I’m using the TOSLink output to an external DAC (DC-1), and I’m pretty sure it’s worked with a USB input from my Mac mini (I’ll try to confirm tomorrow). I don’t remember if I’ve used the Coax output with the RMC-1, but pretty sure I used it with the XMC-1. Unfortunately I don’t have an easy way to test the Coax out with my current setup. Edit: All Dirac on the G3Ps operate at 24/48. Thanks a lot for confirming. I think toslink by design is mostly limited to 24/96 and hence I was thinking of coax. Any idea if the toslink stream was room corrected and all other dsp applied? This can be checked by measuring the response with REW. I’m certain the digital outputs don’t have any tone or Dirac correction added, I’d also assume no DSP. I certainly wouldn’t want anything done to the signal.

Edit: All Dirac on the G3Ps operate at 24/48. Noted about 24/48. So indeed it is downsampling. Well, this has been discussed before, but it’s my opinion that Dirac’s primary use with a surround processor is with video content which is almost exclusively 24/48, so no resampling. I understand there’s some multichannel music files in 24/96 and stereo at higher rates so those are downsampled. Again my opinion, if there can only be one rate for Dirac then 24/48 is the correct one for these processors, but some disagree. If they could do a second rate, maybe in stereo, I’d go for 24/96 as that’s the next most common rate I have, again others may disagree. Ideally the processor would process Dirac at the files native rate, but I figure that’s not trivial as I’ve only heard of one processor that does it (Storm maybe?)

Anyone successfully using the Digital Coax output to use with an external DAC? I am using the USB stream input for the RMC-1L set to UAC2 "USB Audio Class2". Unit's internal DACs work fine, but I am unable to get the digital coax output to work with this combo. I haven't tried HDMI sources or digital coax/Toslink input sources yet. If you have it working, can you confirm if there was any special setting? I am using the digital coax output on my XMC-2 to an Integra processor. It works fine with HDMI and USB. I am not using class2, however (not sure if my source supports it and it is only used for background music anyway).

The unreliable HDMI switch (and the fact that it's 2.0b) is the only big issue left I have with my XMC-2. If you think the 2.0b switch is unreliable and has issues, just wait until they code for 2.1. Hehe, you're not wrong to worry, but I'm hoping past experiences will lead to something good. It would be nice to hear if it's in the pipeline, though.

I have a problem developed in my 9.2.6 setup. I watch couple of times a week in my dedicated theater room. XMC-2 is on recent firmware version. I have a constant noice/static on my front left, surround left and wide right channels. My fronts and surrounds are two different XPAs. So I am thinking it is my XMC-2 specifically after recent firmware update. Anybody has experienced this? This static noice does not go away while playing regular content. check the power supply caps on the main power board...I think I posted somewhere here about the cap probably installed backwards and it blew off.

Hey all,
I recently bought an RMC-1L a few months ago that has been consistently dropping out the sound when playing a video source through my new Xbox Series X. I have the RMC-1L connected to the XPA-DR3 and a custom XPA Eight; 6-1s amplifiers which are powering a 5.2.4 home theater. I use my Xbox to play all of my different apps to include YouTube TV, YouTube, Netflix, etc. While playing videos from those sources my audio will cut out randomly and go mute for no reason at all. The only fix that I can come up with to get my audio working again is to hold the power button for several seconds until the processor does a hard shut off. After I turn it on and it reboots, the processor and sound starts working until it cuts out again. Sometimes it happens several time a day and other times it goes several days without doing it.
I have reached out to Emotiva about it and this was their response: "Unfortunately our processor will occasionally lock up completely - usually when it receives a momentarily corrupt or "broken" signal which confuses the internal processors. (And unfortunately streaming services like YouTube do occasionally deliver a corrupted signal. You will find this almost never happens with a "clean" signal source like a physical 4k disc.)"
Unlike the above statement, I have had it cut out while watching 4k discs as well. They provided me with no fix for the problem and I am becoming extremely frustrated with this ongoing issue especially since I paid over $4,000 for the processor. I had a $400 Yamaha A/V receiver before purchasing the RMC-1L and I never experienced any of these issues or it lagging behind so badly like my RMC-1L does from time to time.
Does anyone have any idea or recommendations that could possible solve this issue? Thanks for the help in advance.
-Lane

Question... I have an RMC-1. My PJ is 1080p. I want to stream movies with Atmos but most of the streaming services tie Atmos to the 4K version of said movies, which means I'm stuck with Dolby 5.1 since I only watch in 1080p. I'm thinking about getting an HDFury Linker to go on the output of the RMC-1 so it and the streaming services think I have a 4K PJ and in turn they also stream Atmos. Have any of you used the HDFury Linker with the RMC-1? Does it actually work?
Edit. I'm holding out on getting one of their newer devices because they are updating the Diva and others to HDMI 2.1 in 2021. It seem foolish to not wait 7 (or fewer) months to make that purchase. The Linker will be a stop gap to hold me over until the better devices are released. By using one of their bigger newer devices I won't have to deal with the RMC-1 doing the HDMI switching.

