I’ve heard nothing but great reviews about this cartridge. Congrat! & enjoy. Anything in more detail you can add. I’ve looked many times at going with a moving coil but I’ve been waiting on my Exact II to stop preforming so well.

Hi Nick -
My McIntosh MT-5 turntable (made by Clearaudio in Germany for Mc) normally comes stock with a Sumiko Blue Point 2 (BP2) moving coil cartridge (Sumiko is part of the McIntosh Group).
There is general consensus online that the BP2 cartridge isn't especially worthy of this table, so at the time of purchase I upgraded to a Ortofon 2M Black, a moving magnet cartridge that is widely praised.
I found the 2M Black very clear and transparent sounding, but it could be aggressive in the upper mids/ low treble. Researching this, I learned that most moving magnet cartridges have a response peak in the upper mids/low treble that needs to be addressed through electrical or mechanical means. After adjusting the tracking force, azimuth, vertical tracking angle, low capacitance cables and c2600 preamp capacitance settings as low as 25pf, this issue remained.
My McIntosh C2600 preamp is an all-tube piece that includes an up to DSD capable dac, separate fully adjustable moving magnet as well as moving coil stages with separate tubes, headphone out, remote, etc etc. so I could match up with any cartridge I wanted to.
As a trial, i installed a Grado Prestige Silver1 moving iron cartridge I already had, and bingo! Very musical. But, the transparency was limited compared to the Ortofon 2m Black. Now a bit too laid back.
I spoke to my dealer, Audio Classics in Binghamton, who suggested the Dynavector DV-20X2L low output moving coil cartridge for my table and preamp. More expensive, but it sounds fabulous with all the transparency of the Ortofon, the musicality of the Grado and strong, articulate bass to boot - welcome with my Maggies. Very easy to "dial in" with the c2600's moving coil resistance loading adjustment - around 50 ohms for the cartridge's 5 ohm impedance.
The Dynavector is also available as a high output moving coil version - the DV-20x2H if you like - no separate phono stage required with your c220.
Happy to have sorted this out and delighted with the Dynavector!
Bill

Did a thing.... Nice! Performance specs? What are your initial riding impressions? I've been an avid motorcycle racer/riding since around 8 yrs of age. Racing Pro-Am etc. My last bike was actually an inheritance a 2016 Yamaha Vmax built for 1/4 mile racing. Don't know if you're familiar w/ this model but it's the upright "Hotrod" of motorbikes. The stock 1647cc V4 engine produces 200hp. The Vmax has been modified to round 250 horse rear tire. My father only raced it down the quarter mile in last days to low 10 seconds though the bike is capable of mid 9s at 155mph. Not bad given he was suffering from stage 4 cancer and on enough chemo/pain meds etc to stun anyone's reaction time/shift points. I rode the bike for a few months and after growing more confident realized the youth in me was coming back. Shredding and burning out the rear tire for a couple of city blocks I knew it was only a matter of time before I ran into the law or killed myself on the street. I sold the bike a couple of years ago. Very fond memories of riding and love the rush....... Pictures of me and the Vmax and also one of my high school days [late 80s] when racing AMA district 7. Thanks for the memories and love to hear about your new motorcycle purchase impressions! I am a fan of the vmax. Specs: Aprilia tuono v4 1100 Factory Semi active ohlins suspension with 3 semi active modes and 3 manual modes 175hp 89ftlbs 460lbs Brembo m50 calipers Wheelie control 3 levels 8 traction control modes Cornering abs Auto shifter and bliper. I am missing a million things but it is basically an RSV4 tuned for more low end grunt, half the fairings and a more upright riding position. It is not getting delivered until next week so yet to spend time on it.

One not though, I do have the Lehmann Decade phono preamp running to my C220 as an upgread (somewhat) to the phonostage of the c220. I have planned on moving to a moving coil eventually. I did realize I didn’t need the Decade but it expands the number of cartridges I may select from. Thanks again, Bick

Anyone see the sale that SVS has going on? Might want to check it out if you're looking for a sub or two. They have the SB2000, PB2000, and the PC2000 (cylinder) on sale currently. They give you 30 days in home audition, and free shipping both ways. Pretty smooth deal, IMO. I just ordered 2 SVS SB2000 subs. They will work alongside the SVS12-NSD for movies, the 12-NSD will be used alone for tv and internet videos. The SB2000's will replace a very old (10-11yo) but still functioning Elemental Designs (eD) A5-350 with a 15" driver, used for movies. That old beast probably has 15-20% distortion at 100db, and can still peel the paint off the walls. I'll gain some floor space back in the process, it is huge. I'll have it up for sale in a few days, local PU only! It weighs just at 100# IIRC. I almost bought two PB2000's but the specs show that they are very close in performance, the SB2000 losing only a few db to the PB2000 in some of the lower octaves. IMO no big deal since I usually listen at 10-15db below reference. Still plenty loud. My listening space is on the small size, 18x13 with an open archway to one side. These should give me all the LFE's I can handle. Been shopping for a couple of weeks now looking for a decent deal. SVS isn't the only subwoofer manufacturer in the game, but these two subs they've offered up are a very decent deal IMO. I've revamped my HT speakers, I no longer use the Salks for HT, and have installed Klipsch RP series speakers for center, L/R mains, and added upfiring Atmos too. I plan on installing them (RP-140SA) on the ceiling some time this winter for a better Atmos experience. Still have the old ERD-1 surrounds, and they still sound great. The Yamaha RX-A2070 drives Klipsch speakers without breaking a sweat. 94-95db speakers should be easy. That keeps 7 of the 9 channels of amp in the Yamaha going good. Nice thing about Yamaha AVRs, they just work! So, how's those RMC's treating you guys? If I can't find a set of Klipsch RP surrounds (no monopoles for me) I'll just keep them where they've been for the past 10-11 years. I think I bought them at the same time I bought the ED sub. Wow, time flies, eh?

I've heard a lot of good things about these tubes. And they aren't all that expensive. I may have to get a pair for my amp.

Picked up Pangea's AC 14SE MKII power cables for the Freya, Node 2i and Oppo BDP-103. Was tired of the 6' long cables and after pricing DIY options, these were actually cheaper.

My 86" LG has arrived! I am very glad my son was home from college to help me wall-mount it. 97 pounds is a LOT and it's BIG and awkward to handle. I'm going to wait to move the AV rack back in place until my new cables arrive. For now, I have an old, standard HDMI cable attached. It's working, but I'm not running it through a pre-pro yet either. My XMC-1 is supposed to arrive at Emotiva tomorrow and then I await the XMC-2 delivery. I'll move the rack back in place once the new cable arrives, though. Sorry for the lousy pic, but I think the move to 86" from the 106" with the PJ will be just fine. Mark
