I can’t purchase this locally so it is a big deal! Love it, grew up on it! ❤️
I used to love this as a kid too!😁

The Polar beverage company near me (in Worcester, MA) still makes birch beer along with Gosling's Ginger Beer. I believe you can order it from Amazon and Walmart carries it. Their big product is Polar Seltzer. I always liked it, too.

Been looking for something more aesthetically pleasing that goes with the flow of my home theater room/living room and lower profile to scale down the clutter in my current console that allowed me to move the center channel out of the cabinet for better voicing. It's a Salamander Designs console.

I have this sweet jewel of a stereo preamp arriving on Friday. It's a PS Audio BHK Preamp, a hybrid tube preamp with wonderful reviews and a gorgeous design. Designed by Bascom H. King, "This is the best-sounding preamplifier I have ever designed or heard," states Bascom H. King about the PS Audio BHK Signature preamplifier. King, a legend with more than 50 years of high-end design experience and responsible for revered products from the likes of Marantz and Audeze. I'm really looking forward to hearing it in my system. Five fully balanced inputs
Engineered and assembled in Boulder Colorado, USA
The very top is wood with a polished piano black finish, with an easy to remove grill for access to the two tubes
What is the verdict on the BHK pre?? Sorry it's taken so long to post some thoughts, I haven't had much free time lately. The BHK sounds very nice, amazing detail and imaging, separation of instruments is definitely the best I've heard and the separation between the different voices of singers and background singers is just so very clear. It is really a great sounding preamp. I have a new pair of Brimar CV4003 / 12AU7 tubes on order that should be here this week so I can compare the difference with a little tube rolling next weekend. I'll post a new thread with a more detailed review of the BHK after I have tried the new tubes.

I'm not sure, I thought I'd seen it somewhere but can't seem to find it now. I can't see the tubes now but when I get the new Brimar tubes to put in I will post what I take out as well as differences I hear. I'll probably be changing the tubes on Friday as long as I have them by then.

Curious if they used the tubes just as a buffer or for gain. My guess is they are just a buffer as the 12AU7 doesn't have a lot of gain. The 12AU7 family has loads of tubes to try.

Crosstrek is a wonderful car. Congratulations. Some personal bias as I am a huge Subaru fan. The blue Polo shirt says it all.

Here's from PS Audios's website " Hand-Selected and Matched 12AU7 Tubes Serve as Gain StageThe heart of any preamplifier is both the gain stage that provides the amplification and the volume control that manages how loud or soft the music plays. Inside the BHK Signature, a pair of hand-selected and matched 12AU7 dual triode vacuum tubes provides the unit's gain. The tubes are fed from a discrete MOSFET-based high-voltage regulator on their plates, and a discrete MOSFET constant current source on their cathodes."

Have to wonder what's doing the work; the tube or the MOSFET amplifying transistor. Very interesting. Have to see if I can find a schematic.

Have to wonder what's doing the work; the tube or the MOSFET amplifying transistor. Very interesting. Have to see if I can find a schematic. Here's the full mention about it from the site "Hand-Selected and Matched 12AU7 Tubes Serve as Gain StageThe heart of any preamplifier is both the gain stage that provides the amplification and the volume control that manages how loud or soft the music plays. Inside the BHK Signature, a pair of hand-selected and matched 12AU7 dual triode vacuum tubes provides the unit's gain. The tubes are fed from a discrete MOSFET-based high-voltage regulator on their plates, and a discrete MOSFET constant current source on their cathodes. The filament voltage is supplied from a separately regulated supply delivering a clean source of free flowing electrons. Novel Volume Control for Exceptional TransparencyThe second most important area of a preamplifier's performance is the mechanism used for controlling the volume. Inside BHK Signature, a combination of a stepped discrete input attenuator is combined with a novel switched-gain adjustment controlling the actual gain of the vacuum tube. This topology offers the cleanest, lowest-impact gain control in half-dB steps. The sonic transparency achieved by this unique architecture, coupled with the zero-loss vacuum tube, is largely responsible for the remarkable levels of openness and transparency. Control of the volume is handled through the front-panel haptic feedback rotary encoder or the supplied remote control."
