I don’t know if anyone cares and don’t want to sidetrack the thread, but I’ve had the monolith for a few days now with my XMC-2 back in the box. My biggest concern was it wouldn’t sound as great as the XMC2, but it really does sound great. Not identical to the XMC 2 but similar. I was really disappointed with the DTS performance of the emotiva, and I know most didn’t find issue with it, but DTS on the monolith sounds great to me. Whatever I was hearing that sounded off to me is not there and thats a huge plus for me bc that was one of my major concerns with the emotiva. Lastly, setup and functionality are right on the money. With the web UI it takes a few minutes to get all the settings correct, and it worked as it should from the second I turned it on. I had to wrestle with the emotiva and buy new cables to get it to work consistently and even still it suffered from audio dropouts and hdmi sync issues. Dirac also worked without issue, but I only did a single point measurement and it was my first time using it. Cons: It’s not as customizable as the G3P. I don’t know if it’s fully balanced, and I don’t believe it has a dedicated dac on any of the channels. It has no OSD, which was a concern of mine, but I’m fine with now. Also, doesn’t feel as high end as XMC: built quality is a slight step down, Packaged like a $500 receiver, and has the remote of cheap blu ray player. But in the End the SQ and functionality are there. I’m just putting this out there bc I put a lot of thought into this. I’m not one who usually returns stuff, and I really wanted to keep the XMC, And really wanted to believe it would be everything it’s supposed to be. but with the warranty period looming I’m sure I’m not the only giving this thought, so I figured I’d offer some insight. Feel free to message me

Feel free to message me people keep saying this about the warranty. Without a formal notification to each purchasing party that the warranty clock has started, they are going to face legal troubles. I refuse to believe the clock has started. This would rank near the top of the "stupid list". The community backlash that will ripple for years for trying to hide behind a suggestive forum post will be painful. I get so frustrated every time I see a customer walk away over things Emotiva won't even publicly acknowledge. Good luck to you.

I know they haven’t said anything official about the return window but they told me over the phone it starts when you get Dirac. Either way, even if it’s extended, I was frustrated and it didn’t make much sense in my specific situation to wait and hope it becomes something that I could just go out and buy now. So in case anyone else was thinking along the same lines, I figured I’d share my limited experience, and offer some more insight through DM or email.

I guess we'll just all enjoy being in an extended beta program for the first 3 years of market delivery. Hopefully things drastically improve very soon for the remainder of us still on the fence.

I was thinking about what I would do if I gave up on the XMC-2....what would I replace it with? Extremely tough decision especially for those of up who traded in an XMC-1 and got that great trade-in price. If I went with a mainstream manufacturer such as Marantz or Yamaha in terms of a pre-pro, I would end up paying between $2K - $3K....way above my trade-in price. I could compromise with a $1K - $1.5K receiver....but then I'd be missing XLR inputs/outputs. I like those. Would still be paying extra. I've also read that even these mainstream units are buggy, though maybe less so. Am I trading one headache for another? I really like the Emotiva XMC-2 and just want the audio problems to be fixed. Once that is done, for my purposes, all else seems to be working well.

For me, it's about looking at the historical trend and being pretty sure those trends will continue. I don't mind spending a little more to eliminate this constant circle of madness. Something as simple as a real roadmap and some accountability would make a world of difference.

Technically your trade in price was $2k+ since the XMC-1 is worth $1k +- and you had to give that up plus the $1k cash. They're basically selling the XMC-2's at $2.2k for those who trade in, since they turn around and sell the XMC-1's for $1.2k.

I guess, but don't forget that I also got five years of use and enjoyment out of the XMC-1. Not forgetting, however that doesn't mean the XMC-1 is worth $0. Instead, it means your 5 years of use and enjoyment cost you what you paid for the XMC-1 - $1k (current value of used XMC-1's).

Feel free to message me What is the issue with the DTS playback on XMC-2?? Applies to RMC-1 and RMC-1L too? Yeah like others I would not have much choices - Monolith has no xlr inputs and does not seems to be full balanced. No OSD too I have no budget for prepro above 5k Thanks

No OSD too I have no budget for prepro above 5k Thanks I don’t believe it’s a confirmed issue. Some people believe there’s an issue with Emotivas implementation of dts, and more specifically dts neural x. But probably more people either don’t have the issue or don’t see it as an issue. It’s kind of confusing in that regard. But there is a thread here Thats dedicated to it that will do a better job explaining it than I can. But definitely seems like it’s only an issue for a small group of us so I don’t want to make it seem like it’s a very common bug or something. Just was a big issue for me. emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/57108/rmc-xmc-upmix-neural-issues

Others either can't hear it or don't have the problem. Since there is no official bug list, we don't really know if Emotiva recognizes any DTS issues.

Can someone at Emotiva please let us know they are aware of some of the Firmware 2.0 issues and are working on getting it at least back to Firmware 1.10 level of stability?

Firmware 2.0 is completely unusable on my XMC-2 now that I have it hooked up to my Panasonic TV instead of my projector (need to get the projector hung since I moved). Ended up going back to 1.10. Don't know how Emotiva released this firmware because it pretty much never works at least on my setup.

In my system, the only problem that I have is the "loss of audio" that occurs intermittently. Dirac is working and sounds great. I don't have clicks, pops, or other weird noises. The biggest problem, and it is big, is the loss of audio....I know it's being worked and keeping my fingers crossed that a solution will be coming soon.

On my system the XMC-2 has locked up many times right on power on. When it does work it is extremely slow (hit a button and it takes at least a minute maybe longer to respond). Took various reboots to even use it. Before when I was using it with my Sony projector it worked great. Processor was fast and had no issues. With my old Panasonic plasma however with version 2 installed it is completely unusable. I tried hooking the TV into each of the HDMI outputs as well and also used a different HDMI cable. Going back to version 1.10 fixed the issue so I will be sticking with 1.10 until the next update. Really hoping Emotiva gets this resolved.

Mine was pretty solid until I bought a 4K TV two days ago. This morning I cannot get it to bring up audio at all, and the XMC-2 keeps switching to input 2, which has nothing connected to it. I switch it back and it switches to input 2 again. I have to unplug everything and wait a few minutes to get it to work again.
