The only thing I see wrong with the release notes is the rather simple grammar that’s used. Our tech writers would make things sound a little more professional so I suspect that the developers’ are from overseas. But that’s a minor point. Congrats on Monoprice for delivering Dirac, if the 12/27 release date sticks, is this the first “new” unit in 2019 to get Dirac? If the date sticks, yea. If it gets pushed back to the New Year than possibly Arcam may have a release ready by then. Then the JBL is supposed to drop around February with Dirac included....which I would hope considering the later release date. The uncertainty for all of them is Dirac Bass Managment, but even Dirac doesn't have their own ETA for that I think. Not asking to throw mud at Emotiva, but is the Bass Management module going to be supported by Emotiva in the future? Or would that be another software they'd have to write themselves on top of "standard" Dirac?
Emotiva has said they would support the bass management module but it would be an extra cost license. Considering that it’s an add on module, it would make sense that Emotiva would need to code the interface software to Dirac’s API. I’m still worried with the basic Dirac Live delivery. Once that is done, they will have experience with Dirac’s API so the additional modules shouldn’t be as difficult. But like I said, first thing first. I expect unless a miracle happens, Emotiva will continue to be behind on Dirac vs these MDS platforms...I almost smell a conspiracy theory lol. The big fish not letting the little fish eat 😉

Great, they are officially in the game. Is there a specific forum/resource to connect with for the early adopter insights?

In the forum they said they were going to have a few available. So that could have meant three. At least they finally met the delayed timeframe. It’s good that there will be some production units out in the wild. It’ll be interesting how things unfold but if it’s a solid unit with Dirac, then look out! I can see lots of people choosing this unit over Emotiva. I also just read that if the unit is under warranty then Monoprice pays for shipping vs the annoying Emotiva process where we have to pay for shipping one way to Emotiva.

Agree 100%, LscDirac is my key decision factor going forward.

First user report it being very stable. Hdmi switch is fast and stable. CEC and ARC work as expected. It also sounds good (compared to RMC they owner reported). Dirac 2.0 is delivered with the unit. Although there are features that did not come with release.
This can become a big problem for Emotiva if they don’t fix their issues soon..

hsamwel. Agree 💯 Why do the Emotiva boxes take 20 seconds or more to change inputs? Why no Dirac 2 support in the future proof XMC-1. Why the possible end of the XMC-1 upgrade program? I’m losing faith in the company, other than amps.

While that's not an issue for me, Emotiva has said they are re-coding to allow faster/more stable switching by not having to check for/account for DSD inputs. Hopefully, Emotiva will have that out soon so customers can more readily compare Emotiva options to Monoprice. (Also, 1 good user report is a good start...will be interested to see how things end up with multiple users. Might be fine or...not) Mark

I’m losing faith in the company, other than amps. Per Lonnie, I believe, a reason for the long switching times on the RMC/et al is that they are having it check for DSD inputs before switching to avoid DSD issues. They are re-coding to have it not do this UNLESS the user says DSD may be coming from a particular source. This is supposed to decrease switching time. We'll see how much. Re. why no Dirac 2 support, they've been clear on that...for the specific chips they are using Dirac has to provide specific files needed for Dirac to work. These files are not generic and are specific to the chip used. If Monoprice uses a different chip than Emotiva is using, the files may be available. Hopefully Dirac resolves that quickly for Emotiva. Per Tech Day news, Emotiva has the files for 2 channel but not yet for multi-channel. Emotiva was hoping to get those files about now - but they are not in control of timing. Hopefully, we will have an update on that soon. Re. why an eventual end to the XMC-1 upgrade program...I'll spin that a different way. I feel grateful they offered it in the first place, and I fully expect that it would - at some point - end. They didn't have to make the initial offer, and most companies would not. Mark

The design of that thing looks like it might appeal to Tesla Cybertruck buyers.

One thing which I think is odd about the HTP-1 is that it doesn't have Balanced XLR Analog Inputs. Just two Unbalanced RCA sets.
Other than that, it looks like a reasonable set of features for its price point.

My RMC-1 doesn't take 20secs or more using one of my Harmony Remote Activities, maybe 8 to 10sec. As for Dirac 2.0, above Mark has stated what is known.

Yes - they did say the trade-in offer would end at some point. They have not published a date yet, but they said they would give ample notice. They said it at Tech Day. Here's the notes on that: Mark

I’m losing faith in the company, other than amps. Absolutely agree on your first points. No excuse for either. As for the end of the trade in, keep in mind that historically Emotiva has been almost as bad at website design/maintenance as they are with processor software development. Pages appear and disappear all the time. There are constant mistakes, errors, and missing information. I don’t think this has anything to do with ending the program. This is par for the Emotiva course. Things Emotiva is not: • A software development t company • A website design firm (still awaiting official confirmation) There is no way it takes 20 seconds to change inputs. Maybe 7 to 10 at the most. Website maintenance has improved over the years, but certainly lags behind real time. I think the "future proof" XMC-1 was a dream that unfortunately hit reality for the company. It was upgradeable to a certain extent, but has hit a wall. My current concern now is audio issues that need resolution on the XMC-2 as well as the release of Dirac.
