Disc or files? Disc any day and always prefer. If I'm spending $dollars, I want something physical, it gives me flexibility to put into a player or digitize file to HDD. My office equipment is older, but good quality that plays disc, none of it streams. We do love the ability to Stream content though. We've been using Vortexbox for many years, but lately, we click a file and it's empty- gone. If I didn't have the disc, I'd be really p.o. I still play DVDs and the Sony UBP X-800 does a good job upscaling. I've recently switched over to Volumio, it's just a better server OS because it gets updates, has a support team (Vortexbox is one guy) and has become a "standard" throughout the industry. I like the ability to add plugins, I don't need to write Fedora terminal commands. Every music file we have is FLAC and plays well for general, casual listening. Having the disc allows me the use of different DACs which I can't do with files. I recently got a Fluance vinyl spinner for those decades old, dusty LPs. So call me an old fart who can't release the disc idea.
I'm with novisnick, I prefer the video and audio of disc vs streaming.
