable to your display everytime you switch inputs or turn on your sources? I leave my RMC and both XPA amps on 24x7 because of the network issue I have. The only time I reboot the RMC is when it locks up or because very slow to respond which is a few times a week. (1.7.6) So far all of my issues have been annoyances, but it is frustrating. I'm thankful to not have had the issues you guys are having, but it is likely due to my simple set up. Vizio TV, HTPC, XBOX ONE X. To be honest, my set up if far more stable now than it was prior to using the processor and the Emotiva power strip. I had constant handshake issues, like... A dozen per movie, and an annoying grounding buzz that I never could seem to eliminate. The noise is now gone and I haven't had a single rehandshake event since. I guess my frustration lies with the cash spent versus the types of issues that are still present. While I am eagerly awaiting Dirac, I have a lot of patience with "new functionality" However, there are basic table stakes that should be rock solid everytime you go to use your gear. Even if nothing changes from this point forward, I do not regret my purchase. I'm not sure you can get this SQ from anyone else at this price point and I'm not sure I want to spend 5 figures for a processor.
It seems that stability and "time to market" Are the only things holding Emotiva back from gaining respect and market share. These things are easily fixed with the right people and cash. I trust they have a plan and will figure it all out.

In fact, it's not decoding at all. How much DTS:X Pro material is out there?

The restriction to selecting upmixing should be removed because no competitor is doing this and it should not be difficult. 2. DTS:Pro - perhaps after Dirac. 1.8 Firmware with "Power on Input" and a fix for muted channels on the ATV4k (MAT 2.0) 5.1 sources would boost FAF (Family Approval Factor) tremendously. - Rich
