Hi, New here. I've searched but failed to find the answer to my question. Is there a complete and documented API for controlling a RMC-1L over the network connection from, say, a home automation system? Thanks much. Over the couple of weeks that I've been using the XMC-2 in my theater, I've experienced some of the same anomalies that marcl and others have reported. Specifically, I've on a couple of occasions experienced the digital noise when using surround mode with music. It seems that it has mostly occurred when switching from Surround to DTS:NeoX audio mode. Switching modes and/or inputs didn't solve it. I had to do a cold reboot with the rear main switch. And then, last night I switched from watching TV on the Dish receiver to a Bluray on the Sony player. It started fine, then after about a minute dropped the video. Audio was fine, but no video. This was with the Bluray player on the XMC-2 HDMI 1 input and the XMC-2 outputting to the HDMI 1 input on the JVC projector. I did a cold reboot again, but had the same issue. Interesting, before turning the XMC-2 on after the cold boot, there was video displayed from the projector. So the video seemed to be getting through the XMC before turning it on. But when I turned on the XMC-2, the video dropped again. I wanted to try connecting the BR player directly to the projector, but my wife was with me, so I didn't want to get into troubleshooting at that time. I'm going to try that today. At this point, I can't say for sure whether the problem is with the BR player, the XMC, the projector or the HDMI cable. I hope to confirm that with more troubleshooting. If the problem ends up being the XMC not playing nice with the JVC over HDMI, I'll run an HDMI directly from the BR player to the projector and audio to the XMC. It's all going to be ultimately controlled by a Harmony Elite, so the processed will be automated. The digital noise is something I can't fix, however, and I hope Emotiva is addressing this in the next firmware update.

This doesn't make the situation any better, and personally believe this is something that could help set Emo apart from the other manufacturers, but just to put things into context - I've been following multiple processor owner threads on AVS (Monoprice and JBL to be specific) and they seem to be in the same boat as us - any communication from the manufacturer on status updates, bug fixes/firmware updates/new features has stopped completely. I don't know, maybe there's some comfort in that we Emo owners are not the only ones in this boat(to be fair there has been "some" communication from Emo but it's been pretty much the same thing for 6 months so I wouldn't really call that an update). I would love to see this situation change - also the feature requests that were brought up by 5channels are features I would love to see implemented as well. Especially DLBC and a web interface/modern mobile app. One feature specifically in the app/web interface would be buttons to quickly change Dirac calibrations. I hate having to slog through all the slow menu options when I want to switch back and forth to test out changes I made. It takes too long to be able to really tell the difference unless they are major differences.

I didn’t realize that and I guess then it’s not as bad. Do those other manufacturers release podcasts as well? Because I’m only concerned about the G3P and updates, I don’t go into any other threads on this board, like amps and speakers etc. Ok, it’s just bad all around…sounds like we just need to be patient.

We have been patiently waiting for the latest firmware update for a long time now. I'm extremely patient because my XMC-2 is working fine right now with the equipment I currently own. I have not had the issues others have had (projectors/multiple subs/crackle and pop sounds/loss of audio and or video etc)....all requiring unplugging of cables, reboots, blah, blah, blah. I'm good, but I certainly feel for others who are dealing with these issues and can only hope that relief is available...(I hate to even say the word)...."soon".

This is pretty much the only thread I visit on this forum as well. I don't own any other Emotiva products besides the processor. I'm just passing along something I've picked up from AVS regarding similar processors from other owners. It seems like we're all pretty much in the same boat (unless you own a Trinnov). Again, doesn't really make the situation any better. And to be honest, just because it seems to be the norm doesn't make it good. I personally think an update is warranted at this point - but patience does seem to be required right now.

At this point, I can't say for sure whether the problem is with the BR player, the XMC, the projector or the HDMI cable. Cutting to the chase, it appears the video dropout problem was caused by the HDMI cable. It's a certified fiber optic 8K/120Hz cable by Techlogix purchased from the projector vendor. I'll be calling him today. Last night I started watching a concert Bluray with that HDMI cable connected directly between the BR player and the projector and about 30 minutes in the screen went blank, then turned to snow, then nothing but the projector saying the HDMI connection was "out of range". I immediately replaced it with a shorter copper HDMI cable I have and the video returned and stayed through the rest of the concert and a movie. Next, I'll try running the HDMI inputs through the XMC-2 again to determine if it will be happy with the different cable.

