I’m looking for a minimum set of 4 ceiling speakers for my Atmos setup. Don’t want anything too fancy or expensive but able to do a very good job at presentation of each channel.
I’ve seen a few suggestions over the past year but there seems to be no spot that lists most or all of those suggestions. Maybe this could be that spot. I have looked around the net and have found everything from cheap schiit to “you want How much per speaker?” 🤯🤑🤮
Suggestions with actual use and reviews will be received and biewed with much higher regard.
Also would like to know what wire gauge most are using for lets say 25’ - 30’ ?

I have these from Monoprice www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=13683&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIsabz47PG3wIVw7jACh3DtQqpEAQYASABEgJhAvD_BwE8” Alpha in ceiling. They are on sale for $89 a pair so all in you would be under $200. I had a pair of 6.5” Klipsch before and these were a step up, but the difference is fairly marginal. I just don’t think the Atmos sound tracks put enough big sounds to those top speakers to really justify buying anything too expensive. These run off my A-700 amp and I’m very happy with them.

Also I am running 12 gauge wire, but I’m pretty sure that’s overkill. 14 would be more than adequate IMO.

Just not me to the above statement. I started with Klipsch quintets as atmos speakers. And then upgraded to the volt 6. It was. HUGE upgrade to the immersion. Don’t skimp.

Honestly they are just guidelines. My ceiling is 7.5’ and I have on ceiling speakers. And it’s phenominal.

When I was in your position, I did what I felt was the most logical thing, and bought speakers made from the same company as the rest of my system, Def Tech. I originally thought that since my mains, center, and side surrounds use a 6.5" cone, that I would by their 6.5" ceiling speaker to match. But I gave them a call and they asked me a few questions about my room, one being ceiling height. My room is 92" tall, or not quite 8 feet. At that height, they recommended their 8" series, because they have a wider dispersion pattern. They said both the 6.5" and 8" would do a great job with voice matching, but the 8" would sound more diffuse. So I went with the 8".
I hope that helps. I know that's where I would start my search, with the brand you already have.

I've got Dynaudios in my ceiling and I am happy with them.

Unfortunately Paradigm has no interest in Atmos or ceiling speakers any more. They did for years but now I can oly find older models from retailers. I will e-mail to ask them a few questions but I believe it will be just a Waiste of time. So now I’m back at square one. I may cancel my RMC-1 before taking delivery if a few problems are not resolved by Emotiva and the film industry. Why buy a processor that can’t fulfill its design abilities?

Why buy a processor that can’t fulfill its design abilities? So much truth. This has almost nixed my idea of adding another pair of ceiling speakers to my room. Which has also quite possibly negated my need to upgrade my prepro. Are you looking for in ceiling or on ceiling ? It looks as though paradigm still has their architectural series which would be installed in your ceiling. Not sure how well they’d match to your studios.

Bonzo used good logic in trying to keep the same manufacturer, but really with the full range room/tonal correction software being used these days, the slight tonal differences in speakers from differing manufacturers is not as problematicas it used to be. I have an older, cheaper line of Sonus Faber speakers for my 7 ear level positions and 4 - 8" Emotiva ceiling mtd. speakers (UAC 8.2, no longer sold). I have 2 UAC 8.2 on hand for going to 7.1.6 when I am ready to splurge. These rather inexpensive ceiling speakers sound just fine. Of course I live in a ranch house with accessible attic space above my theater room. 14 gage wire is more than adequate for these small speakers even up to 25' or 30'.

I doubt it matters as much as a center channel anyway. As to go from here, after you contact them, I can't really offer any more advice.

I missed their architectural series. Their web design needs help. I looked at their Home Theater Stereo section and there was no mention of ceiling speakers! HT doesn’t include Atoms ceiling speakers? Really? A little messed up there IMO! Does Atmos really requires , utilize the abilities of a $300 to $1000. Speaker? Times four? 🤔🤯

I was able to find my $300+ speakers on Amazon for $190. So if you look around or get with a dealer, you might be able to find them cheaper. Even if its only $50 cheaper, that $200 total savings.

Otherwise I probably wouldn’t have known either. Personally I enjoy the level of detail my volts can provide. I’m sure some Polk or Emotiva in ceiling speakers would be adequate. But.. for another couple hundred you don’t ask yourself. What if??

Anybody familiar with RSL speakers? These have been suggested and seem to be reasonably priced if they’re good speakers? I haven’t a clue but don’t want to spend a fortune! Thoughts?
