I can see 2.5 was released in Jan 2022. So that is over 8 months ago. Is it normal gap between versions? Just fyi - v2.5 was released primarily for future firmware compatibility alignment purposes due to a minor change in hardware. The last firmware release that was made for features/fixes/functionalities was v2.3 (June 16, 2021). See below. Per v2.5 - “DIFFERENCES: In recent weeks we have made some minor hardware changes to boards in the RMC-1, RMC-1L, and XMC-2 processors. Firmware v2.5 was released primarily to ensure that all firmware going forward will work with ALL existing hardware. The only difference in functionality between v2.3 and v2.5 is a minor bug fix to bass management when running dual subs. There are no significant differences in features or functionality between v2.4 and v2.5 .) (However the new hardware **WILL NOT** WORK with older firmware.)” ouch! That is indeed a long time ago. Let's hope 3.0 is coming real soon

Yep, one could imply that this is absolute incompetence, they should be held to account for promising the moon and delivering bricks. I could never... NEVER...in good conscience put mine on the used market. IMHO, these processors have a resale value of ZERO, even when a new flopware is released...I should get out the engraving tool and write Emo-Edsel on the faceplate. Other than that, I'm a happy camper

To the Dirac experts, what happens when I forget to reset the levels to 0 for all the channels? I made some adjustments previously and ran Dirac last night w the levels not zeroed out.
Can I reset the volume to 0 now? Or would I be altering the levels?
I guess I can do a level test as well.

Yes, you will be altering the levels, but not anything to do with Dirac. so when you adjust levels to be whatever their optimum is now, they will be correct. Levels is one of those things that Dirac does not care about, and does not do anything with other than what’s inside the direct filter. so if you were to set all levels to zero right now, they would actually be very close to what is the correct amount of level. let me amend that last statement, except for subwoofers, which probably need more tweaking after running Dirac.

Dirac assumes levels are at zero and anything you set there, before or after running Dirac, will be added to the final result. Setting all to zero now will put it where Dirac thinks is correct. I usually check and adjust levels with an SPL after running Dirac.

Yes unfortunately the levels are not under the Dirac presets. Ideally the levels should be under the preset and they should be set to zero when uploading a new filter to that preset. But it’s not a deal breaker just not logical. The Dirac run did a nice job though so I’m enjoying the amazing sound. Of course it took some work to dial my sub in manually which is part of this processor’s wok flow. Doesn’t seem like DLBC will ever get here.

It would be nice if we had different Levels for each Slot in a Preset. It's pretty much impossible to compare sound with and without Dirac (or compare different Dirac Slots) accurately because the Dirac Slot will normally have lower overall volume than the User Slot. Add to that the usual tweak to each channel that can be needed ... etc.

Its one of those things if Emotiva didn’t say DLBC would be available in the future, I may have bought something else.

Thanks, I will try again, Yes I formatted about 4 diffrent USB.. Is there an easy way to see exactly what firmware I am on? also switching inputs does not help me at all. It must be hard powered down from back of unit.. I would not give this receiver to my enemy Hi All
I was just trying to upgrade to 2.5 as I have not updated in about 1yr. My receiver is only about 1yr old but I cannot stand when I pause a video or movie and then wait maybe 3-5min and try to resume I get no audio.. I need to go into the AV closet, hard power down the processor and wait for it and all amps to come back in order to get audio..
Someone know if 2.5 or 3.0 fix this? I Tried to update to 2.5 but used 3 different FAT32 USB sticks only to be shown " no usb stick" on my unit? Hi All, So I am assuming my issues will remain as I have not seen a 3.0 drop? This is getting nuts for the money I spent on a whole Emotiva setup and I need to hard reboot my receiver every time I need to pause my movie.. its embarrassing to be honest.
Updating the firmware should be the first thing you try. A previous FW used to lose audio after pausing with my Panasonic BD player but that's no longer an issue for me. Have you tried doing a fresh format on the USB drives?

Guys I am slightly confused. It seems that 2.5 mostly fixed bass management issues but also later it was reported that with new DIRAC version the BM problems are back in full swing? Can anybody confirm what is the status of the bug?

Guys I am slightly confused. It seems that 2.5 mostly fixed bass management issues but also later it was reported that with new DIRAC version the BM problems are back in full swing? Can anybody confirm what is the status of the bug? Probably my posts that you saw. It's very confusing. After the 3.x Dirac releases I did multiple tests and confirmed the part of the BM bug that had been fixed - the +5db boost - had returned. This was late April/May. I tested several scenarios and used measurements I did in March as well as new measurements. I was getting +8db total as I had before our V2.5 firmware. Since the only thing that changed was that I downloaded new filter files from a new Dirac version, I sent a note to Dirac explaining the issue - not expecting that it was even their problem. - but just to see if maybe they changed something in their config file that Emotiva was using in their "workaround" partial fix. I got no reply. Shortly later - maybe early June - I tried downloading filters again ... and the problem was gone! Response was back to what it was in March. Now my procedures are rigorous and repeatable so I found no possible error in what I did and could not reproduce the problem again using Dirac 3.3. The only thing I can think of is that it is known that Dirac does some processing on their server. So maybe they changed something on their end after my note to them that fixed the issue. I can't explain it any other way. So as of now, if you use two subs for bass management or if you use two large fronts, you will only see a 3db boost below 100Hz.

I can confirm Marc's findings. I just ran a new set of filters in 3.3 and found a similar result. Channels were accurate to within 1db prior to Dirac and the sub LFE output rose around 3-5db once the new filters were installed and enabled. Note- I run a single centre sub channel out from a RMC1 to a Venue360 which feeds 4 18" JBL 2242's. So that could explain why the effect could be more pronounced. I'll try running the whole set again tomorrow and try to record it more carefully. 🤓🧐🤪🔊🔊👍

It's dependent on speaker configuration, but also a bit more inconsistent than we would predict based on our understanding of the root causes. But ... we have learned a bit in correspondence with Keith that the fix for the root cause of the BM issues requires significant code rewrite which is expected in a release AFTER 3.x. It's possible that the workaround that Emotiva accomplished in 2.5 works differently for different configurations. No data on this ... just speculation as we now know the root cause of some of it was not fixed. So it is what it is ... likely until there is a firmware well past the next official 3.x.
