Boomzilla - Based on this comment from you in the OP, I thought you had manually edited to include the metadata. No program is perfect. Although the vast majority of jRiver rips included the correct track names, numbers, and times, some didn't and I had to fix those. What was more often the case was that jRiver picked the wrong artwork and I had to delete it and attach a different file. In any case, you also mention the various "dances" you did with some of the older files. Are they the ones causing the most problem? If so, maybe the problem is unrelated to WAV vs. FLAC and related to those things and maybe roon is just not over-riding them or can't sort them out. In fact, no. The newer rips are the ones that seem to be giving Roon the most problems. Whether ripped in jRiver or DB-Poweramp, the newer rips are the biggest nightmares. Regarding the new itunes and the "will be files go away?", you have been bitten before. And, don't forget the sage advice from "W" Bush: “There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again.” - Mark Sage advice - but I've learned to ALWAYS work from a "spare backup" when experimenting with new software.

I'm shaking my head in confusion. I imported over 30000 tracks and didn't have a single problem.

Boomzilla - It's interesting that your newer rips seem to have the most problems. If you share what some of the CD's you've had problems with, I will see if I have ripped it and see how it's doing in Roon. Maybe I do have some that have this issue but just have not caught it yet. Further, if I don't have it, perhaps you could send me a couple examples of your rips that fail (preferably starting with the WAV files you initially found issues with) and I will see if my Roon does what yours does. If you also sent the disks, I could try my own rips and see if I get the same issue. I have JRiver 18 still. Maybe with that kind of test, we could help isolate the issue and maybe find a path forward. Mark

Inside Roon you can choose to use the tags imbedded in the files or the ones Roon has in its database. And then once you make this selection you may edit them inside the program.

kb.roonlabs.com/Editing_and_Grooming_Your_Collection#How_do_I_edit_something_3-Layer Editing Model The metadata attached to albums, tracks, artists, and so on within Roon is organized into three layers. Edits Roon Metadata File Tags When you add your music to Roon, file tags are extracted. These tags are stored in their own layer, and also used to identify the music in your collection. When an identification is successful, Roon’s rich metadata is retrieved and populates the Roon Metadata layer. By default, Roon displays data from the top-most layer that’s present. In theory, this means that edits override Roon’s metadata, and Roon’s metadata overrides the information from your file tags. However, in Roon 1.0 editing was not possible so file tags were rarely displayed once content was identified. Version 1.1 introduced the notion of metadata preference. By selecting “Prefer File”, you are telling Roon to flip the order of the two bottom layers like this:

The discs that give Roon the most trouble are multiple-disc-compilations. Boxes I've recently ripped include:
The Who - Thirty years of maximum R&B Bob Wills - Encore Lynyrd Skynyrd - 3 CD set The Bocephus Box - 3 CD set Jazz Fest - The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival (5-disc set)
I've been careful to select like titles when the IMDB queries me as to the disc before ripping (Jazz Fest - Disc One / Jazz Fest - Disc Two / etc.), but despite having correct tags, Roon seems to scatter the tracks to the wind. Most often, I get 10 or more "albums" from a single disc, each with but one or two tracks, and the tracks are all misnumbered.
When I have time, I'll try some of the excellent suggestions in this thread, but work is keeping me too busy to mess with music much right now.

I don't have any of those, but - independent of Roon, these multi-disc sets and compilation CD's (various artists on 1 or more CD's) create the biggest issues for me also. If you want - PM me, and I will give you my address and e-mail. If you snail-mail me a couple of the box sets and e-mail me the files of the same things from your rips, I'll do a comparison and see if I get the same or better results. I will, of course, delete the files off my hard drive and send the disks back to you after the test. Mark

PS - do you have Dave Brubeck Time Signatures box set? I have it - ripped via JRiver into FLAC and Roon reads it all fine. If yours is not working, that would be a good test.
Mark (PS again...if you want, you could call me and we could find things that don't work for you but do for me. That might narrow our troubleshooting. PM if you want to call and we'll set something up.)

Hi Mark -
NO, I don't have the Brubeck box set, but I'll order one & see how it turns out. You're incredibly kind, and if I don't get this straightened out, I'll take you up on your generous offer, ship you some of my "problem children," and see how they work for you.

Even if you don't get it sorted out, that Brubeck box set is quite nice. Every time I listen to it, I think of when I saw him live at Miami University of Ohio. He performed with various combinations of bands, and he even brought out some Miami students from their jazz band to join him. What a thrill for them! And, they did great, also. Seeing Dave smile as they played along with him was priceless.
