XMC-2 announcement: The existing upgrade Atmos board to the XMC-1 that was previously announced isn't happening. Having two separate OS paths with the different chips were going to be far too expensive and time consuming for the engineering team. Instead, we will offer an upgrade path to a brand new XMC-2 unit with a trade in program. For any person who owns an XMC-1 with the V3 board, you can upgrade to a brand new XMC-2 for $650. If you have an XMC-1 without the V3 board, it will be $1,050 to upgrade. Basically getting a brand new unit for the price of what the Atmos board upgrade was going to be. We will have an official announcement hitting the site soon but wanted to give you the heads up first. Now that is a nice solution! Mark

Any products that have MQA capabilities? No plans to offer MQA in anything right now. How about Roon ready? I see that as a "must"...and given it can be worked into a $35 R-Pi...seems like cost should not be a barrier. Mark

Mark Lonnie mentioned working with DTS to make a module that will have a streaming solution. I did not ask whether or not it will be Roon compliant.

Interesting might do it after it is proven that XMC-2 is absolutely trouble free. Please keep in mind that for international customers this might be still a rather expensive solution. Maybe do some thing with serial numbers an the original purchase order to get an interesting discount...

That sounds like they’re exploring DTS “Play-Fi” which I don’t believe is Roon ready at this time.

Brings up a question on original owners rights vis a vis 2nd hand ..Understanding your the former of course . Would be extremely generous of Emo to allow upgrades for what is for all intents and purposes any 2nd hand XMC1 market ? I imagine serial numbers and original invoice lists will be very handy We'll see . With this new paradigm those who have just sold their XMC1 would have mixed feelings possibly;its certainly rewarding of patience - swapping 7.1.4 for 9.1.6 and possibly more sub flexibility Its no coincidence that this revelation is linked to competition likely from the Monoprice HTP-1 and Acurus Muse 16 ; of course neither of them have 4 L/C/R+sub dual differential channels .. Stability will be key of course.

And, like I said before...if $35 computer cards can be, then it shouldn't be that hard. Similarly, small companies like Small Green Computer can do it, to. Mark

Hi Nick As an original owner of the XMC-1 right from the early days, this is interesting, but could we ask that you think about how to make this work for international customers. Are you planning to be able to fulfil this through you international distis, or just direct? Since I bought my XMC long before you guys had a disti in the UK, I doubt they'd be too interested in helping out. At the least, if it's direct, think about timing - allow us to get the XMC-2 prior to returning the XMC-1 so we don't have to go weeks without a proc. Basically, you've got lots of international customers out here all around the world, so please think about how to make these things work for us as well. ta pete S

I'd love to see those XMC-1 trade-ins refurbished and sold by Emotiva. They could laser etch "refurb" on the back panel to disallow trade for XMC-2 and put a one year warranty on it. Price should be at about a thousand bucks without Dirac.
I could use a couple of nice 7.1 processors for my bedroom and living room.
