What source material do you have that makes use of the wides? Would you list some titles? Like I said, I really hope there will be some (more) source material.. :-p I have not tested any wides so far, as my current setup is only 7.1 Emotive Lounge "list-atmos-movies-front-wides"Have seen some list on other forums also, but dont have them at hand Thanks for the link. I think that Wides are another 'Waiting for Godot' situation. Wides should have been two of the bed channels in 5.1, or the newest bed channels in 7.1. Instead, Wides are an object channel afterthought. The industry was so eager to put sound behind and above that they forgot we listen mostly to what we can see. For over a year, I set up my system with the Surrounds at 60 deg and the Backs at 120deg. This works well with most of the movies I have. It also still meets ITU specs. Floyd Toole mentions that he did something similar with his layout. It doesn't work as well with 5.1 music. For 5.1 music, I moved the Surround out connections to the Back amp input connections. This works well but would be nice as a RMC preset function. A small patch bay would work too.

I gave up on Emotiva and RMC-1 a few months ago. I bought a McIntosh MX123A and never had a single problem with it and have all the features. SO I encourage you to look at the MX123A.

Congrats on your purchase. Just looked at it, it's over twice as much money as the RMC-1. Too rich for my blood; I'll keep working around the few glitches in my XMC-2 and hoping FW 3.0 fixes them.

Love Mcintosh, but way out of my budget. Agree with JNieves....my XMC-2 works fine for now and hopefully better when the latest firmware is released. Enjoy!

I had that on mind too - but then, for the visual in the rack - need to kick and replace the DR3 and XPA7. And the MX123 does not come with Dirac.
This is a freaking lot of money, for just some movies in a month.
I can live with the RMC-1, even if they never fix the issues. I just don't care anymore. If a new FW will be out - I let others first test, see what new issues come with it, and then decide.
Same would go with the G4P Upgrade/Trade-In for me. Several weeks without my working setup is nothing I see as my Prio 1. Wait and see. All must arrive first.

Would be nice to have a simple Control4 driver from Emotiva. Hopefully they can provide this sometime soon.

I know everyone is frustrated with the firmware delays right now. I jumped ship a couple of months ago and went to a well known brand. The setup and interface were wonderful, but I could not match the sound quality of my XMC2 and sent the other unit back. I am willing to deal with the HDMI issue that I have for the sound quality and the eventual fix that is coming. I wish firmware updates were frequent to cover every issue that pops up, but the sound quality is superb and I think they do a lot for a small company.

Maybe customers that paid full price for the RMC-1 and don’t want to take the upgrade path, can exchange it for the RMC-1L and get a $1K refund. The rephrased question is: Will it be possible for RMC-1 owners to upgrade to a better unit (exactly the same functionality but in a smaller sized case with less of the useless fresh air inside it) and pay NOTHING for the exchange, finally ending up with an RMC-1L+? Due to the failure of any of the interesting, promised expansion units for the RMC-1, almost every single RMC-1 owner has effectively owned an RMC-1L all along, only in a more awkward sized chassis that doesn't fit easily into many cabinets

What brand? There is nothing wrong about mentioning a brand, especially if you thought it had inferior sound I know everyone is frustrated with the firmware delays right now. Mcintosh, under the face is same as Marantz 8805. Only face for that much money...? If I can, I prefer to use it for JBL or StormAudio. By the way, RMC-1 sound quality is far beyond of Marantz or Onkyo, Pioneer flagship processors. I mean, for the "Stereo" analog input with dirac engaged. AV also, I would say that it is much better than other major brand's processors. Perhaps I am a bit biased because I own RMC. Only thing I deeply regret is that Emo's firmware patch schedule(in fact there is no schedule at all, I feel) is really, really unreliable. Expansion board, HDMI 2.1 board, and more... felt like... cry wolf?

Due to the failure of any of the interesting, promised expansion units for the RMC-1, almost every single RMC-1 owner has effectively owned an RMC-1L all along, only in a more awkward sized chassis that doesn't fit easily into many cabinets The air inside an RMC is encased in metal with a lot of surface area. A bigger case is more heatsink. The G4P will have to dissipate about twice the power of a G3P. Will it have a fan?I wouldn't put a G3P inside a cabinet without a lot of useful fresh air flow. MTBF is cut in half for every 10 deg C past a certain point. My tiny cheap Panasonic UB-420 4K player has a tiny fan to help cool it because of heat generated by the video circuitry. My much larger Sony and oppo players require no fan. There is no free lunch. I see that the RMC-1 is a common chassis size for 9.1.6 processors - and some that have lesser channel counts. If the card slots were filled, it's actually compact.

I really hope we get the FW 3.0 soon, so we can talk about this - because the rest in said. G4P - too early to talk about Other brands - currently I don't care
I want my RMC-1 doing what's created for, just without issues.

Hello all. Currently I own a RMC-1L and continue to have problems with distortion while listening to 2 channel with DIRAC processing. If I switch it to Reference stereo the problem goes away. Switch it back to DIRAC filter distorted. Only in 2 channel. Never seemed to hear this issue when listening in surround sound. In 2 channel I prefer to use balanced in from my Oppo-UDP205. Either CDs or stream from my Roon Core. At one time I sent my unit in and they told me nothing was wrong that it was probably a cable or a component in my setup. So I switched all the HDMI cables to Rupio fiber optic HDMIs and now video remains on doesn't work and the noise remains........... I will say Emotiva has tried to be helpful but if I contact them they list a weeks worth of work to try and troubleshoot the issue. I just want to sit down and enjoy why is is so complicated? I have never had issues like this with any processor. Can anyone offer advice or should I just sell it and buy something else.

I think you are being very unreasonable. All this "I just want what I paid for" and "it's pretty unreasonable to be told to wait six months for a firmware update" talk isn't being much of a FanBoi. Go put your trusty Emotiva T-Shirt on and use the functionality that is currently working and stop moaning about all that other stuff you paid for ages ago. Jeeeeeeze.
