That was not much of an informational podcast. Ten minutes of back and forth banter and a couple of minutes of nonspecific new products coming sometime in the future. I am sorry, but I don't care much about future products. I want to know what is going on with current products that are actually in the field being used. Where is the new firmware? It was coming "soon" about 7 months ago it seems. Another week has gone by with no news. Seems like there must be something that they can tell us. Give us a bone to chew on, anything! Hopefully before April 1st. There, thanks for letting me vent. Take care all. I remember when podcasts were eagerly awaited around here, not so much anymore. Can't remember the last one that I thought had any relevance. I notice there was a podcast posted,

It's taking so long for a firmware update that I'm boycotting any future firmware releases moving forward. Well I think most of us expected Emotiva to take their lumps but learn their lessons and slowly look to improve after all they were once a very strong company. Unfortunately, they are going the other way and continue to decline and can’t even perform basic communication. People tried to blame us for Emotiva’s overpromise and underdeliver motto but now they just seem lost. I feel bad because I’m a big fan of Lonnie and a lot of the guys that work there like Damon who helped me load my XPR5 from Naperville in the good old days. Well my XMC2 isn’t going anywhere yet so I’m still hoping for those firmware updates…c’mon Emotiva! Keep trying to improve!

Babies are now being born that were conceived after the last real firmware release…just sayin’ 😆

Emotiva publishing a roadmap is what they should do at the very least.
My far-fetched list of what I would love to see
1. Stability, Stability, Stability. Yes, I know, wishful thinking. 2. A user friendly web-based graphical mgmt interface ( I think it was Lonnie that mentioned that to me on the phone early on, that is is on the roadmap). Not this lame menu driven OSD from the Cold War. I mean, they brought this product to market in 2019...2019 I say. 3. An smartphone app reflects a modern web based mgmt interface, for BOTH iOS and Android. Stability is important 4. DLBC...i have almost forgotten what is stands for 5. Roon Ready capability built in like all the other major players, if only because Emotiva considers itself a major player.
That is all for now, after another week of total silence.

I have started experiencing a new problem with my RMC 1. FW V 2.5. Was recently repaired to address noise on zone 2 due to a bad PS.
The new problem is that audio disappears when switching between HDMI inputs and the only way to get it back is to reboot. This happens randomly with no rhyme or reason.
Any others experiencing this?

These things do 'appen! To many of us. Disable Video Remains On / Low Power Standby for a bit and see what happens - you get a clean reboot each time you power up and many of these annoyances go away. Unfortunately you are instead forced to look at the taunting "Rethink High End" for longer, and additioanlly, for me at least, sometimes the processor fails to show onscreen that it has even finished booting, even after 5 minutes, until I push a button on the remote.

I’m using VRO/VOS daily and the unit just keeps on trucking. Reading about these issues that others are having makes me reboot maybe once a month when I think about it to start fresh realizing that these are computers after all. I just don’t understand how there can be so many different experiences. For some the units are very stable and others not so much.

Experience of the past couple days ... not to complain, but so as folks discover and read this thread they'll see a few symptoms that come and go and just have to be dealt with ... usually fixed with a hard or cold reboot. Realize that these things happen, it's not your imagination, probably not reason to call Emotiva or return the unit for service (unless it just won't work) and hopefully made more stable by future firmware updates, but who knows. Thursday: Updated the Dirac calibration I did last week by loading just the measurements and re-measuring position 1 with an absorber near my right speaker to block a reflection that is unique to my setup, and caused a very "sloppy" impulse response. Success with that! Sounds great! Friday: Did a proper job of checking levels for all speakers on both Presets and got them within <1db. Went back to Dirac and loaded Thursday's successful project and tweaked the Front and Center target curves to try to lift a couple broad midrange dips. Partial success, worked with the Fronts but not very well with the Center, no big deal. But, I also touched the left curtain for the Fronts and that caused BIG peaks and notches near 20Hz, which required about 10 more tries to fix (in and out of Dirac, measure with REW, repeat). This, I believe, is a Dirac "quirk" introduced in 3.2.2 after they tried to disable corrections below 20Hz and then reverted. I live with it. In the end, it sounds great! Saturday: Just wanted to listen, and for half the day it sounded great. The only unusual thing I did was try sending Dolby Digital encoded signal from JRiver Media Center to play with the ambient effects in DSP Studio. Worked fine, not a big deal, put everything back to sending Bitstream with no processing. Hadn't done anything new to the XMC-2. Everything played fine for an album or two, then all of a sudden ... - Put on a 5-channel surround DSD album and it sounded like mono. SOME sound coming from the Fronts and Surrounds, but pretty much ALL the sound was coming only from the Center. Never had this happen before. Tried another 5-channel surround DSD, same thing, Tried a stereo FLAC and played fine but seemed unusually hard panned L/R. Reboot in VRO didn't fix it, nor did rebooting the computer with JRiver.
- Cold reboot with power cord pulled 5min, Rebooted into VRO. Problem fixed! Multichannel audio plays just fine. Played a couple more tracks and no problem ... until, I started another track and left channel had the digital noise many of us have heard. Hard reboot fixed it. Sounds great!
- Switched input to Apple TV to watch Netflix, started program and as opening music played the digital noise had returned to the right channel. Hard reboot ... "Err: INIT EDA2". From experience, this requires turning off power switch, pull power cord, wait 5min and also disconnect all HDMI I/O, reboot, reconnect all HDMI I/O. Sounds great!
So this morning I read a post and somebody suggesting just not using VRO so the processor gets a good reboot every day. I thought yeah, maybe that's a good idea. I turn mine on in the morning and off at night, No big deal. So I went into the menu and changed to Low Power Standby, turned the unit off and back on. "Err: INIT EDA2" Having coffee

Normally as beta testers for a company, we would report the problems to the engineers to have them fixed. In this case, I think all our software engineers either quit or got fired. At this point I have to assume that firmware 2.5 is the final firmware.

At this point I have to assume that firmware 2.5 is the final firmware. I sure hope not. We didn't pay thousands of dollars for these units to live with bugs and lack of support. That would be the basis for me to never buy another one of their products.

If I was a betting man, I would be placing a very large sum of money that firmware v2.5 is NOT even close to being the final firmware for the G3P’s. Any takers?

I didn’t realize that this was in question. Perhaps it’s better to wager on the timeliness of the firmware updates or whether DLBC or HDMI 2.1 will be added in 2022. For the perfecta (2.1 & DLBC) I’d say it’s below a 25% chance .

You and I both know that when something is posted in a more definitive way on the Lounge by members, it many times is taken as fact and these persist. My post was meant to bring the assumption of v2.5 being the final firmware update as unsubstantiated, which it is. The post I was referring to wasn’t quoted by you, so some members may not take the time to connect the dots as per se. You are correct that the post that I was referring to wasn’t a question, but IMO it was stated as if that members assumption could be fact, and again this leads to rumors.

It's probably against AVS rules, but if we start a pool I've got 5/4/2022. May the fourth be with you, Emotiva.

Hi,
New here. I've searched but failed to find the answer to my question.
Is there a complete and documented API for controlling a RMC-1L over the network connection from, say, a home automation system?
Thanks much.