Rerouted the HDMI inputs to the XMC-2 with the single HDMI out to the projector using the short cheap cable. All is working as it should. I temporarily swapped the fiber optic HDMI cable from the XMC to the projector and after a minute or so started into video dropouts again with the DISH receiver. So I'm convinced the culprit in this case is the HDMI cable. And since the projector takes a bit of time to fire up, I've changed the XMC power setting to Low Power Standby. So it will do a reboot at every turn on, which I hope will promote stability.

I have not had any video issues since I bought new HDMI cables a few weeks after I got the XMC2 when I had issues with ATV4K. Besides the HDMI/CEC issue where the input change screws up ATV4K, everything else pretty much works. Yes there are some pops and crackles but I don’t have issues watching a movie or any other program. There may be another HDMI/CEC issue where it’s powering up devices that is not the current input, but it’s just a little annoying and not a deal breaker.

I’ve moved the last 4 posts to the Dirac thread just so those of you who posted these know where they went.

For the last year I've very much enjoyed my XMC-2, having found it the best of type for my listening needs. That's over a 50 year period in Broadcast Audio, relevant to this post. It would have been better had the improved FW arrived, especially with 4 Subs needing BM. A long time sufferer of 'promiseware' 'vaporware' 'neverthereware', it's time. Alas, the endurance anticipation of a firmware update has exceeded my wait limit, by more than a few margins. Things to do, time's shortening and all that... I'm sure when it arrives the benefits will peak again. Most users, presumably, are from a much younger demographic, and may have the patience to hang around for FW. I've opted for an alternative that, while not P'n'P is relatively complete, though not as affordable, setup was intuitive and timely. XMC-2 soon to be listed only locally (Oz), only viable for those Downunder, as shipping outside Oz is horrendously costly, and Covidly speed deprecated.

Update on an issue I talked about last week ... suddenly playing surround DSD music track in mono. It happened last week and after jumping through all the usual hoops it fixed itself.
Today after playing several stereo tracks, I put on the same (just a coincidence) DSD surround track and ... it played in mono again!
This time I rebooted the computer (I was playing through JRiver), then rebooted in LPS, then did a cold reboot with line cord unplugged 5 min. None of this worked.
So ... I switched from Preset 1 to Preset 2 (which are identical except Preset 2 has all subs=None) .... and the problem was fixed.
So ... this has never happened ever before FW 2.5, and it's happened twice in the past week, and switching Presets back and forth seems to fix it.
Just sayin' ...

Switching Presets can fix some issues. But now I wonder if it's because of setup differences between the Presets, or, if it's even more particular, like maybe if one has subwoofers and the other doesn't? BM is involved in both of your Presets IIRC, because you've got channels setup as Small, correct? So is it just the switching of Presets? or the way in which the Preset differ?

They're identical with Fronts Large and everything else small. Except Preset 1 has Center Sub=LFE and Preset 2 has Center Sub=None. Otherwise identical, and that includes Dirac as I send the same filters to Preset 2 with Center Sub=LFE, and then in the Preset I turn off the sub afterward. And ... this 5-channel DSD file doesn't have .1 so it sends nothing to LFE. Two things .... this has happened twice with 2.5 and never happened before in two years; and, all I had to do was switch from Preset 2 to Preset 1 and it fixed it (reboots had no effect).

Then please try this, Setup things opposite from how things are now. Setup the opposite Preset to be the designated one for what is used for DSD and see if that results in a mono output. But you can't change it on the fly, it should be setup that way, then the processor shut down as you would normally do, then go through the process of playing DSD like you did when the mono happened. Like was said on Third Rock From The Sun, "It's opposite Wednesday".

The problem is that this is so random ... but I could do it and play music on Preset 1 for a while and see if it happens.
