IF you use their cloud service, and if you have a couple of other features enabled, that may be true. I don't think it is an issue otherwise. Plus I highly doubt they would be looking at anything I do. With that being said, I am actively looking for a VPN and/or firewall hardware solution to run between the Tp-Link and the modem. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I've never really looked into VPN/firewall solutions until I got this new WiFi system, knowing that it doesn't have a built-in firewall. Looks like it has router functionality; however, based on your ISP you may need to use their router / modem; therefore, this would be a simple wireless mesh system. I'm a FIOS user, so I've had the flexibility of not needing their router for the last 10+ years; couldn't be happier using my own network equipment, plus I've saved $10/month in router rental fees. You shouldn't need anything between these and your modem / router... why do you feel otherwise? Connect a deco to the modem / router and then traffic between the decos should be encrypted; if not, pick another mesh system. To provide the "security" features and parental controls it probably needs to take control of your DNS routing; therefore, TP-Link will see all your traffic (DNS calls)... for example, not bank specific info... just the fact that you made a DNS call to a bank via http://www.insertyourbanknamehere.com. Once you establish the DNS call to the bank, the traffic between your browser and bank should be encrypted via SSL; otherwise, drop that bank ASAP. Seeing the DNS traffic allows them to sell your data and therefore your privacy... XYZ individual searched for XYZ product / service. Ads, junk email, etc. will follow. Same issue if you use Google's DNS settings (8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4)... google sees where you're going, the data itself is encrypted; so using their DNS is another way for them to make ad revenue. However, the same principle holds true by virtue of your use of google as a search engine; they target you or sell your data to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc, and then you see those targeted ads when you visit that website. That being said... I use Cloudflare for DNS as they provide a more private DNS and will not sell your DNS traffic data. 1.1.1.1/dns/A VPN secures traffic between two points, the owner of that VPN will see your DNS traffic and they can sell your data. Yup... it's a vicious cycle. That being said, I don't think you need anything between the decos and your modem / router; otherwise, TP-Link would be providing a massive security hole if their mesh protocol wasn't encrypted.

Here's a link to the product: www.opticsplanet.com/fab-defense-gen-ii-vertical-foregrip-w-integrated-adjustable-qr-bipod.htmlThere's far less expensive ones on Amazon but they seemingly aren't reviewed as a good product. The opticsplanet.com's product is pretty sturdy made of fiberglass with aluminum legs which extend from the foregrip into a bipod.

Thank you for the well detailed info. What sparked this whole subject was this... www.tp-link.com/us/about-us/privacy/ I like the M4 Deco setup, but I don't like their privacy policies. I was using Google's 8.8.8.8 before, and shortly after, I went from having about 10 junk emails a day to well over 150+. I had no idea where they were all coming from. I though it had something to do with all of the political crap going on as it all started around the same time as the election stuff a few months ago. After reading your post, I have now switched over to 1.1.1.1 on the router, Roon Core PC and my laptop. Hopefully I'll see a decline on all of that junk email as well as being a little bit more protected.

You should be able to go to your router / modem and update the DNS setting there to use 1.1.1.1 and all devices will get it by default. Send me a message to discuss further so we don't clog this thread.

Purchased a pair of XLR splitters, 2 XLR to RCA adapters, and 2 RCA splitters. Why, you ask? Well, I will need them when I get my XMC-2! Going to pull the plug on the trade-in next week. And, the setup for using my sub in reference stereo is different than with the XMC-1 -->CLICK HERE TO SEE HOW IT's DONE<--Mark

And yet more...I just placed the order for my XMC-2. I used the XMC-1 trade-in option, so I got a heck of a deal. And, on top of that - I had originally used my 40% off card to buy the XMC-1, and the XMC-1 (and UMC-1 prior to that) has been rock solid.
I got the XMC-1 packaging out of my barn today, and then I dug through my collection of miscellaneous audio stuff in my cave and found the XMC-1 extra bits (antennas, original microphone/stand, trigger cable, etc.) So, as soon as the shipping label is here - I'm all ready to pack it up!
Fun!

I bought this Arylic S50 Pro streamer for $199. It has a pretty good DAC in it for the money, but it also has digital outs to use with the DAC of your choice. It uses the 4STREAM app which seems to have all the popular streaming sites built in. Very pleased so far!

Did a thing.... Nice! Performance specs? What are your initial riding impressions? I've been an avid motorcycle racer/riding since around 8 yrs of age. Racing Pro-Am etc. My last bike was actually an inheritance a 2016 Yamaha Vmax built for 1/4 mile racing. Don't know if you're familiar w/ this model but it's the upright "Hotrod" of motorbikes. The stock 1647cc V4 engine produces 200hp. The Vmax has been modified to round 250 horse rear tire. My father only raced it down the quarter mile in last days to low 10 seconds though the bike is capable of mid 9s at 155mph. Not bad given he was suffering from stage 4 cancer and on enough chemo/pain meds etc to stun anyone's reaction time/shift points. I rode the bike for a few months and after growing more confident realized the youth in me was coming back. Shredding and burning out the rear tire for a couple of city blocks I knew it was only a matter of time before I ran into the law or killed myself on the street. I sold the bike a couple of years ago. Very fond memories of riding and love the rush....... Pictures of me and the Vmax and also one of my high school days [late 80s] when racing AMA district 7. Thanks for the memories and love to hear about your new motorcycle purchase impressions!
