Only problem I have on the latest 2.3 firmware is loud crackling/popping. It's the worst firmware since 2.0, when I first got my xmc-2. How loud? It all depends on my volume that I currently have it as. Can you explain in more detail when the crackling/popping happens. Is it just with certain components or all ?HDMI inputs, toslink/coax or analog RCA/XLR ? During volume changes, or switching from DD to DTS atmos ? Skipping chapters or switching tracks ? Or is it random all the time?

We've been seeing that a bit.
Sometimes those fields will light first - followed by the rest. And sometimes the other parts don't come on until you operate a control or do something that causes the display to update. We're looking into it... bit it's no big deal.
Yes, I’ve had that the last couple firmwares. Thanks, first for me.

Just to clarify, my unit was off and I had to use the switch on the back to clear the problem. Thanks for addressing my post @keithl

So far seems a bit random. I know for sure I've had it a couple of times when I first start watching something on either my Roku stick or my Sky Q box. But then other times on the same devices watching the same shows it doesn't do it. I think I've also had it when navigating the menu and switching modes, but would need to pay more attention and make a note in future.

It's pretty consistent and happens every time. If I have the volume low, most won't notice it. I normally have it at around -20 and it pretty loud. Fwiw I do have Dirac, don't use quick start, and I factory reset the unit after 2.3 was installed.

I've also experienced crackling on firmware v2.3 - quite worrying when the volume is up loud TBH it's embarrassing when I have my fellow audiophile friends round balking at how much I paid for it and then having an issue like this. Re: the LPS not working issue, I mimicked ttocs settings on my XMC-2 after a factory reset, but I still get the same broken behaviour. As I think baku mentioned, I'm now having to switch the unit off at the back when it's not in use as a workaround. Not great really. Initial troubleshooting steps from Emotiva support haven't helped, so will go back to them and see what they say. Can you provide more details about your system? Equipment....how is it connected....etc. Someone here may be able to help with the additional info.

This sounds like something we've been looking into...
Which is that you might get crackling or popping if you select some digital inputs WHEN THEY HAVE NO SIGNAL COMING IN. So, for example, if you select the optical input, but the source device connected to it isn't sending a signal, or there is nothing connected. (But it doesn't happen if there is any sort of signal actually coming in on the input...)

Both the XMC-1 and the XMC-2 support DSD via HDMI. (And, yes, in both the DSD decoding is supported directly by the DACs, with no conversion or processing before that.)
The RMC-1 and XMC-2 will also support DoP on their USB inputs - but that has not been enabled yet.
I have recently pulled a trigger on the XMC-1 to XMC-2 trade. Can't figure out how to play my DSD albums. I have used the Teac UD-501 DAC with native DSD support with the XMC-1. Now with the XMC-2 as far as I understand the USB dac should be able to natively support the DSD DoP. I have tried every possible option with the JRiver, but could not get the music playing through. The FW is 2.3, USB mode is UAC2, the JRiver is configured to for the DSD DoP bitstream, but the only thing I get on the XMC-2 display is PCM 2.0 176.4 Khz with the white noise from the speakers. Am I missing something ?

Switch-HDMI-inputs-Macmini-to-TiVo.mp3 (191.75 KB) The garbled sound and pop is the incoming audio from TiVo's HDMI input as the audio stream is being recognized, and then it becomes normal (when you hear the laughing).

If it only happens on startup with the volume at -20, set your 'volume on startup' to a lower level. The factory default is -40 IIRC. You can always turn the volume back up after it has powered up and connected to a source.

This can’t be normal! Anybody else?
Had that too - after FW install - Reset to Default - Power OFF - Reboot, then restore the Backup - it's gone.

The only cracking or popping I have with 2.3 is a crackle when the XMC-2 swaps into Atmos mode from DD or DD+. It does it consistently over ARC, where the signal from the TV is DD+ with Atmos encoded in it... When I play an Atmos bitstream from the Oppo it doesn't do it at all.
For me, the 2.3 FW has been quite stable vs 2.2. Haven't rebooted the unit in weeks.

RMC-1, LG Ubk90, Fire TV. All played well together last night but now I can't get anything to show up on the TV.
If I connect the LG to the TV it works.
I tried my old blu ray player in place of the LG and it also doesn't work with the RMC-1 but does with the TV.
I've tried both BR players on different HDMI inputs on the RMC-1 and no luck.
I have a FireStick that I can plug into any of the RMC-1 HDMI inputs and it works.
I unhooked all HDMI connections and powered down the RMC-1 a couple of times. Let it sit and do a full reboot before hooking anything back up.
Any thoughts on why my RMC-1 suddenly hates blu ray players?

Try just the tv and a player connected with nothing else. When in doubt, use the stock Emotiva remote. If the tv is a Sony, and it did a firmware update, then it probably changed its inputs from Enhanced Format back to Standard. I cripple my Sony tv so it doesn't do anything without permission. Reset the player to factory defaults.