Just going on the situation down here with streaming jagman ; make sure you have enough bandwidth with your network to stream 4k before getting the diva or linker If you get 25mbps + just ignore this

I have an XMC-2 that would lock up constantly until I did a hard reboot of the device and disconnected the network cable. Also try different HDMI cables as another user mentioned. Unfortunately switching sources or audio streams will cause the audio to drop out temporarily at least but it should lock back on after a few seconds. I only use one source (Nvidia Sheild Pro) so I can't speak too much to that but when it changes audio streams it will lose audio for a few seconds.

Extra sub just for the LFE Posted this at the AVS forum but after some quick replies it died very quick One not recomend it and some said it is not possible.. But if I dont misunderstand the XMC-2 manual completely there can be a sub just for the LFE Anyone use this function with luck? So.... After reading some papers from Harman and looked at some YouTube videos with Todd Welti I have decided to go for 4 subs in my new HT.. (going for XTZ Cinema 12" as I already own two of those) This has left me with a monster sub XTZ Cinema 3x12 that I now don’t have a good use for (It has something wrong with it so I don’t want to sell it off just to get it back in my lap.. ) I have the Emotiva XMC-2 and it have up to three sub outputs and one of them can do only LFE. So, then I was intrigued by the idea of using it as an extra SUB just for the LFE. Use the bass management minus the LFE for the 4 subs placed wherever it gives the best sound. (Thinking of the 1/4 placement from the side walls or go for the mid wall solution, making both solutions possible when I build the HT, The corners I have been thinking of bass traps..) And then add the 3x12 as a extra sub ONLY playing the LFE .1 channel in front or back. I heard in one YouTube discussion Anthony Grimani did not recommend this, but he did not explain why that good and now I cant find it back so I still want some input from others, before I give the sub away. Does it mess up the good work the 4 subs placed in good spots do, and add some new problems? I was thinking... that the LFE .1 had its "own" sub frequency little off the mains as it is a effect channel after all and would not interfere with the mains managed sub Any suggestion? Sorry if this has been discussed earlier, odd if it hasn’t … but all my search has only lead me to guides and explanation of what the LFE is , how to integrate subs … and so on.. If it has been discussed earlier kindly direct me to it.. Sorry for bad english, hope the idea got through Thanks!

Different highpass/lowpass filter?
Is the XMC-2 capable of this?
I found out that my THX speakers where set up to best perform with 12dB/octave high-pass and 24dB/octave low-pass. To me it looks like one must chose one for the both? I think of a workaround with using the lowpass inside the active sub, or slope it inside dirac what I think is problematic..
Most stuff I found on x-overs are in the dirac discussion, and one in some UMC-1 discussion mentioned using the two different, are UMC-1 capable but not the RMC/XMC-2?
quote:
Klipsch THX Ultra2 loudspeakers are optimized for the THX crossover setting. (Technically, that’s an 80Hz crossover with a 12dB/octave high-pass section feeding the amplifiers for the satellite speakers and a 24dB/octave low-pass section feeding the subwoofer amplifier.) All THX-certified receivers and processors incorporate this crossover in their bass-management systems. Non-THX surround-sound components usually have crossovers somewhere from 80 to 100Hz and with slopes of 12 to 24dB/octave. Although the THX crossover is ideal for Klipsch THX Ultra2 speakers, these other crossovers will usually give acceptable results.

I use the Center Sub output for just LFE, and use the Left Sub output for Bass Management. Those that recommend NOT to do this are not aware of how we are able to do this with our processors, in my opinion. Otherwise, if they are aware, then they have never tried it. It not only works well, it gives me extra fine tuning for adjusting the LFE all by itself and Bass Managed bass all by itself. You might want to look at the thread Finding Subwoofer to get an idea of my journey with subwoofers.

More dropouts, fewer dropouts, or the same amount with the new cable? I would say maybe slightly less dropouts? It's hard to say because sometimes it happens 2 or 3 times a day and then other times it will go a couple days before doing it again.
