Many of us here, who are old enough, probably remember power amps that had fairly large turn on thumps. The thumps were normal. Some amps had them. Some didn't. I use a specific turn on/off sequence for equipment. There is still some mechanical relay noise emitted from some components. It's normal. My 20 amps, turned on all at once, produce a lot of relay clacking. When the outputs unmute, there is a brief and normal one second soft cacophony of ticks coming from the speakers, like brief applause when the conductor comes on stage. I dwell on that moment, then realize it's only the sound of the rise time of the amps slight DC offset appearing as the amps outputs unmute. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxNZg1WyeVI

Ditto, I’ve had four different amps triggered on/off with the RMC-1, never any noise from the speakers. What amp models are doing this? I will start with the fact that my Yammy CX-A5200, nor my Denon X4500, nor Denon X3600 which I used to own cause any pops on or start-up (or at any other time for that matter) with the same set of AMPs
I exclusively use LPM with XMC-2.
My AMPs:
Box1: 8 channel Hypex 250W per channel Box2: Primare A33.2 (LCR) Box3: Primare A33.2 (LCR)

I used them in number of systems, from HT with number of AVR / Processors to high-end stereo systems. Only XMC-2 causes the noise in one speaker.... it is not AMPs, it is XMC-2.
Actually the pop comes from only one channel of my 8 channel Hypex AMP witch has soft start built in. It is noise from XMC-2 that causes the speaker to make a nasty noise. With any other of my AVR / Pre it is all completely silent.

"Some amps had them. Some didn't." - Concerning thumps. On what channel does this noise occur? Is this noise occurring on the same channel for everyone who has this issue? I assume we are still talking about power up/down noise burst issues. It takes an RMC more than a minute to boot up. When do the RMC amp triggers fire in the RMC boot up process? They shouldn't be firing until the RMC is fully booted. There should also be a delay in RMC turn off to allow the amps to power down first. If not, this is a problem. Amplifier soft start only determines power supply inrush current. It usually has a time interval of only a second or two. It has nothing to do with output muting. Output muting is a another function on some amps. Output muting disengages once an amp power supply has stabilized - usually only a few seconds after amp turn on triggering. Output muting will reengage only when the amp is turned off, or there is a fault in the amp. My amps have soft start, PFC switching supplies, and output muting. Like I said in a previous post, I turn my amps on after the RMC is booted and turn them off first when shutting the system down. Perhaps I have the same turn on noise issue, and will never know it because of my boot sequence. I'll keep using my boot sequence. It is a safe way to power up/down the system - especially a HT system with many amplifiers and so much that can go wrong.

Do you have time sort of trigger switch to manage that? I would optimally like to find switch for just 12v triggers with a remote control or something like it.

No remote control, but I use a couple of these boxes, hooked the the trigger outs on my RMC-1, they allow me to switch between my HT amps, and 2C amps based on input (my 2C amps don’t have triggers). I use my finger. 5# of pressure on a power switch. There are a number of multi-switched power strip solutions, depending on your needs. www.amazon.com/s?k=rack+mounted+ac+power&i=electronics&crid=2NVQRN47BJZ2N&sprefix=rack+mounted+ac+power%2Celectronics%2C117&ref=nb_sb_noss_2The solution offered by AudioHTIT has DC and AC trigger options, and includes it's own AC switch.

Guess there is always hope for when I get back since I am leaving in the morning and wont be back till Dec 1 Prediction: Based on past experience the most reliable indicator of firmware/software releases from Emotiva and Dirac is that I am traveling for 2-3 weeks. Happens every time! Drops while I'm away and I miss all the excitement! So friends, you are in luck because I will be gone 20 days ... and even better, I will be off the grid for 14 of them! So I look forward to lively chatter on the thread when I return from the Great White North View AttachmentView AttachmentProbably more likely while I am in Egypt later this year for 3 weeks actually(thanksgiving time)

When is the FW fix coming? What will be fixed? IT’S TIME. ****has to be spoken in the style of THE VOICE from action movie trailers, to get the full effect****** It is indeed time. 295 days since the last update. 210 days since I was told the v3.0 software was "a week or so" from being made available. Giddy up!!!

When is the FW fix coming? What will be fixed? IT’S INEXCUSABLY PAST TIME. But it does not matter, my Anthem AMV 70 8K AND AVM 90 BOTH JUST WORK FLAWLESSY!! "I tried to tell you all these devices were at the end of their life cycle, more than once!" I'm keeping my Emo but they now are second string and don't see much action. I am almost afraid to turn them on because not once has UPS given me a discount on the many shipments from me to Franklin TN!

I’m sticking with Emotiva and while not waiting per se, I’ll be upgrading to the gen4 due to the cost effectiveness of this option. Until then this XMC-2 gen3 processor will be just fine as I don’t have any issues except for HDMI/CEC that is not a big issue with my ATV4K.

All I will say is that this update needs to be a BIG update with a lot of squashed bugs. The new processor is a year away... I'm not looking for new features, just fixing the issues that exist. Or... acknowledge the fact that there is no firmware development, or the issues cannot be fixed.

Or... acknowledge the fact that there is no firmware development, or the issues cannot be fixed. I don't think you're going to see it fix a ton. I think there were limitations with the hardware they used and its been an uphill battle. I've tossed around the idea of moving onto something different but my RMC-1L mostly just works. There is not a pre/pro I can find that has both balanced XLR in and a USB audio in. The Emotiva pre/pros seem to be it. It works very well with my Apple TV 4K (V2) & my Oppo 205. I use a Nintendo Switch from time to time, the the balanced XLR input and the USB audio in. Again they all work well and sound excellent. The biggest issue I have is with playing SACDs. Clicks and pops are prevalent and take away from the listening experience. I also get couple of clicks and pops (very quiet) on start up. This doesn't bother me or interfere with my enjoyment. I hope they fix this issue but it's not a deal breaker for me. Not even going to think about G4 until I see it in the wild. This is currently all I need.

At the end of the day, it's about being honest and transparent. Don't slow roll me with "it's coming". If the platform has limitations and there are issues that cannot be fixed, just say it. I'm in a position where my pre/pro is OK, it aggravates me at times, but with the external HDMI switch, it's "OK". My beef is with Emotiva as a company, trust is fragile, when broken it's hard to get it back.
