Let’s be clear about the Klipsch that I heard. The Best Buy store I went to had a Magnilia store within. I listened to the current reference line from Klipsch and they sounded to me as I described. As far as I am concerned the only electronics that can make a speaker sound better is Linn equipment. If you have to ask how much Linn equipment cost the you cannot afford it. Okay, just to add to this conversation. The Klipsch Reference line is their entry level. Then comes Reference Premier, then comes RF, then comes Heritage...so no, you didn't listen to the best Klipsch, far from it. By the way, they get confusing and change by the year. That's here nor there, if you don't like the Klipsch sound so be it. Second Linn nor any other equipment manufacturer makes speakers sound better, crap speakers will still sound like crap no matter what you play through them. The job of any audio equipment it to accurately recreate the original recording, not improve upon it. On the other hand excellent speakers won't make your music sound better, only more accurate. The result of that is that you hear any flaws you may have overlooked before. Pros and cons to both. Anyways, do yourself a favor and go to an actual audio shop and listen to different kinds of speakers to see what you prefer. Ribbon tweeters? Horns? Silk Domes? Titanium? Every speaker has a sonic signature. Some bass heavy, some need subs to round them out. The best I can offer you is that Emotiva has a thirty day in home trial period where if you don't like them after that time, you simply pay shipping to send them back and get a refund to move on.

I did go to Best Buy for the Klipsch demo. They had the top of the line Klipsch speakers and I did not like the sound. The B&W was demoed at a high end audio retailer (Definitive Audio). Are you in the Seattle area?

As far as the Emotiva Speakers go, it would be nice to listen to them before buying. Given where I live that is likely not going to happen. I'll second the point about budget, but I will also add...the Emotiva T2's for FR/FL are some of the only speakers I'd look at to replace my Maggies. But, I have no plan to replace my Maggies. The only drawback of Maggies for home theater is that they are very tall. So, if you have a very large screen/projector (I have a 106" projector screen), you have to place the speakers very wide to not interfere with the projection. But, if you have the room width to handle that, they sound great set wide with me ~13-14' away. Just saw your budget...if the $3K is for all the speakers + sub, I'd go Emotiva for everything but maybe consider a sub from Rythmik (their servo subs are awesome, IMHO). Mark Have you heard the T2's and Emotiva's other surround speakers?

We can't recommend anything until you tell us your priorities AND BUDGET!! Did I say Budget, yes BUDGET. How much money are you willing to spend and for how many speakers? Is your priority music or movies? What kind of movies/music? Big Action movies? Small intimate movies? Jazz? Blues? My favorite speakers that I have heard recently are Monitor Audio Gold ($2,840 EACH). I also really like Totem Acoustic Forest Signatures ($6,500 per Pair). I can't afford either of them, but I like them. I have had good luck with speakers from Dali Zensor Line (soon to be obsoleted) and the replacement Oberon line looks really good. These are fairly affordable with the most expensive Oberon 7 being $1,300 (maybe $1,400 per pair). Monitor Audio Silver series sounds good also. Floorstanders from $1,500 to $2,500 per pair. There always budget options available, Elac Debut line comes to mind. Then there are internet direct- Emotiva, Chane Audio, Tekton.... This all barely scratches the surface. Other Brands- Martin Logan, Kef, Klipsch.. Its really endless.. Sorry. Budget and listening preference heps to narrow down the list. I 2nd Totem Acoustics speakers. Excellent value on secondary market.

I have not heard the surrounds, but people whose ears I trust have upgrades the old ones to the new ones and say they are even better. Lounge member geebo has both T2's and their surrounds, IIRC. The T2's are very good indeed and the new surrounds (E2) are an improvement over the excellent discontinued ERD-1s with the addition of the air motion transformer tweeters. And the C2 center matches them perfectly.

Are you in the Seattle area? Yes I am in the Seattle area. I live in Sammamish just north of Issaquah. I'm not far from you, the Arlington/Stanwood area. I have a pair of PSB Goldi speakers sitting in the back of my media room that are looking for a new home. I hooked them up recently and they sounded great. You're more than welcome to listen to them and I'd make you a great deal. I'll also throw in the Signal bi-wire cables they use. I originally purchased them from Upscale audio. They do have a few dings and scars, but they're solid....

As I ndicated I have narrowed it down to either the Magnepan or Emotiva.

I probably should have mentioned that I do have a matching center and surround speakers all PSB. I forgot about the center and surrounds because a friend has them in his shop to sell. If you change your mind or are curious, hit me up. I'll make you a fantastic deal...plus I can get you a project turntable, and a bunch of accessories. I have stuff to clear out (seems to be a side effect of this hobby) and I hate to list things on craigslist and don't want to ship things I'm letting go of on the cheap. Good luck and enjoy the process...

Well the OP surely did not hear these Klipsches at BestBuy, .... Klipschorns: Longest running speaker in continuous production. And, NO, you will not find them at Best Buy.

What Klipsch speakers did you hear that sounded bad? With a $3k budget I can't imagine. Same goes for B&W. Sounds like you visited Best Buy I bought an original pair of Klipsch Heresy for my son's first system. I found them very accurate and they sounded quite nice a lower volumes but found the mid and tweeter horns were too harsh with volume. As for the B&W speakers at Best Buy, hooked to big McIntosh monoblocks, is that they were bass shy BUT I've never heard a better tweeter - clear and fluid; the mids were good but nothing special.
Picking speakers for someone else is useless IMO. We all have different ears; likes and dislikes.

Has anyone mentioned Legacy Speakers. Probably the best made speakers in the USA today.

Can the T2’s be placed on top of a 12 inch sub?

They most likely can if the sub is big enough.
