I'm considering doing the trade on on my XMC-1 for an XMC-2. RMC-1 is the longer end goal but that's another story. I'm in Canada and the two shipping options are UPS Standard or DHL Express Worldwide. Has anyone done the shipping/trade into Canada? As I understand it the customs/duties/brokerage may be significantly higher with UPS than DHL. Looking for opinions and experiences.
thx

Just got an email from Breanna of Emotiva Sales confirming what you said. Very nice! Looks like you are looking good to go! My wife is going to be in Europe for 2 weeks so I pulled the trigger to upgrade from the XMC-1 to the XMC-2. I have the Stealth 8 and the high-end has not been my preference since having the B&W 802 as my previous speakers. My XMC-1 was a very stable and flawless device so I look forward to having a new warranty and seeing if the new Dirac can brighten up my speakers plus the 4K. I am nervous but optimistic on this one. My listening room is not ideal as my wife has me off-axis with the couch on side of the room and no seating center stage. regards LINK: Living Room with wifes design no center stage

Per the latest podcast, program ends at the end of the year. If you've been waiting, better hustle.

I'm debating whether to upgrade. I'm not exactly pushing the XMC-1 to its limits, but it would be nice to get HDMI updated to 2.0b, the new audio formats, a new 5 year warranty, and presumably better resale value than my XMC-1.

Seems to me that you've talked yourself into it, and your reasoning seems to be quite thorough. And unfortunately I thought of another reason. Right now I've got Roku built into the TV, so I'm making use of the ARC to get sound. We are trying out an AppleTV 4k this weekend and if it goes well, I could see us getting one for this room. Then I could switch to connecting my devices first to the XMC and I'd want HDMI 2.0b to get all the video goodness over to the TV. Mark

Mark AppleTV4K connected directly to the XMC-2 works really well for me! All the video sources work fine, and if you have Apple Music you get Atmos. And the most important thing. AppleTV have a fully working automatic ”match frame rate” feature. Most built-in TV apps or media players don’t support this as this needs Android 11 for the OS to have support for it. After that the apps need to implement the feature.. Which probably will take some time. You’ll get 60hz output with stutter from most other media players. In shield’s you can lock the frame rate for specific apps with an external app. But if you have sources with different frame rates within the sources you will have issues.. AppleTV also support ”Match dynamic range” so the colors follow the source.. The only thing needed really is a ”Source direct” for the resolution. But this less important unless you have a good external video scaler/processor that will do an better job.. On the audio side it’s too bad that Apple removed the bitstream option a while back.

Don't want an unpleasant surprise from the shipping companies.

Hi, Does anyone know whether the upgrade program still in effect? Thanks. It is no longer in effect. Emotiva still may offer you a trade in value towards a new processor but the official upgrade program is over.

Does anyone know what trade in value can I expect if I would like to trade in my XMC-1 (original HDMI board) for XMC-2? It’s most accurate to simply contact Emotiva directly and ask what they’re currently offering as a trade-in value as I’m sure that the value changes by the day. My personal opinion is that you’re extremely likely to get more money if you were to sell your XMC-1 outright.
