"Get away from it all" - this can take-on many forms: My favorite yearly ritual = Renting a cabin "Up North" for a long weekend to two weeks (Limited Cell / Internet / TV access really helps)
Fishing (ANY QUIET "communing with Nature" activity that you enjoy) Go for a walk or bicycle ride (or take the dog for a nice long walk) Tinkering Drawing / Painting - you use a whole different part of your brain for such activities (at least, if you REALLY focus on it) Splitting some firewood (beat the snot out of some tough knees and crotches with some wedges and a heavy maul...) Something relatively "mindless" like scraping paint or mowing the lawn = get "lost" in getting down to the bare wood or making unique patterns
Massage
Get lost in a good book
If there's a nip in the air - sit around a campfire / roaring fire in the fireplace
For a quick break: -A Cold Beer -3 fingers worth of decent Scotch with a few drops of water every now & then -Hang with my best buddies (Our Beagle mix "Scrappy Doo" and Basset Hound "Sasha") - they listen better than people and NEVER complain
I think that one of the KEY part to effective Stress Relief is to "DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT": -If your stress is primarily from people on the phone or E-mails driving you crazy = get away from that and do something with your hands -If your work involves mostly doing stuff with your hands = do something that deeply involves your mind

BTW, I notice that no-one has directly mentioned "sex" yet, even though it is often touted in the popular media as a major stress reliever. That silence itself could be interesting on so many levels. However, given how that silence itself is bound to become louder and more eloquent the more posters continue to ignore the subject, I have to wonder whether the source is 1. some manifestation or incarnation of Christian/protestant/puritan prudishness, 2. Some other form of discomfort related to speaking about the S word, or 3. A feeling that such a topic is inappropriate or not decorous, for reasons other than those mentioned in 1. or 2. 4. A genuine feeling that the role of sex in this area is overrated and grossly overhyped by the popular media for non-sex related reasons, such as publicity for/or commercial gains? I do not know the appropriate answer, but at least we can now escort the annoying elephant in the room to the door, and ask him to leave YUP! This too - (at least, for short-term relief) especially when accompanied by a prolonged, intense release (if'n ya' knows what I mean...)

For "sex" to be the answer it has to be available, although I suppose depending on how one defines it as long as you have hands it is...

Sex helps as long as the wife wants to participate, lol....a good read on what you love helps, getting together with true friends helps, to talk about the worries with someone you trust helps, remember I said besides music and movies......of course a six pack or two also helps as long as nobody pisses you off, lol....

I'm in a couple of good Facebook groups. The Klipsch Owners group is a fun one to be in. Kind of like a big family. The founder of the group now has two spin off groups, the KO Off Topic where you can post videos, or whatever but has nothing to do with the audio part of it (no religion and politics though)...and just this week he opened a KO Peer support group where you can go to interact with other members who may be sharing the same difficult situations you might be going through. The main group I believe has over 10000 members and is always active. The group leader Cory is an authorized dealer for a ton of products and there is a ton of interaction. I am sure there are a ton of Facebook groups that you can find that are dedicated to what you like.

Many miles of strenuous cardio. Peloton and elliptical and resistance exercise. Fat and stress die here!

Ditto, at least four times a week, first thing in the (early) morning before work. I am not a morning person so I go at night. My fitness goals today are very different than when I was in my 20s. Back then I trained to be a bodybuilder and even competed twice. It was a great experience.

Stress, for me, is from overwork. But being a consultant, when it rains, it pours, and when I work, it seems that I have just one client after another lined up and waiting for me. When working 12-hour days, I find it hard to keep up my exercise routine. But I've reached the point where I have no choice - It's exercise or else die much sooner than I'd like. Exercise, when done regularly, DOES ease my stress like nothing else has been able to. So I'm slowly re-establishing my exercise routines (walking and biking) in hopes of losing weight, improving my cardiovascular health, and dropping my stress levels. But wishing doesn't make it happen. There's always something else trying to grab my time. So I need to start prioritizing exercise above watching the evening news, working on my wife's honey-do list, and even answering client emails. Hopefully, the improved health will give me the extra energy to eventually do the exercise AND those other things. But the exercise has to come first.
If you don't take care of yourself, you can't take care of anything else.

for me music is the stress release I go to the most.
1) I can listen with my kids in the room. 2) if you listen in the back (or front) yard the neighbors don't get too upset.
I also enjoy going to the range and shooting paper targets. Squeezing off a couple hundrdled rounds is a stress releiver.
Working out too, for me it's Karate although I just back from my knee surgery and the degrading of my skills is a bit stressful.

Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ! Read the Bible from cover to cover in 90 days. Currently doing it again 30 days in 60 days to go.
Best medicine for my needs.
