I don't know all the details about that at this point. I suspect it may just be a software upgrade - which comes directly from Dirac.
From Dirac's previous "roadmap" I was under the impression that there were three "bass module upgrades" planned... At that time it sounded like the first was relatively trivial, involving only "better visualization of the measurements", and was free... The other two involved actual upgrades in how bass and multiple subs were calibrated - and would not be free. From what I could tell all of these involved the calibration software on the computer.
We'll know more for sure after the initial release... and when the upgrades themselves are available.
The new processors are to include a full Dirac license. I had forgotten all about this! Thanks for the reminder that I don't need to shell out the $$ for this. I actually had it factored-in as part of the cost of upgrading. But the Bass Management module (Release date – Late 2O19 (yes, that's what it still says on dirac.com)) is additional, correct?edit: this is what happens when you begin to make a post, get distracted (work), and not check to see if more posts have occurred.

But the Bass Management module (Release date – Late 2O19 (yes, that's what it still says on dirac.com)) is additional, correct? The latest I saw (and I think it was on the Dirac site) is that the bass management module for one sub would be something like $249 and for multiple subs $349. So, save $99, pay $349. I can pay $1 a week for 349 weeks.

The new version of Dirac is totally different than the old one... The new version is included with the XMC-2, RMC-1, and RMC-1L. It is equivalent to the previous "full" version - although it is actually quite a bit improved and has more features.
When the XMC-1 was originally sold it included a license to the LE version of Dirac Live (this license was NOT transferable). Users who wished to were able to purchase an upgrade to the FULL version of Dirac Live for $99 (this license was also not transferable). In addition, folks who purchased a used XMC-1 (which came without a Dirac Live license), were also able to purchase a license for the FULL version of Dirac Live for $99. NONE OF THESE LICENSES IS TRANSFERABLE. (Although, since the license is tied to the owner and not the unit, someone who owns multiple XMC-1's can use a single Dirac Live FULL license for all of them.)
NONE OF THESE LICENSES CAN BE USED WITH THE NEW VERSION OF DIRAC LIVE AND THE NEW VERSION OF DIRAC LIVE IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE XMC-1.
First off...you've brought up a perfectly fair issue and it deserves a response... When we initially started planning the Atmos upgrade for the XMC-1 we planned to offer it in the form of a replacement board...
At that time we expected the board to cost between $600 and $800. Keith, what about the Dirac FULL license, purchased with XMC-1? The old device is returned with FULL Dirac. This license seems to be not suitable for use with the new device - is it correct? At the moment I'm in the trade-in procedure and Tim just response to me: "No, Dirac is not a refundable item." Would you please comment this? Alexander

Hey guys quick question. I am an original owner of an XMC-1, I was an early adopter and purchased it in August 2014 and it is no longer under warranty and still has the original hdmi board installed. Now that it is no longer under warranty am I still eligible for the upgrade? Thanks for any responses,

I was early on the list but one month behind you in receiving mine so I was in the same position as you. Even though the warranty (which began in December 2014 when Dirac became available) "expired" I was told by email that this didn't matter. Send Emotiva an email. sales@emotiva.com

Their approach changed a couple weeks ago so if you go to the XMC-2 trade in page you can read what is currently being offered. You can always send a separate email and wait a day or two, maybe three, for a response saying they know you exist. Also, you can confirm eligibility if that is a concern.

Send Emotiva an email. sales@emotiva.com As KeithL has stated a few times in the past, as long as you were the original owner, or the owner of an XMC-1 whose original warranty had been transferred to you before it expired. There are different trade-in amounts depending on which HDMI board you have though.

Thanks, emailed them again to see what is going. Not sure about eligibility, was purchased with the 40% discount where they go on about having bought for full retail. Can't recall that from previous eligibility specs or never noticed it. I did upgrade to the latest HDMI very soon after it was released. See what happens. Cheers

I got the email but passed on the trade-in for now. Still thinking about it, but need Dirac Live, my XMC-1 is doing "ok", and have another processor in the wings awaiting time to install so not in a hurry. Told them to let the next person in line know. You're welcome.

Told them to let the next person in line know. You're welcome. I did the same thing. Got my email Thursday but passed, for now, as well. With all the traveling I'm going to be doing soon, and with some more stability needed, I'm going to wait it out for a bit. My XMC-1 works like a champ and sounds fantastic still. No hurry for the time being.

I received the email on Thursday and placed my order. This morning I listened to my XMC-1 one last time and packed it up. I'm Pumped! The “Shipping Instructions” email wasn’t clear to me. I was under the impression that Emotiva sends us a shipping label, or am I wrong? I sent an email asking about this but if anyone knows, I’d appreciate a little help.

I too am going through the trade-in process right now, and according to the last e-mail I got, it says, “Thank you for completing your order for your XMC-1 Trade-In! Please use the following steps when sending your XMC-1 back. We will send a shipping label to you via email.”
