Yesterday I got 30 of these and replaced all the zipper pulls on all the bags. Antarctica T-24days ... Since our Arctic trip was so similar to what Antarctica will be, our packing mindset is still fresh. We just have to adjust for the draconian luggage whims of Aerolineas Argentinas. Camera bodies came back from Sony Pro Services the other day, all cleaned and checked. Clothing is starting to gather in heaps. In a week or so we'll start staging gear. View AttachmentI'm sure it will be a truly incredible trip. Though I'm glad people like you take great pictures to share the experience. I HATE the cold LOL Actually not that cold in December ... 30's and 40's likely. No mosquitoes!

30s and 40s? Admittedly better than I imagined. Still too cold for me though. My blood is so thin now anything below 60 and I'm freezing. Have a great time!

But Antarctica is a desert ... the humidity is very low! I've been looking at Cruisemapper.com and getting wind, temperature and sea conditions for ships in the region. Daytime temperatures now in the Peninsula range from 24 to 31 during the day depending how far south you are. But the interesting thing is, by the time I get there early December there will be nearly 100% daylight, especially at the southern end of the expedition in the Lemaire Channel. So temperatures will be a bit higher.

I just got these yesterday. I had a set of small JBL 120L bookshelf speakers just setting around. So I slapped the amps on the back of them with velcro, connected to the speaker terminals, and plugged them in to power. They paired with themselves and with my iPhone. They're playing Spotify as I am typing this. Bluetooth 5, 50 watts into 4 ohms, and only $199 for the pair. Too much fun!

I like to buy the Steelbook versions when available. Just because I think they look cooler. I really enjoyed this one. While the video was good I thought the audio was excellent. Surround/Atmos channels get a good workout and the overall sound was very well balanced. Center channel dialog was never an issue. Looking forward to the rest of the story with Part 2.

Another not-so-glamorous purchase, but saver of the domestic peace... New drain pump for our seven year old LG dishwasher. The original one decided to give up the ghost the day before we had guests for dinner. Murphy's Law at its best... Amazon Prime 1-day delivery to the rescue. Ordered yesterday, got it this afternoon, took about an hour after the guests left to put it in. Dishwasher loaded and ready to go, wife happy 😄😄😄. Side note: why does it take minutes to replace this kind of things, but at least one hour if not more to disassemble this, disconnect that, just to get to the darn thing and then put everything back??!!

Arendal is retiring the 1961 line and offering 30% off, so I picked up another pair of surrounds... 7.2.4 here I come.

I needed another computer 😁 I got a new MacBook Pro 14 w/M3 Pro chip … to be fair, the other MacBook on the desk is going to my wife, she’ll go from an Intel based Mac mini to a MacBook Pro with an Apple silicon M1 Pro. They both drive the LG 5K2K monitor very well, and host a Win 11 ARM VM, so I can do my Visio drawings, as well as my Mac stuff (VM right side of monitor). Oh, the Pro chip also gives you the (new again) ‘Space Black’ option.

40+ hours of travel coming Sunday/Monday. I like audio books best in the car, but they're tough for some reason in an airport or airplane. I have a Kindle, though I rarely use it. I've given up trying to understand why people listen to vinyl, so I'm going for something easier ... been kind of working out the origins of the universe lately so I picked up these two ...

I've given up trying to understand why people listen to vinyl, so I'm going for something easier ... been kind of working out the origins of the universe lately so I picked up these two ... View AttachmentWow! Is this a total non sequitur or are you having trouble figuring out how to use your turntable on the airplane. JK of course… There has to be an IPhone app that adds wow, flutter, hum, and clicks and pops to a recording to make you feel like you are at LP Home. Wasn’t an LP sent up with one of the deep space satellites? Voyager? If that satellite ever reaches other intelligent life, the beings will probably say, “What are these earth dwellers thinking?” We haven’t listened to Vinyl in more than a million years! SMH…” However, I think that satellite will just be traveling “Until The End Of Time”- Or, until it hits something and disintegrates, or burns to a crisp. Enjoy your trip. Looking forward to your pics.
