^^^^^^ For me it went like this: Thursday: XMC-1 to XMC-2 Trade-In email invite. Thursday: I paid, then received Order Confirmed email showing payment. Friday: Order Confirmed email with a different order number. I think this one is for Return Label. Saturday: "I did nothing. I did absolutely nothing and it was everything I thought it could be". (Office Space) Sunday: Watched the Daytona 21. Finished watching the Daytona 479 on Monday. Monday: Should have received Return Label but was sent Tracking Number instead. oops Monday: Received Return Label. Tuesday: I shipped XMC-1. Wednesday: I did nothing again. noooo, just kidding. Today, Thursday: XMC-1 is Out For Delivery to Emotiva. edit-1: Today, Thursday: XMC-1 Delivered to Emotiva at 9:55am. edit-2: Today, Thursday, 3:33pm: Received email confirming XMC-1 received, being checked. Today, Thursday, 3:51pm: Received email confirming XMC-1 passed inspection and XMC-2 is shipping today with tracking! Will be delivered to me on Monday! So basically the same story as others have told. Very efficient procedure for checking and shipping! Thanks Emotiva! end of transmission Exactly everything that he said!!!.....and I'm off next week so I'll actually be here to sign for it. I just checked UPS tracking and it says delivery will be this Saturday.

I wasn't aware that UPS delivered Ground shipments on Saturday. My Apple products were delivered this way, but I just thought Apple had some kind of contractual Saturday delivery deal with UPS. Whatever the situation, I'll take it!!!

So I placed my upgrade order last Thursday and follow the instructions in each email; no phone calls required. Today I get an email that says my XMC-1 checks out and the XMC-2 will arrive on Tuesday.
Well done, Emotiva!

More XMC-2 porn. Just arrived. Gonna start slow with only 3 channels using the cheaper speakers first. The noise issue mostly talked about with the RMC folks has me a little wary.

Neither have I. Knock on wood. I did adjust the startup volume to -60 just as a precaution.

Mine arrived @ 3:56pm while I was taking a nap, I guess UPS no longer knocks or rings the doorbell, but I'm happy to see there are no signs of rough handling.

I have always made it a point to have any processor or receiver I have owned to set the start up volume at a low level, or substantially lower the volume before shutting down since some will re-start at the last volume level before shut down.

Right now I've unpacked the XMC-2 to visually inspect it, and it's now sitting on the coffee table acclimating to the house temperature for a couple of hours. We've had a cool spell the last couple of days and last night reached around 34F, so I'm just being extra careful before starting it up, besides my Seminole basketball team is currently playing an away game @ NC State and that should be over about 6pm and that's when I'll start it up and load the beta firmware to confirm everything is working as it should.

You may be interested in what I posted in the XMC-2 Owners thread. I videoed the first turn-on and gave a blow by blow (no, not the Jeff Beck album) of everything that happened so others would have some idea of what to expect. Also, I started with only the TiVo connected. No problems of any kind so far. I also let it acclimate. Always a good idea.

It's funny - I haven't been using my theater at all recently. I don't think I've turned on my projector/htpc/XMC-1 in over a month. My wife and I have been watching things in the living room, and I've been persuing some other interests in my spare time. Yet now that I'm waiting for my trade-in to get here, the wait is excruciating. It should all be over tomorrow...

Just wanted to report I happily received my XMC-2 via trade of a “factory renewed” XMC-1. It was a pain free exchange. Thumbs up.
The GOOD is I am super impressed how it sounds right out of the box with no EQ and really no setup. Just a “let’s see if it makes noise” test. I typically rely on Dirac a bit for signal shaping of my DIY mains, so this was a pleasant experience. I can’t wait to get Dirac running and see it’s potential from this elevated starting point. Thumbs up #2
The BAD. I was not so impressed with my visual inspection which turned up a tiny flaw in the side of the case and some screws in the side near the faceplate that appear to be seated on an angle. I didn’t touch them but it looks like the holes are not lining up perfectly with the threaded holes underneath. These are not huge problems so I didn’t feel a need to complain. I was a little disappointed to see that my URE-3 rack ears from my XMC-1 did not fit onto the XMC-2. The holes don’t line up. Not even close.

