Greetings all,
With Emotiva's $999 deal I jumped on the refurbished XMC-1 bandwagon as an upgrade to my UMC-1! Better DAC for 2-channel listening, improved room correction, and support for future 4k TV at a great price were the draws. I'm happy sitting at 5.1. I did have a concern that the next HDMI board might not be backward compatible/only released for XMC-2/RMC and beyond, but I still have the 40% discount card in the safe for someday...
I also ordered DIRAC full -- apologies for the basic question here, do you know where/how I get the software? Should I have been expecting a license key or USB thumb drive to ship as well? Download directly from Dirac's website? I sent an email back to Emotiva but figured this might be a quicker.
And finally, any thoughts on the included measurement mic -- get it measured/calibrated? swap out for better with individual calibration file? good enough as is?
Thanks! Stephen

From what I recall when I bought mine, there will be an email sent to you with a license key.
You are probably better off giving Emotiva a call and ask.
From Emotiva's website under Dirac:
"Your Dirac Full for Emotiva key will be sent to you via email approximately 1 business day after your order is processed. Emotiva distributes keys Monday through Friday during business hours only."

As to the mic, I never got a Umik as others did. I just used the Emo mike. No issues.
Maybe I will experiment with the XMC-2 when Dirac becomes available.

After playing with it for a few days, DIRAC made a big difference in sound quality for music, like lifting a veil -- but, I found I had to dial my sub way down for DIRAC measurements resulting in me needing to crank it up afterward due to lack of bass. Does it auto set levels/trim? It looks like I may need to do that manually. I figured out it doesn't set crossover, but this makes sense given its full-range approach to each speaker. I'm guessing then there may be phase problems at the crossover point... hmm...

You should not have to crank up the subs after measuring if you are using std target curves as they boost the bass already. Many and me included have had problems with bass BUT I think i figured out what is going on. If you look at the target curve txt files there are additional filters being applied and I think these interact with the overall respons particularly the dirac added high pass filters for the fronts. When i manually removed these and reloaded the target curves my bass problems were gone. Post your txt file data for the non sub speakers and I will let you know what you should change.

I'm expecting a new piece of furniture to house all this from Furnitech by end of January. Will re-run DIRAC then and investigate more deeply... Re-ran DIRAC after moving everything to new cabinet -- only boosted subwoofer +3dB afterward, much better! XMC-1 is awesome -- at first I had a lot of trouble getting it to work with the Amazon Firestick 4k, screen blinking on and off, etc. It's now pretty solid, sometimes requires a reboot if it doesn't re-lock after switching away to other inputs, and occasionally drops audio during at least Disney+ content. It handles audio mode changes with flipping TV channels (from TV via optical) seamlessly. Attachments:

You really should not need to crank up the bass, if you want to make sure everything is correct get REW and measure your net response and make sure you don't have a large dip around the crossover frequency.

Hey! I have an XMC-1 since a few years. Now I have bought a new computer, Macbook Air with OS Catalina. When I try to install Dirac Live I get an error message that the program lacks developer signing Now I have emailed to Dirac here in Sweden confirming that they no longer provide Dirac Live DLCT_Emotiva-MacOSX-1.1.0.6846. I have sent the program file to Dirac that might help me. Unfortunately, Dirac Live 2.4 is not compatible with XMC-1. This means that we can no longer use Dirac Live unless we have previously downloaded the software.

The MOST RECENT version of MacOS that Dirac Live for Emotiva (for the XMC-1) will run on is Yosemite. This is true for both Dirac Live LE for Emotiva and Dirac Live FULL for Emotiva.
Remember that this is a SPECIAL Emotiva version of Dirac Live 1.0 that only works with the XMC-1. (Some folks have run it successfully on El Capitan... but there are known microphone issues there for which there is no solution.) The Windows version still runs fine on Windows 10 NOTE: Certified Refurbished XMC-1 units DO NOT come with a license for Dirac Live. Owners of a Certified Refurbished XMC-1 who want Dirac Live will have to purchase Dirac Live FULL for Emotiva separately. As sold, the XMC-1 has built-in test tone generators, 11 full bands of manual parametric EQ per channel, in each of two presets, and can import filter settings directly from REW (Room EQ Wizard).
NOTE: The license for Dirac Live FULL for Emotiva is linked to a user account and password and not to specific XMC-1 hardware. (So, if you own two or more XMC-1 units, you can use one copy of Dirac Live to calibrate multiple XMC-1 units.)
NOTE:
Dirac Live v2 is NOT compatible with the XMC-1. Hey! I have an XMC-1 since a few years. Now I have bought a new computer, Macbook Air with OS Catalina. Now I have found a computer with OS Yosemite. I have also installed Windows 10. Through Boot Camp, my idea is to compare Mac OS and Windows. When installing Dirac Live on Windows, I was denied because validation was missing? Have I installed Dirac Live on OS Mac so I can't install the program in Windows as well?

I was in contact with Dirac today and they claim that Dirac Live works with OS Catalina. Haven't tested it yet.

The current version of Dirac Live works with current versions of MacOS (Dirac v2.xx). This is the version that will work with the new processors (the XMC-2, RMC-1, and RMC-1L).
HOWEVER.... The current version of Dirac Live will NOT work with the XMC-1. The version of Dirac Live that works with the XMC-1 (both LE and Full versions) is a special custom version of Dirac Live 1.xx. It had microphone problems on El Capitan, and will NOT run on Sierra, High Sierra, or Mojave... I don't think we've tried it on Catalina, so I doubt it will work, but it couldn't hurt to try... Do let us all know if it works.

The Dirac Live license (the one that goes with the XMC-1) allows the program to be installed on two computers. I suspect that an installation on Yosemite and Windows 10 would count as "two separate installs" - even on the same computer. Therefore, if you've already installed it before, you have "used up your license count".
If you go back to the Activation Page there should be a link to "reset the license count".
If that doesn't work you can call in and we can reset it for you.

The way the activation works on Dirac Live for Emotiva (for the XMC-1) is....
You go to the activation page... (the link is provided in the e-mail with your activation code).
Enter your activation code... And make up a user name and password... You are then taken to the download page...
Once you download the program and install it... The first time you run it you are asked to enter the user name and password that you created when you activated it... You should only be asked for these the first time... although, when things are a bit off, you may be asked to enter them every time you run it. (If you get them wrong, or the program cannot connect to the Dirac server to confirm them, then the program won't run.)
I shall test Catalina when Im back from my holiday. And what about the validation?

You can only activate the software twice! Then the opportunity is blocked. Now I have installed and activated Dirac Live on OS Catalina and Windows 10. Feedback when I tested Catalina!

Anyone know why HDMI 2.0b Video Upgrade Board is unavailable? The processor sell page does not allow Dirac Full purchase
