Current setup - Denon AVR3400 Superstat 50 as L/R Superstat 60 as Center Supersat 3s as rears Room is 12 1/2" feet * 11 1/2" feet with vaulted ceiling and left side of room opens up to the kitchen. I have cleaned up the front of the room and Audio gear is in another room to give this room more space. Space wise I could put the sub on the right wall next to the couch. See attached drawing I edited from SVS. Orange line marks opening to kitchen. Red is L Couch and the black rectangle is the door to a spare room. So between that door and the couch width wise 15" max. Probably wouldn't want the sub higher than 17" either. Room use is probably 60% HT and 40% music. 1) Would this work well? 2) If Max budget is $800 these are what I have down on a list so far. Any I should add? SVS SAB-1000 Airmotiv S10 SVS SB-2000 Airmotiv S12 JL Dominion d108-Ash - Can demo this at local shop Rythmik L12

Budget would need a few more dollars and/or catch a B-stock sub. Love what my PSA subs do for my music and HT.

No matter the brand look at 2 Subwoofers. Makes for more dynamic swing and easier tuning too.

I have it dialed about halfway and it will still cleanly and perfectly compress your skeleton. One of the best audio purchases I’ve ever made.

Dual S10's would be $900, so not terribly outside your budget. But if you go single sub really any of the ones you have listed here are good. I would add (and actually really look at buying) the Monoprice Monolith 12" THX ported subwoofer. I have read nothing but great things about them, and the 12" is right at $799 EDIT: I didn't notice your size requirement, the monoprice is a little too high (22")

Thinking 3 dimensionally, the subwoofer shares the air volume with the kitchen and the audio room, and the low frequency dispersion could work very smoothly up front from your sweet listening spot. I do similar in my own environment, though the front left has a partition, part of a six foot breezeway to the dining area. Bill

Pound for pound regardless of price best sounding subwoofers. But I did miss his measurements. Price shouldn’t be an issue as second hand would be well below budget

Fairly small form factor and higher output = JL Subwoofer.
The 108 is a nice little sub, but see if you can stretch your budget and get the 10"

What is the width between the right speaker and the door?

I actually have on wall front speakers. We are trying to keep the front wall clean if at all possible. Especially the right side since it goes into the other room.

SVS SAB-1000 Airmotiv S10 SVS SB-2000 Airmotiv S12 JL Dominion d108-Ash - Can demo this at local shop Rythmik L12 I wouldn't put much value into a demo at a shop. IMO you must hear it in your own room in your designated position to make a valid buying decision. I would not buy a sub under any circumstances that did not allow a full refund (no credit allowance) in a reasonable time. Even a week is fine if you are ready to test it out thoroughly. As for one sub only, that is exactly the situation I had in my approx 12 x 13 ft room open to one side into living room and kitchen. Many of us just can't fit in two subs. Not all is lost. Once before I used (don't laugh) a 32 band quality mono equalizer. The noise level was very good and I used, if my memory is correct about the bottom 7 sliders to flatten out the low bass response. Worked very well. My current sub is too large for your spot, too bad since it is a great and beautiful Outlaw Audio sub with top inlaid Plexiglas top with satin black sides. The wife loves the way it look besides our sofa. It is about a foot away from the side and rear wall and ended up sounding excellent with very little adjustments. I would go perhaps for the SVS SB-2000 (piano gloss black). High quality subs from a solid company. Keep it out from that wall a few inches if possible. Not sure how much adjustments a $600 AVR might have for the sub. If you suddenly find an extra $800 laying on the sidewalk outside a bar, you might fit a second one next to the left speaker. I think you might be surprised how great that fairly small sealed sub will sound for music and movies. A second choice at a very attractive $500 is the Emo S10. BTW: Sorry, I see I'm a little late on this thread. I'm in Japan an my brain is very fuzzy as usual. Hai!
