Update, I’ve looked at a few $250. Mesh systems and read the boxes. Interesting! Wifi 6 is a new standard?
My Netgear router had been working for some time now, I’m guessing 1-1 1/2 years and now my Ipad and phones see the network but don’t get on the internet. If I reboot both the modem and then the router my ipad will work on the Netgear wifi for 10-20 minutes and then no internet. iPad still sees the wifi but no internet.
I thought perhaps too many connections so I unplugged a few yet still no dice. Would one think that the router has died? Anyones thought please

I would start by plugging a laptop or PC directly into the router and see how that goes. This will allow you to troubleshoot your Internet connection, separately from your WiFi.

I have a computer that I can plug into the router. What then? I looked at the router last night and everything looked right. I forget if i was connected via wired or wifi after a reboot.

Well if it keeps working then your ISP is good, your cable modem is good, your router is good, and only the WiFi part of the router maybe in question.

Looking into a Mesh WIFI 6 system for my home. Any and all experiences, advice and recommendations requested. I’ve looked at a few reviews via CNET and YouTube as well as posts on Amazon about specific systems. They seem to work for a particular setup or they don’t. A very mixed bag of experiences and recommendations.
What say you?

A very mixed bag of experiences and recommendations. What say you? I’ve been using a TP-Link Deco X20 3 pack for some months with zero problems. I don’t use it as router only as access points as I use a pfSense firewall appliance. We have WiFi 6 devices like iPhone Minis as well as 2.4 GHz WiFi devices like Rokus, 5 GHz MacBook Pro, HP laptop, Yi cameras, even a pottery kiln controller all work flawlessly. Good signal throughout 4500 sq ft house + 3 car garage and about 50-100 ft and in places more in the yard around the house. All 3 units are connected through cat 5 wired Ethernet and TP-Link gigabit switches .

Another problem solved, so it seems. TP-Link Deco X20 install and setup was pretty easy and adding my cameras was so simple once I figured it out. really wasn't difficult adding them on. So far I'm very happy. some more testing and then just wait to find out how it does. Speed test showed blazing speeds, right at what I pay for. Ive never seen these speeds on WIFI before! The literature states that this system can handle 150 devices, plenty for my needs. Thanks everyone for the help!
Peace, Nick

Hey that's great Nick! I'm a little confused. I had a little issue with my wifi today. Two smart lights stopped responding. Not sure if it was a problem with the app the bulb or the wifi. I reset the router and after about 20 minutes everything came back up and started working. I will have to see if this is a recurring problem or some weird glitch somewhere.

It always amazing to me to see such different results for internet speeds. This test run is actually on the slower end of my internet speeds as Comcast recently upped my areas speed by 200Mbps to 1200Mbps. In the very near future, a few months, I'll be cutting the cable cord, dumping Comcast and going with fiber optic from MetroNet. MetroNet has no capps on data, and doesn't up-charge "Internet" only service like Comcast does. This way I can just have "Internet" service through MetroNet and select my preferences for streaming TV(YouTube TV/SlingTV/etc.,etc.) and only pay half of what I'm now paying for Comcast services. Nice thing about fiber optic is the download also is your upload speed and isn't affected by how many other users in your area are on-line, IOW, the 500Mbps or 1Gbps plans I've pre-signed up for is my bandwidth and no one elses.

This is what it’s like to be great full for what I have and I don’t have dial-up! I definitely get your situation Nick and would also be greatful if I were you. I'm just amazed that internet speed/communications technology in some of the more rural areas of the US hasn't advanced more quickly than what it has. My hometown of St. Albans, WV is around 10,000 population, yet has advanced internet speeds comparable to where I'm located now in the Tallahassee, FL metro area of almost 200,000 population. Yet the Lake Charles, LA/Suddenlink ISP in your speedtest is lucky to get speeds at or below 200Mbps. I guess it's just one of the mysteries of life.

I'm jealous. I'd take the lowest of what's available to you and count my blessings....no streaming allowed here! The downside to country living! Cheers! Chuck

Locally they offer 1 G but I’m not sure if they really offer it. Our local company is dubbed “SuddenStink” for more reasons then I have time to explain! Very sad indeed. I may upgrade just to avoid the data cap. We’ve found ourselves disinterested in most anything on cable tv but they know the game and have done the math. Mother watch’s it or I’d dig much deeper into the math. I’m in no rush to hand SuddenStink more money but even less interested in loosing mom. I don’t game so speed isn’t that important and connectivity hasn’t been a real problem until the old router started acting up.
