All True, DavidR.
Why is the amp having problem.....right to Root Cause.
Big PS caps don't like a lot of AC.....or Ripple. I suggested earlier a problem with the Bridge Rectifier.....usually a single package with 4 high current diodes 'back to back'.
If just one of those Diodes was 'leaky' or outright failed, that might account for what the OP is seeing.
His tech needs to get to root, rather than just replacing failed parts......

Thanks again everyone for all your valuable advice. As mentioned there is definitely something else amiss with the amp. Hopefully the tech can get to the cause, once he has it back on the bench. He said he will liaise with emotiva with the repair as previous, and I will pass on all the knowledge that has been gained from the awesome replies As already stated the caps were only my focus as he had a lot of troubling sourcing once emotiva stated they could not supply them (think he needed it last time for close to 6 months!). I now know why the tech was frustrated with sourcing parts! Hopefully this amps issues are a one off, and all other owners can enjoy theirs for years to come. Again in hindsight I should have just sent the amp back to emotiva, as the original repair was a few hundred in labour anyway. Live and learn. Will be interesting if they get a run of these amps returned in the US for warranty work, will they simply refund people???
