Guys, I simply said the processors don't like that. Not that it didn't work. This was based on information that I received a year ago. They must have fixed that issue. I am glad it is no longer a problem. But this is a classic case of taking things out of context. My main concern is instability and the next update. Everything works for me with a fresh hard boot, except the volu.e change between analog and digital inputs for my Node 2i. What stops working after a few normal on/off cycles is ARC, and it's disturbing. Not only doesn't ARC stop working, i can no longer change the volume with my TV remote because that is also passes thru the HDMI. Not sure what you mean buy not liking multiple inputs. What was the symptom of having multiple inputs being used? I've had multiple HDMI inputs set up since the first time I turned on my RMC-1L a year ago and never had any issues with that. What is the current firmware version you're using? And yes, ARC can be problematic.

What firmware are you using? I'm on 2.1 Me too. Switching works fine for me but I'm not an ARC fan so I don't use it. Do you keep the network cable connected? If so, you might try disconnecting it and see if anything changes.

I never had a problem with using multiple HDMI inputs with my XMC-1 which I had from it's release to trade in on the XMC-2. I did not own the previous processor, so can't comment on that. This is a new one on me. So, it appears that your issue boils down to ARC. Unfortunately I don't use it so I can't comment. I may play with it when I have some time. Hopefully Doc or Geebo, or someone else with experience may be able to elaborate and help here. Edit: I see that Geebo chimed in while I was typing...thank you Sir!

As to outboard video streamer boxes, there are advantages: 1) Firmware updates are more consistent then the TV manufacturer. At least with my Samsung. 2) If new video and or audio formats are introduced that require new hardware, you just replace the box. Sell the old one or re-purpose on another less critical TV, or give it to a relative. 3) The outboard boxes seem faster to me. I have two Apple TV's (one 4K) and a Roku Premiere. Rokus are inexpensive and to tell you the truth, the Apple boxes are pretty cheap too, even though they cost more. Sorry...rambling.....

I've read several of your posts and while I may have missed it, what flat panel TV(brand & model) are you using? I use a LG 65C8 I have exact same TV. It took some experimenting to get ARC working smoothly, when I was testing out ARC. When I get home from work I'll re-set up ARC and I'll get back to you. One more question for now, what firmware is your TV on ?

Not only doesn't ARC stop working, i can no longer change the volume with my TV remote because that is also passes thru the HDMI. I have owned my RMC-1 since june 2019. I have used atleast 3 inputs since the beginning (firmware 1.3a). I now use 6. Also use 2 outputs with different resolutios (4k TV and 1080p projector). Which was supposed to be an issue when I bought it. Everything worked fine first time. I have had some issues with different firmwares. But it has worked most of the time. Especially since 1.8 and later. The current firmware 2.1 is ultra stable for me. As long as I turn off VRO feature. VRO causes my RMC to become unstable over time. Which I reported to Emotiva a while back. I got confirmation that they inew about why this happens. Code fix probably in the next firmware. Have also done a couple of fast tests with ARC but couldn’t get it to work at all. No deep dives like reseting all hdmi inputs and outputs. Just a simple turn on all the correct settings and getting no sound or connection. But don’t use ARC because the TV’s apps suck so much compared to the media players.

I'm unsure of the number, it is the current firmware. Check just to be sure as there was an ARC fix in one the last two or three versions. Settings—> General—>About TV, it should v05.20.02 if I’m remembering correctly Now that I'm home and settled down, I remembered that I had also helped out another member with this as well, so the copy and paste below is what I'm currently setting up on my RMC-1 and LG OLED65C8. Now that I'm finished with the settings, everything works as it did last time I tested ARC. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In your C8, go to "Settings" --> "General" --> "SIMPLINK(HDMI-CEC) and make sure this is turned "ON"(the toggle spacing is "white" and the "dot" is "pink/red" with the "dot" to the right in toggle spacing). Now go to "Settings" --> "Sound" --> "Sound Out" --> "HDMI-ARC" --> "Digital Sound Out" --> "Auto" In your RMC-1L you simply need to make sure you have HDMI-CEC enabled(none of the sub-options need to be enabled, but if you want any of the options check them). You also need to make sure you have chosen the "HDMI ARC" input, also make sure you are using the HDMI 2(ARC output). I've made my HDMI ARC input "Visible" this way I can simply just use the "INPUT" buttons on the remote to scroll to it. At this point, just to make sure everything got a fresh EDID, I shutdown my home theater and unplugged everything for a couple of minutes. Once I plugged it all back in and select the HDMI ARC input as well as start up an app and play. I'm currently using the Disney+ app and getting DD+ 7.1 as the bitstream and Atmos as the Surround mode. I also tried HULU and it limits me to DD+ 5.1 for the bitstream. You will be limited to what LG supports with their version of the app.

Everything works correctly after a hard reboot, and usually continues to for a day or two, then it just doesn't. Hell, I don't even have to switch the input on the RMC, when I press go to an internal app on the TV the RMC recognizes this and switches to the ARC input.. until it won't and then I know it won't play sound thru it even if I do manually switch to the input.

Just curious, are you using a universal remote such as a logitech or not? The reason I ask is this part of your statement: "Hell, I don't even have to switch the input on the RMC, when I press go to an internal app on the TV the RMC recognizes this and switches to the ARC input." If you have not specifically programmed some remote to make this happen, it implies that your RMC is somehow receiving a CEC command. All I can say is that I have never had good results using CEC on any equipment. Not only does it not tend to do what you want, but rather do things you didn't intend. I would take LCSeminole's advice and turn off all CEC options except what is needed for ARC and see if you get better results. If you do buy yourself a universal remote and save yourself a lot of pain.
