So my wife left her craft room door open nearly a week ago by accident. Asher [our youngest] got into a yarn pile. A day later he vomited up several feet of yarn. A couple days later he vomited up several more feet of yarn. Since then, two days ago he's been vomiting up bile and not eating while demonstrating a lot less activity. My vet recommends a trip to the Pet ER room ......... oh boy, looks like surgery for the little guy this evening. Oh man....that sucks.....fingers crossed. Was it "flavored" yarn??

AS with the others - I hope the little guy is OK. Our cats (4) have suddenly taken to getting out spools of ribbon my wife uses in her job. We wake up to find out they've pulled more out. None has been ingested so far, thank goodness.

Thanks fellas,
I feel kinda ridiculous for how I feel at the moment for a beast in a time of great societal apathy. Little guy Asher has been the living object of my affection for near a year. How does one translate the reciprocal affection into monetary value? When does one say enough is enough? Tonight we took Asher to the ER where they performed x-rays to find his intestine has now bunched up and won't allow the obstruction to pass. Asher now needs surgery and won't survive without it. I have one last hope for the little guy through the Humane Society first thing in the morning.

Update: The Humane Society is performing the surgery now while allowing me to make affordable payments. Up until this point I had no idea that the Humane Society was a non profit organization. The ER hospital quoted me several thousand dollars to perform Asher's surgery whereas the Humane Society quoted me a best case scenario of one thousand dollars. Call me the big bad Health Insurance company for juggling the monetary value of life. All in all I would never of found out about the Humane Society if I did not take Asher to the ER.
In hindsight I believe all our earthly relationships are here to prepare us for something better in the next life. So many realizations in these last few days as I acknowledge how cold, apathetic, and distant I've been even justifying my impartial or non emotional state towards others as a healthy detachment. In a time when I think caring for animals in contrast w/ humans idolatrous I find myself reexamining everything I once thought.
Thank you everyone for your generous sentiments and prayers. I await the surgeons call and hopefully might pick up Asher tomorrow or in the next few days. I can only imagine what people are feeling right now when they can't be by the bedside of hospitalized beloved persons for CV-19 justifications.
Hope my little cuddle buddy will be back soon enough to enjoy cozying up on the couch while listening to our favorite jazz.

"reexamining everything I once thought" is defined as "growth." Many go through their entire lives without any.
It is a healthy process - Painless? Not so much.

12 feet between the mains....very broad soundstage yes. Four driver center array powered by 400+@8ohm. The imaging of the mains can also be altered via remote control. Nice setup, I'm also curious by what appears as a subwoofer on only one side. Do you ever experience a psychological effect thinking the bass or low end is coming from only one direction? The asymmetry of having one sub in front of me on soundstage just killed me for months. Not to mention I kept favoring looking towards the side w/ the subwoofer whenever a bass note was impactful. No offense intended to anyone but one of my pet peeves is that many folks do not properly understand the purpose of a subwoofer, that is a sub woofer and not a woofer. A woofer is normally the lowest driver in a speaker. The subwoofer is a separate powered speaker (I dislike speakers with a supposedly built it sub woofer, for obvious reasons), designed to go below the normal low end of a conventional speaker. Many good dynamic speakers, are rated to play at -3dB's down to the 40-60hz range for towers and 60-80Hz for bookshelf. Yeah I know some are supposedly good down to 30-40Hz or so, usually an exaggeration. The important fact is with newer music and movie videos with really strong low bass extension (in the 80Hz and lower range), the sub woofer fills in the previously mostly ignored high quality very low end. Those who are aware of a sub playing at any location in the room simply have the sub playing too high in frequency (above 80Hz). Normally we cannot detect the location of a sub playing below 80Hz. It should always be filtered/crossed at 80Hz or sometimes even lower. ..... Stereo subwoofers are a huge misnomer. In any recording that has both LFE bass and regular bass below 80Hz, with your system properly set up, all that bass will be directed as below 80Hz mono to the sub(s). Many times one sub is sufficient in small to med size rooms and two subs is OK especially in larger rooms, but do not have to be played or located as stereo subs. For example if one decides to have two subs to make the low bass output more smoothly audible all over the room, one sub might be in the left front corner and one sub along one of the side walls. or other placements in the room and not necessarily symmetrical. ..... Some say well my towers go down to 40Hz and I don't want to cut them off at 70-80Hz. Sorry, a good subwoofer will easily out perform the tower in that low range and doubling that say 40-80Hz is a no-no and makes for muddy undefined low bass. ..... Other will say I can hear that the sound of that drum is coming from the right front. The answer is that the drum sound below 80Hz is actually coming from the subwoofer on the side wall (or other location) but the drum sound above 80Hz is coming thru the right front speaker giving you its actual location in the recording session. Again, no offense intended especially to Shimei's older system photo below that I use as an example. We have IMO a mistake in sub choice and placement. I'm presuming he thought he needed stereo subs. Not necessary with 80Hz cross for the mains and the subwoofer. He could have crossed/LF his mains over at 80Hz. The Klispch entry level Synergy towers are probably in the 50Hz or so range at -3dB's. He might have simply had just one sub of higher performance and cost anywhere near or at the front of the room. Some might say what is this Nut talking about? In a normal dynamic 3-way bookshelf or tower speaker, for example, we might have a tweeter, midrange and woofer. They operate in their own frequency area with the use of crossovers/filters. Same when we add a subwoofer. It continues the frequency response way down and separate below the woofer's range. William, sorry about your little precious Asher and hope for the best. Noriko and I both love cats! (and dogs)

...A woofer is normally the lowest driver in a speaker. The subwoofer is a separate powered speaker (I dislike speakers with a supposedly built it sub woofer, for obvious reasons)...I question the logic of your antipathy for built in subs. Yes, there is one negative - the speaker location for best imaging is virtually never the best speaker location for smooth bass. But in exchange for that minor impediment, you get not one but TWO powered subwoofers in the system and the benefit of smoother room response more than makes up for the slightly less ideal subwoofer location. Further, having only two speakers in the room (each with their internal powered sub) has far greater WAF than having two speakers and one or two additional butt-ugly black and massive subwoofer boxes, not to mention their additional power and signal wiring. And finally, having an integrated sub does away with the issues of choosing the proper subwoofer crossover frequency and slope. One also escapes the phase-matching and level-matching issues between the sub(s) and the main speakers. Having the manufacturer match the sub to the speaker also does away with the likelihood of hearing any discontinuity between the speakers and the subs. So for one (usually minor) negative, there are a BUNCH of positives in having a built-in, self-powered subwoofer in a pair of speakers. In short, I think your "obvious reasons" are conspicuous only in their absence, @tllfkacn.

I have never set up my subwoofers in stereo but utilize a mono signal then and now. I picked up the Klipsch Synergy or a second because of the deal. I considered the 12" downward firing subwoofer w/ 600 watt BASH amp a good deal at 250 bucks. I remember I had the Klipsch mains in my first and old system crossed over high pass around 40hz and the Subwoofers overlapping somewhat with a low pass of 80hz. I realize symmetry might not be ideal for subwoofer location but considering the mental effects of the impact having asymmetrical positions mental wise I choose symmetry. My OCD won't settle for anything less! I have a feeling you'll have to convince me thinking wise to succumb to ideal subwoofer location rather than visual in order to get me to rearrange my gear! Be merciful Chuckie! It was my first home audio system!
