As newby with a XMC-2 I have not used ARC yet and very little seems to be documented as to how. With my Denon AVR-x4500h, ARC was an dedicated input to be selected. I don't see that on XMC-2. How are you selecting it? I have my PlayStation 5 connected directly to my TV, so at first, I just let CEC switch it over to ARC. The audio never switched over, and the processor became unresponsive until I power cycled it. To check if it was an issue with the PlayStation (it wasn't), I unhooked the PS from the TV, opened a video app on the TV, and cycled through the RMC inputs until it was at "HDMI ARC". The processor become unresponsive and needed to be power cycled again. Someone on this forum stated at some point (it stuck with me), that ARC and SEC are the Devil's Handmaidens.... I get that's the sentiment around here, and I know that a lot of older devices have poor implementations, but the reality is that most mainstream devices made in the last 5+ years work on CEC just fine. I don't use either one so I don't have any knowledge as to whether this is just an Emotiva issue. I would think that if most others had figured it out, Emotiva would have followed suit. Maybe will give it a try someday.

I think Emotiva is way behind the game because they didn't even attempt to implement CEC correctly in previous processors.
Denon/Marantz (and as I understand they share the HDMI path with McIntosh) and other large companies probably have 50 engineers that have been perfecting HDMI/CEC/ARC implementations for a long-long-time.

My xmc-2 seems to no longer do sound for my tv, either over optical or hdmi arc. Which worked fine before. Coax or balanced in still works fine. Seems i lost lock on to 5.1? Is that a thing? Any suggestions?

Any suggestions? Yes. 1. First turn off the Tv and then unplug it. 2. Next turn off the XMC2 from the back. 3. Disconnect the HDMI cable from the TV & the XMC2. 4. Wait 30 seconds. 5. Plug the HDMI cable back in the TV & XMC2 6. Plug the TV back in and turn on 7. Turn on XMC2. That should clear whatever thing it’s stuck on. I’m just about to do this...yet again 😊

Did you consider the Monoprice HTP1? Not really, I like where Emo is going with the fully balanced processor and stuff, plus I do like my equipment to be matching. At these price points, I'll probably go to the McIntosh MX100 if the RMC doesn't work out. Ok I was only asking because the HTP1 has eArc and has no issues with it. Plus I have yet to hear an Emotiva owner who switched to the HTP1 and said it sounded worse. For me since I bought my XMC2 day 1 and it works fine so I am not compelled to lose money recycling my unit, but...

Subjectively, I don’t find it desirable, probably for mostly the wrong reasons -.-

Next issue is now I have things stable after the network is disconnected I get audio drop outs intermittently on hdmi audio from my roon nucleus or Nuc, I’ve tried 2 different cables and 2 different roon cores and both exhibited dropouts.
Anyone else here using hdmi connection from a roon core to the Xmc-2 with any success...even 2 channel drops out

Hi all, Ii anyone else have hiss from from speakers, that can bee hear from 1 meters distance, I have it on all channels from my RMC-1, im running Triangle Magellan speakers and Emotiva DR2 and Emotiva DR3 amps, the funny thing is, im using my DR2 amp for stereo and the same speakers, then the hiss is nearly non existing, but as soon as I connect the rmc to the home theater input and using home theater, then the hiss is the same again. Sorry for my bad english.

Has anyone gotten an update on the release of Firmware 2.2?
Granted my unit has been fairly stable but there are a few things I would love to have resolved. For example the Banner not showing while the system is booting up. But, if I reboot it once again via the power button the banner comes back. Has anyone seen this on their XMC-2 Firmware 2.1.

Actually, the CEC standards are so open to interpretation that D&M just perfected their own interpretation of CEC. It may play nicely within their brand(s), but it is just their version of the implementation and may not be 100% compatible with other perfected versions of the implementation.

Yes, I have this sometimes. Most times, from a cold boot up, my XMC-2 doesn't boot into the start screen. The Emotiva logo just stays there until I push some buttons on the remote.

Yes I would love an update on the firmware also. I'm not ever one to complain, but it is ridiculous that it has taken this long between updates just to fix bugs in the system. If there was something value added I could see the long delay. But I haven't heard anything about any new features being added unless I missed it. OPPO would have had at least 4 performance enhancing updates in this same amount of time. And then pretty much everything would have been fixed unless it couldn't be fixed. I am getting really frustrated waiting as I am sure most all of you are too. At least someone give us an update or something.

The update is:
The last I heard the current BETA version is looking good... If it continues to look good, and we don't find anything else that needs fixing or updating, it will be released shortly... (We prefer not to release new firmware versions until they've been tested - and are found to actually work.)
We will most definitely let you know when the new RELEASE version is ready to be released...
I find your comment about Oppo interesting...
I think John Wayne would have made a cool Obi-Wan Kenobi too (the older one) ...
However, neither John Wayne, not Oppo's disc division, are with us any longer...
As of the latest information I have...
The new version will include a lot of small fixes to address "video not locking" issues... It also addresses issues with high-sample-rate audio via USB... And Fletcher-Munson loudness compensation is back...
As far as I know there are no new Earth-shattering features added...

Well thank you Keith I sure appreciate your response. I guess I asked and got a detailed response. Maybe I shall do that more often. I am definitely not a complainer.

While I sat and pondered it for a moment, two things stood out to me. You mentioned "found to actually work", and were suggestive that "who cares about a company that is no longer around". Considering a very large community of your customers still think your G3P, in its entirety, is still in beta, it appears by your response that Emotiva is more concerned about net new revenue and survival than it is about delivering a legacy of phenomenal products and real value. Simply my take on a curious response to a serious question and problem.

Oppo hasn't released any new firmware in a very long time, probably over a year. Thank goodness my 203 is still doing fine with new 4K discs. In their prime they were like Apple on top of updates. No longer the case.
A couple of observations:
1) This is not meant to generate hate from those who have issues - my XMC-2 has been very stable as of the last firmware. I don't consider it to be a Beta product and just as with most every computer based product that is firmware updateable these days, there is always something to fix or improve on. So I would say with that ALL of these products are "Beta" regardless of manufacturer. Just my .02.
2) I'm very happy that Keith has responded with an update on firmware. I'm of the camp that communication is a good thing. I realize that Emotiva has been burned with timeline promises in the past....dammed if you do, dammed if you don't, but with the right terminology and expectations, keeping people in the know and out of the dark I think is a good thing.
