Okay the JVC KD-85 is all done and it came out a treat. Like the day it left the factory. Well, maybe better actually. But is sounds terrific. I have one more cassette deck to do and should be getting it soon. Just bought it. Another JVC. 3 heads dual capstans and so on. It was another deal I couldn't pass up. Another project. Hopefully does not take as long as the KD-85 did. But if it comes out as nice. I will be happy.

You are getting the belt! Wait, hold on here. First of all it is not what you think. I am getting 2 of them for the JVC KD-V621.

Does it measure up. Got some veneer calipers. Great for comparing parts size and possible wear. Cheap on Amazon. No not a Starrett or the M Japanese brand. Love both. It is costs here folks.

I've been looking for an older CD player, not a DVD/BR player that also 'does' CD, just a single tray player, preferably an older one, and finally found a nice CD player earlier today. It took me a year to buy this one. Long story short, I went to a small town where a girl friend of mine used to live 7-8 years ago. Every Oct on the second weekend of the month Lind holds their annual yard sales. We went last year. I had bought a Marantz DVD player that had a remote last year. Next to the Marantz was what I thought was a DVD player, a Denon. I bought the Marantz because it had a remote, the Denon did not. The seller wanted $15 for each, and since I was down to my final $20 bill I could only buy one, hence the Marantz.
So, we go back this year, eventually found the home where I had bought the Marantz, and there sat the same Denon I had rejected last year. I asked the woman how much, she replied, $5. I looked it over, hmm, no optical or coax out, hmm. Better have a good internal DAC. I look it over some more, it has fixed and variable output jacks, and no other outputs on the back worth mentioning, other than the round one that looked like an S-Video jack. What the heck I said to myself, for $5 I can afford to take a chance, and she did say it worked fine. I pay the $5 asking price, get home and do a bit of research on the model, Denon DCD-1500, hmm! There's a couple on ebay with an asking price of $150, another going for $175, hmm! Those crazy ebayer's, whadda they know? I'm beginning to get excited. but I should check for actual sold prices. Whoa! From a range of $40 for a parts unit, to $275 for one on the original box, and a remote, the thingy that kept me from buying this very unit a year ago! I'm thinking that 'fate' played a role in this. Could this be the one I've been looking for that ends my search for an older decent CD player? Well, I get it connected to the Yamaha A-S1000 int. amp, insert a Simon and Garfunkel CD, and set back and listen, I listened to the entire album. Then I stuck on The Who's Tommy. Pinball Wizard really sounds good! With everything I played the sound was good. Clean clear signal and as good as any CD player I've ever had. I've had Sony, Technics, Pioneer, and a few others. This sounds as good as the best of those players. Cosmetics are great, not like new, but well cared for. The display works great, a problem with many of these older players. So, my search is over. Now all I need to do is dig out my CD collection, then decide what to play. Hell, maybe I'll just play it all! It'll take some time, kind of like taking on a task like reading the Bible. What the hey? With golf season winding down, I have plenty of time on hand! I still can't get over the idea that this CD player was there a whole year later. Just waiting for me! Had I known the quality of this player ahead of time I'd have given the lady a few more bucks. But since it's about 70 miles one way, eh...

What happens when the Norwegians make an Advent 201 better? They give it 3 motors and better controls, post equalized meters. 2 not just 1! And make the Tandberg TCD-310. Mine is on the way. Fjord heaven circa 1974! Belt kit ordered too!

KEF LS50 Wireless Roon end point, Spotify Connect, TIDAL and well done DSP. Interested in how well this works as a wireless Roon endpoint, especially reliability, sync., and overall integration. Enjoy.

DENON DCD-1500 DAC 2 x PCM54HP-K - 2 x SM5801P KSS-121A / KSS-123A DENON DCD-1500 Mk II DAC 2 x PCM56P-J - SM5807BP KSS-151A DAC DENON DCD-1500AE PCM1791 SACD I think they are all multibit R2r units? Not sure. I use the Denon DCD 660 which I think sounds great. But the CD mechanism sticks.

Morning, Gar. I have the original DCD-1500, no optical or coax out, just fixed and variable analog out jacks. Denon describes it as having a unique double super linear converter, whatever that is. I was actually looking for an older Sony. I had an older Sony digital preamp for a while and was kind of surprised at how nice the DAC in it sounded. It was one of their ES products. Those old Sony CD players seem to hold their value a bit too well for my pocketbook. When I bought this player for $5 I was wondering all the way home if I had found a good one, or just another run-of-the-mill CD player since there wouldn't be any way of running the signal through the XDA-2. I've been playing some classical discs on it the past few nights and it keeps up with the dynamics of classical music very well. It's a $5 keeper from 1986 and works perfect.

I have several classic players that I can’t seem to let go: Denon DCD-1500ll Nakamichi OMS-7 Sony CDP-620ES Ii I had to replace the drawer belts on the Denon. They all work great. The issue will eventually be if a laser fails you can’t buy replacements anymore. Always wanted the DCD-1500, but the 1500Ii is more robust.

Old DCM Time Frame TF-3 speakers - yard sale - $10 / pair I loved the DCM speakers. I had the QED's in college, and a friend had the Time Windows. With the right power, they were incredible. Mark
