Picked up the amp for use on my Atmos speakers for the time being. Bought one brand new from emo when they released, was my first separate amp. So its got a little sentimental value. Will probably keep the pre for a spare as it was part of the package deal..

I'm sure you can share a couple of those bottles...lol... Sorry, I'm saving that for the aliens. Now, I wonder if their advanced civilization means they also have better wines (and food in general) than us?

Just purchased a pair of devialet phantom reactor 900s. Lovely - I too would be very keen to get your impressions about this unit. And how would you compare with other speakers you have heard/own. And in case you have heard the Biggie ie the Gold, what is your opinion on that too.

I had the opportunity several months ago to hear a single devialet phantom reactor.
I'm uncertain as to which exact model was performing for the display.
We were in the "Old Town" section of Bucharest, Romania. Beautiful city, wonderful people.
We were strolling thru the cobblestone streets where the restaurants and bars are plentiful.
In the distance, I could make out a 3-piece string quartet. Viola, cello, violin. Quite distinct.
As we got closer, the soundstage became sharper and more expansive. It started to draw me in....
I stopped our party and insisted we locate the source. I couldn't see a crowd drawn around musicians anywhere. Strange.
I looked up and noticed an egg shaped speaker sitting in a small alcove by a potted plant. Immediately thought Devialet!
Perhaps they had located an acoustic sweet spot but I was amazed that one tiny device could generate that much presence.
In all fairness, that speaker had been driven hard and continuous for quite a while.
50-60 feet out it was delightful. But when you were directly in front of it, an unmistakable chuffing was prevalent.
I'd love to hear a pair of top tier Devialet in an appropriate space. I would anticipate a remarkable experience.
We look forward to your impressions Sir!

I had them about 9 feet apart on top of two desks on either side of my fireplace. So not to sound obvious but the bass from these little speakers are amazing. Very tight, fast, and deep bass. I used them paired as a stereo pair and also switched to mono. Mono is just ok. When paired as a stereo they are actually pretty impressive. There is very good detail, and the “missing midrange” was not an issue for me. They come nowhere near my Triton 2s. But that was expected, however, after hearing these I wouldn’t be surprised if the golds matched or exceeded the twos on detail and bass. Imaging was strong, and they could play loud enough in my open area living, dining, kitchen that I never went passed 80% volume. I was pretty impressed with these. I hate complicated setups, and these give you true full range sound from something that looks like a modern decoration, and is the size of about a small kids football. here’s why I returned them. I have an eero mesh WiFi network. I get 120mb/sec consistently. I live in country-ish area, so there is not a lot of interference from other networks. They would drop pairing for brief seconds almost all the time. I had them plugged into the same outlet and connected via wifi. If it wasn’t for the pairing issues I would have ultimately kept them. Maybe others will have, or do have better luck.. Based on sound quality I would take these over my previous airmotiv 6s, bowers Wilkins 685, stealth 8s “maybe.” Sonos play 5s, Tekton M-lore, Triton 7s. And yes they make more and better base than all the speakers listed above. i typed this while watching my kids sorry for any errors.
