I think the Covid has taken a toll on their inventory and shipping. I ordered a dac a few weeks back and the note on their website was that they "could" be on backorder....it did not say they were actually on backorder. I ordered and then waited for a shipping confirmation. A week went by and nothing. I sent them an email and received a replay a day later that they were on backorder and should ship within a week. It did ship and I got it. My card was not officially charged till it shipped.
I guess the website is not updated real time.

Grado, and I already have my Rega P1 on a Mani so I will just stick with that. It comes out to $1066 with fedex ground shipping to Houston. I have it loaded in the cart, just have to enter CC info. Hi, any updates on the sol? I ordered mine 5 days after you and still no status.

I’ve emailed them a few times and they always tell me it will be a few days for shipping.

Yes Schiit shipping is a bit slow. It took a bit to get my Modius. Love that thing. Sorry about the dust. Was too excited when I took the picture. Can't wait to hear more about Sol!

Got it set up yesterday. Did not really have a chance to listen it it much, but I will get a chance tonight. It was much easier to set up then I feared. So far I have not had to adjust anything.

View AttachmentOh boy that looks great. Both the Modius and the new asgard (is that what I see on your desk?) are really good values imo. At this point I believe it's time for them to rework the Jotunheim to keep up with the changes.

Nice, looks good! Wish I could have picked one up when I was down that way, but they obviously need more than a week’s notice. Is the cork platter cushion yours or is that what it comes with, it’s different that what looks like black rubber on the website? I’ll be interested in your opinion on the Grado too. I already have a Sonata and was headed back toward an MC, but seems like a reasonable price for what should be a decent cartridge. Edit: As a nitpick, I wish they would have used Tiffany RCA’s, a cartridge signal is the most justifiable place to use the best connectors possible.

You think somebody who is a real beginner at this - like adjustment and stuff would be able to do it?

It’s one of the changes they made for the after “beta” model. I’ll try my best to see how the Grado sounds, but the only TT I’ll really be able to compare it to will be my Rega P1 with the Carbon cart.

Ok thanks, good info, is anything else different than what’s in the website photos? Looking closely at the connectors they do at least look gold, is that the case? What’s the power supply like, brick or wall wart? Can you post a photo? I’m building a floating shelf and want to enclose as many of the dirty details as possible, including the XPS-1.

View AttachmentView AttachmentVery nice!!! I just checked the status of mine and it should get here on Monday. Today was the 30 day mark since I ordered. There were no indications that they were on back order. I did inquire about buying another tone arm so the cartridge swap would be easier but they are not selling the arms themselves. Looking forward to hearing feedback on your initial impressions.

Keep in mind per Jason's latest entries into Schiit Happens the story of the most improbable start up, there will be fewer launches of new products. Last couple of years have been banner years for new products. You'll notice that all products are now "Thunderdome" status. Read up what that means on Headfi.org www.head-fi.org/threads/schiit-happened-the-story-of-the-worlds-most-improbable-start-up.701900/This is updated periodically by Jason from time to time. Check in from time to time to get the latest Schiit. and stay current on the Schiit order.

davidl81 , I'm designing my turntable shelf, it looks like the Sol is slightly smaller than my current Thorens, how much space W x D do you feel it needs to be 'comfortable'? I will have space around the shelf, so I'm just concerned about surface space. I'm considering 20 x 18, and would like to hold it at that, what do you think? The phono pre will be inside, is there a brick? And even more importantly how do you like it? Has it met your expectations? Any trouble? Hope you don't mind all the questions, Thanks --Bruce

The big difference with the Sol is that it is really two separate pieces (three if you count the pre-amp). You have the actual TT, but the the motor sits independently of the TT. Just the rubber drive belt attaches the two and you actually just move the motor further away from the TT to adjust the tension of that band. But I just went measure and the shelf mine sits on is 16" deep, but the platter its self is slightly over the edge of the shelf, but the feet are on the shelf. So in this picture the motor is basically at the edge of the shelf and the feet for the Sol are about one inch away from the front edge. The unit comes with a wall wart that plugs into the Sol, then it has a power cable from the Sol to the motor. Sound wise I like it very much and it is a nice improvement form my Rega P1. Just has more detail and a slightly fuller sound. I tried to use it at first without the anti skate weight, but it would slide on certain records. Once I put the weight on that issue has gone away.

@david81 Thanks for the post! Is the frame of the Sol Black and the motor and preamp silver? Thanks so much! 👍

@david81 Thanks for the post! Is the frame of the Sol Black and the motor and preamp silver? Thanks so much! 👍 The frame is black and the motor and platter are silver. The Mani preamp comes in either silver or black. I already had the silver one (used it on the Rega) so I didn't bother changing it.
