Just wanted to share my in-room response of these great speakers before any dsp room correction, of which they need very little. My room is 40'x19'x18', and the speakers are 4 1/2 ' out from front wall.

I use var for designing filters, and psychoacoustic to step back to get the big picture, as here.
With Var, REW is determining only 1-2 filters of about 3db, so not too much correction needed.
Then, I add a target curve that rises 2.5 db/octave from 200 down to 20 hz, and declines 1db/octave from 1 khz to 20khz.

Looks nice and smooth. I assume this is with the bass module. What do you use for a DAC? Why did you use a lower level 50 db tone? Was this from your listening position or near the speakers?

No bass module here, just the 3.6/r....don't need more, imo.
REW, when using rta vs sweep produces this level, even when a 75db spl is set up.
The dac is a sabre 9018 built into my Mcintosh c2600 - when implemented with Mc's superbly engineered analog stage and power supplies, sounds just great. I sold my Directstream after hearing this. Just one of the reasons this pre lists for a modest $7,500.
From my listening position, 15'2" back from the front wall. About 65 degrees to each speaker. No special room treatments, just careful placement.

And couldn't resist a pic from my trip to Audio Classics in Binghamton, just two hours from me and 15 minutes from the McIntosh factory. - these have never been shipped anywhere!

Sweet rig. I bet that Mc preamp did the right thing with the that Sabre dac that many dislike.

Thanks, I think so. I've had an ANK tube based multibit, the DC1, the Directstream and others and was a Sabre disbeliever. Not anymore. great detail as well as depth, sweet midrange, etc.
As they say, it's all in the implementation.
Although among all the Tubes, Maggies, Autoformers, Sabre dac and Roon streaming, I'm very sure @keithl would get hives at my house!

Personally the sound didn't really sell itself to me. However, I haven't heard their older tube gear which I would be interested in like the 275. I can't think of a better looking tube amp imo. Also I have heard one of the newer saber's and I thought they've quite improved over the older models. This was on the mytek liberty

Many think the MC275 Mk VI, as here, is the best sounding version yet, green lights and all.

Very nice Bill, all around! I agree the newer 275 is a winner and a beauty (having had a pair of the originals many years ago), also toured the Mac factory back in the Gordon Gow days. Are your Maggies the standard ‘Dark Cherry’? They look like mine, which after I couldn’t talk them into ‘natural cherry’, they sent me the wood and let me finish them myself. However, photos are very light dependent.