I work on a Nashville-based music tour and frequently commute there from Atlanta. Back in December I had inquired about the possibility of stopping by Emotiva and doing the swap in person. I was told that I could drop off the XMC-1 but it would not be possible to pick up the XMC-2, even several days later on my way home. When I received the email from Kayla mid-February notifying that the XMC-2 was ready, I reached out to her and asked the same question. She quickly responded, said she'd asked their production team, and sure, they'd be happy to accommodate my request.
I had to go there for a day last week. I didn't get to Franklin until ~4:30 Monday. Of course that was too late for them to check out my XMC-1, but she knew I'd be going back past there the next afternoon. Emotiva is only about 6 miles off my route on I-840. She emailed the next morning and said they would check out my trade in that morning, and emailed later to say my XMC-2 was ready. I picked it up about 4:30. She even tried to carry it out to my car! Very easy transaction and I much appreciate Kayla's help and communication. One note to anyone else doing the swap in person, you will have to pay Tennessee sales tax. Emotiva had already charged me $46 Georgia sales tax. Kayla said she may have to charge me an additional $10 or so to reflect the higher TN tax rate. I'll be fine with that and certainly don't expect Emotiva to play fast and loose with the taxman. I got home and started to install the new unit about 11PM. This was where I ran into a couple of unanticipated issues: one somewhat expensive and the other a fairly easy fix. After all, the XMC-1 was serving me well and I don't have any immediate plans for Atmos.Fortunately my wife was out of town and didn't witness any of this.
First, I keep our XPA-5 in a closet that's behind our entertainment cabinet. I was using five 6-foot RCA cables between the XMC-1 and amp. Oops. The XMC-2 only has balanced outputs. Try as I might, I could only come up with four 3-pin XLR cables in my basement. But, after a 2AM run to my shop 3 miles away, I'd found a dozen cables. I'll get some shorter, better quality cables but I'm not a believer in exotic $$$ snake-oil. I probably should have been running balanced lines anyway.
The second issue was the more expensive one. I'd suspected problems with the HDMI audio output of my Oppo BDP-93 but had been happy with its internal DAC, and using the XMC-1's 7.1 analog inputs for CD's, SACD's and Blu-Rays. Oops #2: the XMC-2 doesn't have 7.1 analog inputs. No amount of HDMI cable swaps or factory resets could bring the Oppo back to life. It had also developed a magenta tint and was so old, Netflix said it no longer worked. Of course Oppo is out of the Blu-Ray business and eBay sharks are asking 3-5 times list price for legacy 4k Oppo's like the the UDP-205. So.... the next day it was off to Best Buy/Magnolia for a new $ 500 Sony ES X1100 universal player. Everything with the new processor worked from the start, including the v1.8 firmware update. My wife and I finally sat up last night and listened to music. Steely Dan's Gaucho on DTS, Tommy on SACD and the new remix of Abbey Road on Blu-Ray all sound great! Admittedly my ears are aging and I've attended and worked at too many concerts (over 600 shows just with my current artist). Neither can I know if any difference is due to the XMC-2 or change in CD/Blu-Ray player. Honestly I just can't identify any differences yet. The XMC-1 and the Oppo were damned good. While I can still hear differences in speakers, phono cartridges, amps, and amplifier tubes, it's increasing hard to hear differences between other electronics. But isn't that how it should be? So far, I'm very happy with the XMC-2 and Emotiva's trade-in process.

Worth checking out.

Thanks, Modicen. I'll try that. With 960 pages of comments on the BDP-93 owners page on avsforum.com, it's become untenable.I wouldn't have found your link otherwise.

XMC-2 Initial Impressions
I previously replaced all my HDMI cables with shorter, certified cables. Thanks to those of you who reported the HDMI cable issues. I also previously purchased 6 XLR to RCA adapters. Thanks Emotiva for making them available as it took the guesswork out of it.
Last weekend I unboxed my XMC-2. No issues with updating to firmware v1.8. Both 2.0 and 5.1 sound great, especially with not having everything dialed-in. Switching between devices takes a bit longer than my XMC-1.
Dish 4K Receiver - Audio works fine, but the Dish skip forward and skip backward function has a slightly longer delay before the audio hooks when compared to my XMC-1 that I traded in. I’m fine with it. My Standby is configured to Video Remains On.
Node 2i - Tidal music sounds great with no issues. This is when I realized the DACs and supporting circuitry in the XMC-2 are really something special.
ATV4K - Sounds and looks great. No issues with the Tidal app, which I used for videos and some music. I spent an hour on YouTube flipping around to different 4K concerts without any issues.
OPPO 103D - I only played one of my favorite CDs just to check the connections; again, sounded great with no issues. I didn’t have time to watch a movie.
Samsung 65” 8500 4K (earlier model, no HDR) - No issues.
Overall, I’m very pleased with the trade-in program and would do it again. I never had a chance to connect my old B&K Reference 10 Processor as Emotiva’s turnaround time for the trade-in was so fast.
I now look forward to getting everything dialed-in; plus Dirac and anticipated firmware updates.
Thank you, Big Dan, for this trade-in program and one fine processor. Be sure to give my thanks to the Emotiva Team.

XMC-2 is in the house! I will also say I had a very fast turnaround from when they received my old XMC-1 and the new "2" was shipped.
