Is there a known issue with the RMC-1 outputting surround when given a PCM 5.1 signal? I've noticed that when my Apple TV sends PCM 5.1 content, the RMC-1 only outputs in stereo.
Not sure if there is a setting for this? I tried Surround modes Auto, Dolby Surround, Stereo. Also shut down the RMC-1 and performed a cold boot. I also quickly tried my Denon AVR and it correctly outputs 5.1 with a PCM 5.1 signal. TrueHD/Atmos content works fine, however (I only have a 5.1 setup currently).

I have had my RMC1 L for only a few days and can't seem to get the FireStick 4k work properly with it. The video cuts out frequently for several seconds but the audio remains uninterrupted. I also have a Roku ultra which works as it should. The FireStick 4k worked fine with my previous Yamaha receiver. Any ideas on this would be appreciated. Bump

I would reset and make sure it’s updated. Perhaps try a different HDMI port as well.

Try turning on rear surrounds in setup menu, it worked for me and i had the same issue.

No, no known issue I’ve seen here.. is the RMC-1 reporting that it is actually Receiving 5.1? (Then downmixing to stereo)? you are using HDMI, right? USB does not support multichannel PCM (but should still upmix it) out of interest, what firmware are you using? Two weeks ago I installed the leaked beta firmware incorporating DIrac (illegitimately posted by an Emotiva Beta Tester) and had issues with 5.1 PCM and had to revert back to 1.10 Firmware (The surrounds and rear surround were warbling like a blown tweeter on auto, direct, surround and upmixing with Dolby or DTS Neural. Only as Icycled surround mode to the "All Stereo” surround mode did the speakers work properly. Carrying on cycling past all stereo to Direct/Surround/Auto caused the warbling to return. This only occurred with PCM sources (from HTPC JRiver, Oppo Blu-ray or PS4) and not with bitstreamed DTS or Dolby)

The sound was very good, reported 5.1 and I could hear distinct Center and surround channels. My RMC was set to auto and playing in Dolby Surround.

If I press the info button on the remote, the RMC says PCM 5.1 with "surround". I don't hear anything from the center channel nor the surround speakers. Again, using the same setup with a TrueHD track (netflix, TV+) I hear all 5.1 channels.

Are you sure the PCM track has data on all channels? While it seems unlikely, it could be 2 channels of data in a 6 channel container. Can you give us an example of a title you're watching?

The programs I have been watching are GoT on HBO Max, and Last Kingdom on Netflix.

Quick update: Adding rears fixed the issue. Thanks for the heads up! It seems to be a consequence of expecting 7.1 lpcm from a decoded dtshdma or truehd 7.1 track .. Dug this 2.0 downmixing up with a zidoo media player as well;and it was a poor spec sheet on its part.. forum.zidoo.tv/index.php?threads/how-to-decode-dts-ma-truehd-to-7-1-lpcm-hdmi-output.4908/"The Realtek SoC have DTS and Dolby licences only for Bitstream and Downmix 2.0." Thats what zapitti says about its processing ; I wonder what SOC the apple 4k has and its limits?

Wondering if anyone has a process to make input switching more reliable? Doesn’t take a very long time to get it to sync but it’s still pretty annoying to have to go back and forth just to get it to work. Seems to work pretty consistently on startup but it can only startup on last input used, so a lot of the time I have to switch.

Thats what zapitti says about its processing ; I wonder what SOC the apple 4k has and its limits? The ATV4K 5.1 content is delivered in MAT 2.0 format and the RMC-1 recognizes and reports 5.1 correctly. But on a true 5.1 system (which is not the usual config for 16 channel processor), only the front 2 speakers are used but no sound is lost. So the RMC-1 is down-mixing to 2-channels. Enabling the rears engages the center and surrounds but it seems reasonable to assume that the rear sound is lost. I'd like this fixed It seemed to happen more often when configured to energy efficient mode. - Rich
