I just added two SVS SB-3000 to my system, WOW I couldn't be happier. WOW is right! You have a very, very fine system there! The original Emotiva Reference Speakers are IMO one of the best buys ever in audio. I have the smaller model of the Reference speakers but they still take tons of 4 ohm power (I too have the great XPA-5, 75lb powerhouse amp). Great choice in the SVS sealed SB-3000! Nice to see an old familiar name back at the Lounge. Welcome home frenchyfranky. View AttachmentThank you Chuck, It's nice to receive all these welcome back, I really appreciate. Yes I'm still enjoying these Reference big sealed box Tower and flanked by the dual sealed sub SB-3000, the results are pure joy of fast transiant, reponsive and controled music. And for movie these two little footprint monsters are really beasts of very low end, punchy and controled effect. WOW they are replacing my 16 years old SVS PB2-plus 2X12in ported 175lbs monster easily.

Karcher is the top name in pressure washers For the money Karcher is hard to beat and comes with a 3 year basically no questions asked replacement warranty, but my top choice would be the Kranzle K1122TST due to it's higher water flow and build quality; however, at $1,199 it's cost prohibitive for my car washing / detailing needs. Looks nice but never heard of the brand.

Do it right the first time! Have the tools and documentation you need to execute efficiently and correctly. If the manufacturer isn't right, well, but this service manual takes out the ambiguity out of servicing my recently acquired Technics dual well cassette deck. Spend the few bucks, save hours and the pain of doing something stupid. Capstan belts here tomorrow which this deck badly needs. Wow and Flutter are totally unacceptable, but the rest of the deck is real nice for $68.00 USD.

My coworker keeps asking me to buy his Nackamichi Auto Reverse Cassette Deck, the tape deck pops out, spins 180, goes back in and plays the other side. I am going to buy it. Thank you for the motivation!

Thank you for the motivation! Congratulations Steve. The RX series of Auto Reverse Nakamichis are a sight to behold, and their sound very deserving of the Nakamichi name. A couple pieces of sage advice. Please make sure the mechanicals are up to date including capstan belt, and pivot idler wheel, these are frequent failures on Nakamichi's. Other than that as long as the electronics are spot on, the RX series auto reverse Nakamichi will reward you with many hours of musical pleasure. Please let me know how you get along, and enjoy the Nakamichi.

Rolling, Rolling, Rolling,,,,Are you rolling tubes? Asking for a friend! 🙄 Not rolling. Gathering the older NOS tubes while the good ones are around. What I have is different set ups for when the current batch wears out. However, I do test the tubes on my Sencore tube checker and in the amp to make sure all is good before putting them in the storage drawer. I may find favorites along the way.
Still trying to get my neighbor (from where I grew up) to let me see his dad's tube stash. He was the TV repairman for our neighborhood. Yes, I'm that old - B&W TV with TOOBS. His real profession was a scientist for Raytheon. I bet he has lots of 12BH7A tubes as these were for holding the vertical line.

Got some new tape sealed for the Nak, and 2 new to me Teac's. CX-210 and 310. I may take the 310 to work as a sculpture for the old vintage fun times. New tape Some used lying around from the KD-85 JVC get. Ebay cheapie Another. Added note the used old stock tape is wasted. No highs at all. The new one is indistinguishable from the original recording. Ha. I would use these blank tapes and record from my stepfather’s long plays to listen to on my crappy Aiki stereo in my room. It was an all-in-one system. AF/FM Tuner, Cassette Player/Recorder and Record Player. I was in the 7th grade and it was ‘84/‘85 school year. He still has that collection. It is about 400, bought new by him, original era old school jam. He lived in LA during the hippie years and saw some shows at Whiskey A Go Go like James Taylor and such. That is where my musical influence comes from.

Yard sale - $20 (classic M&K 12"), And with a bit of research... This model is a V-75 sealed-box 12" sub with a built-in 75 watt amplifier. M&K claimed (very optimistically, I'm sure) that the -3dB down point was 20 Hz. And, as Mr. DYohn has pointed out, I'm sure that there actually IS output at 20 Hz. although down from the average output by 40 to 50 dB. Nevertheless, M&K made quality goods, and the box is heavier than anything I've seen other than HSU products. The driver seems none the worse for the wear either, and with what seems to be a butyl-rubber surround, it won't stiffen up or rot out like foam surrounds can. Overall, a good value for $20 and a probable good match for my Paradigm. Now I've just got to sell a half-dozen 10" subs on the local CraigsList! Same yard sale - Definitive Technology center and satellites for another $20: All this expensive gear is just going to CRUSH my budget!

M&K subwoofers were pretty honestly rated and the -3db @ 20Hz is likely an in-room spec. IIRC that series used an amp with a bass boost circuit around 25Hz. Also IIRC, the amp was the weak link and tended to fry over time. If you haven't tested it yet, do so.

Large step up in soundstage and imaging with my new Lehmann Decade flowing through the tubes of my McIntosh C220. Love the sound and now I’m more motivated to move my two channel system to “The Big Room”! 😁

Tools, you can never have enough tools. I needed some precision steel tweezers for the Technics. Harbor Freight to the rescue. Got a worklight while I was at it. Just because.

Absolutely crazy purchase. Crazy price, but is real. This Akai A & D Cassette deck was Akai's venture into the high end in the start of 90s. Pretty much at the end of the cassette era as we know it. I cannot wait for this machine.

I cannot wait for this machine. View AttachmentYou’re making me miss my old CR1A! I sold it on Audiogon and it was mint. Dammit... I have a CR-3a as my reference. This Akai will be my reference. My JVC KD-85 will make all my decks earn their keep. 1978 of doing it the hard way. Naks make it look so easy. The Akai will be the same consistent great performance. The JVC makes you earn it. Has character. Like Aston Martin of the 60s of Cassette decks. Fun, solid, hefty. My Tandberg TCD-3014 Reminds me of the level of build the JVC is. The Tandberg was even humbled by the JVC. Heavy, tank like build. Great transport, last century for sure electronics more than anything else I have tape wise. But just so good. Nak and my other machines may have more detail, but full sound and that character like the JVC? Forget it. My Tandberg was close but still not the same. Still enough Norwegian finesse with that quirkiness inside just because. Precision detail that is a Nak, soul? JVC, Tandberg. Studer/Revox would be another. Like bottles of wine. No 2 feel or sound alike. Something digital can't match and that is real character. Involvement, and hands on this is it for me. Vinyl is allot of work, but might lightly revisit some day. Just expensive and maintenance heavy. Get another deck. They are cheap now, but just be careful. I had to work on a double well deck. Learned allot, but is more than most would tackle.
