I just tried unsuccessfully to hook the PS5 to my MC700. I googled this issue and found some stuff about HDMI 2.0 v 2.1. Please tell me there is a way to use these new consoles with the MC700.

I have tried several iterations with the PS5 myself as well. When I hook it up directly to my TV, it works no questions asked at 2160p UHD HDR. Then as soon as I route it through the MC-700 it goes black. I am using the 1-3 HMDI ports on the pre-pro and everything.
I have even forced the PS5 to downgrade to 1080p and 720p resolution and then it still won’t work through the mc-700.

You'll wanna report that so they can hopefully figure it out soon.

The mc700 has finicky hdmi inputs that arent all hdmi 2.0 hdcp2.2 ones that can handle 4k uhd from a ps5. hdmi 4-6 are 1.4 and 2k compatible but cant handle newer hdcp protocols or hdr etc I assume your using certified 18gbps hdmi cables ; theres lots of cheap cables that have poor bandwidth out there Nothing available at all that is hdmi 2.1 for all the frame rate possibilities of hdmi including 120fps frame rates . The new denon/marantz and yamaha models have a problem that will be fixed next year so dont try to future proof yet ...

Yes. I am using the 18Gb/s cables that are HDMI Premium Certified. Also using HDMI inputs 1-3 and using HDMI output 1. Still nothing.
Any other thoughts?

They will likely have an answer which may or may not be beneficial, but you should at least know. Edit: From the specs of the MC700: Video Inputs And Outputs (6) HDMI compliant video inputs (3 with HDMI 2.0a / HDCP 2.2 / HDR10 / 4K 30 Hz support / OSD on 1.4 inputs). (2) HDMI compliant video outputs (1 with HDMI 2.0a / HDCP 2.2 / HDR10 / 4K 30Hz support). You don't have 2.1 obviously, but I'm wondering if you need to tell the Sony PS5 what to output? Sorry if this is a stupid question....I still have a fat PS3! Edit 1: Googling around and there was mention that even if you don't have HDMI 2.1 on your tv, receiver, processor....you should use the 2.1 cable that came with the PS5....I'm sure you have tried that....

So I did call emotiva last week and they were like, “huh, sorry”. I have tried to have the PS5 purposely cast lower resolution, even 720. But none of those lower resolution settings got the MC-700 to pick up the signal. Even if that lower resolution trick did work, I don’t want to sacrifice the graphics quality because my receiver can’t hack it.

A few things to try: 1) Power the MC-700 all the way first, then power on the PS5 <-- always use this sequence with the MC 2) Hardset your PS5 to 1080P, but switch to one of the inputs on 4-6 3) Try the other video output

Update: by powering the MC-700 fully on and then powering up the PS5 I got it to display the initial PS screen but then it went black to never return. 😞
I tried the ARC function. I hooked the PS5 up to the TV as HDMI2 and then had the HDMI1 input ARC cord down to the HDMI 1 ARC output in the MC-700. No audio. Did I have those cords arranged correctly?

I selected HDMI ARC on the MC-700 as well.

Not sure what TV you have, but the ARC compatible input should be labeled "ARC" (there's only one). Make sure you're using that input. On the MC-700, HDMI Output 1 is the "primary" output and is ARC compatible (HDMI Out 2 is not). If you are plugging into the correct inputs/outputs as I've stated above, then go to the settings in both your TV and your MC-700 and make sure CEC is enabled (conventional ARC requires CEC). Then, on your TV, go to your "sound" options and make sure "ARC" is selected. After ensuring that those changes are made, reboot both your TV and your MC-700.

I have a Vizio E series 65” TV.
After I checked that the cords were in the right spot, I did double check the CEC setting on the TV. It was already enabled, so I tried ARC only. I then rebooted the TV and then rebooted the MC-700 and then restarted the PS5 last. Video to TV was fine but still no audio through the MC-700.
I guess my other option would be to try and turn down the resolution on the PS5 to 1080 but I really don’t want to sacrifice the video quality for the audio if the MC-700 isn’t going to play ball.
Also, just read an article that even the new receivers that have HMDI 2.1 still aren’t working all the time with the PS5 due to glitches. I will say that this is the most glitchy game system release I have ever seen. Seems like they rushed it to keep up with X-box and skipped some very obvious troubleshooting steps.

Well... it was worth a shot. ARC can be “swing and a miss” in some setups or a “grand slam” in others. I’ve had both. Spending that much money on a “state of the art” gaming platform, I wouldn’t settle for dumbing down the resolution to get a signal through an outdated AVP. As a last resort, if you don’t mind getting only basic 5.1 Dolby Digital (while still getting full resolution video), you could try a simple Toslink connection between your TV and MC-700. ARC may be flaky and difficult to get working, but this basic solution should work on any system.

Hello,
First time Emotiva owner with an MC-700 and a PS5 here. From what I've been reading the connection issues between PS5/XBSX and receivers/processors have run into similar bugs across multiple brands. Denon and Marantz are rolling out adapters that bridge the consoles to the receivers with a corrected signal. I've been running into the same problem (audio and video dropping out) between a direct connection from the PS5 to the MC-700. Current workaround has been to use an HDMI splitter with one output going directly to the TV and the second output to the MC-700. Still does not resolve the audio dropouts, though.

Makes complete sense graydeathlegi0n ; there are too many new features like auto low latency mode (ALLM) and quick frame transport (QFT) that 2.0 cant handle. Of course rates like 4k/120 and 8k/60 are far too much bandwidth when games get these sort of refresh rates one day. No surprise there is a replacement model coming ; hopefully it will have multiple 2.1 ports not the joke in/out dongle the D/M Holdings models are getting as a quick cheap fix

I have a Vizio P series E-1 65 inch, with the PS5 in the 3rd slot on the MC700. Right away I got sound but a black screen. My info said I was 720p HDR. So I turned off the PS5 only and then I pushed the power button and held until I heard two beeps. I then got a safe start screen in 480p which prompted me to plug in my controller. I was given options and I changed the resolution to 1080p and everything worked. Screen and sound....but only in 1080p HDR not 2160 HDR like my Oppo player (slot 1) and Apple 4ktv (slot 2) do fine with the MC700. I read that I can go back to the safe start screen and change the HDCP to 1.4 and this might correct the issue to get 2160 HDR vs 1080 HDR. If that doesn't work then I'll just go with 1080p HDR until I get a replacement for the MC700. Just not sure why I can get 2160p HDR with the Oppo and Apple 4ktv but not the PS5.
