Do you use the grills that came with your speakers?

I own three pair of tekton speakers in which one came without grills. The one that did my son pushed the dust cap in luckily I was able to use a vacuum and pull it out; I've left them on ever since. The rest of my collection all have grills and I leave them on with the rare occasion that I either just want to see them in action or I'm showing them off.

Back in the day, one day I came home from work to find my 3 year old daughter sitting in front of my JBL L36 speakers with the grills off and, yes she had completely picked all of the surround foam off of the woofer. The cone hanging there by the voice coil, I almost cried. I took the speakers to an authorized JBL repair center and the guy there told me she did me a favor, because the speakers were 12 years old and that I would appreciate the rebuild when he was done. Now it grand-children who most likely carry the same genes...... I usually keep them on.

Some of my Klipsch speakers I just keep the grills on, nothing much to see anyways. I never really understood taking grills off anyways. When my kids were small all of the grills on, little prodding fingers loved to pop in and out on the pretty copper cones.

My LCR Chane towers reside behind my AT screen so the grills are off

If I’m doing “Critical Listening” I take them off of my Legacy Audio Focus SEs. It makes a disturbingly large difference in the high end. I would have hoped that they’d be more accosictally transparent, but they’re not ...

Depends on the speaker. Some (most?) speakers, the grills are "after-thoughts," and interfere with the imaging. But some speakers (my Thiel CS-1.6 speakers, for example) were "voiced" by the manufacturer with the grills in place, and are intended to be used with their grills. So I'd say that unless my grandson is visiting or I'm using the Thiels, the grills are normally off.

My mains I always leave the grills off, for music it just seems a slight improvement in detail and imaging. My center and surrounds I leave the grills on.

My son's ears are younger and much more discerning than mine, listened to my Tekton's with grills on and off and noticed a difference in clarity with grills removed so they stay off. Dirac is good but the Tekton's still sound cleaner sans grills. IMHO

I have Paradigm speakers, and they recommend the grills on.

Do you use the grills that came with your speakers? I keep The grilles on to keep the dust out of the drivers. Sort of a shame because the systems are uniquely beautiful and all of The midrange and tweeters have their own individual metal protective screens to protect the domes. Additionally, the woofers have ABS type material screens to afford a level of protection. Bill

New to the Emotiva audio game, bought used Emotiva ERT8.3's...to me they sound good either way, they replaced Klipsch KSF 10.5's. Bought a like new ERC-3 Gen2 the other day, lady asked me if I'd be interested in a "free" speaker her Ex left behind ( like the ERC-3)....I said sure. It was a Revel F-208 Performa3, which I never heard of....it had a crack on the back side of the speaker enclosure but when I hooked it up sounded better than the ERT 8.3.....BTW it looks awesome without the grill ( took me awhile to get to the main point).

Depends on what beauty there is under the grills. With Kef R300 (and the Paradigm Monitor series I owned before that), the grills can stay off. If they look anything like Tekton where you see ugly bolts and screws and something that looks like it was built in my shed out back, then I would prefer grills.

Grills on. I have a six year old and a three year old. I would not have in tact speakers if I did not use the grills, lol.
