Bluetooth has at best an 8 ft range, with Galaxy s6 about 3ft, s10 about 8 foot as long as you don't move around on the couch, and Galaxy tab doesn't even find it. Also volume using BT is very low even with volume of device at max. Am I doing something wrong? Also has anyone tried the balance controls, zero isn't silent going full right, or left, Id say at about 20 percent volume coming from speaker is this designed this way?... I've checked connections several times. Also I would think the PT1 would be optimized for the Emotiva speakers, but the mids are just terrible and the highs are tiring, so much that I tried an old EQ for a few days. Switched to bi-wire from the XPA2 and seemed to help a little, IDK. I know its priced low, but, so far not a fan... I do like the easy to use remote and interface though. The FM tuner works great and pulls in as much as my old Technics ST7300. Maybe I'm spoiled by the old Technics SU7100/SU7100 musicality and separation, but music I've heard on many different systems now sounds dull and lifeless. Yes I've fiddled with the trim. With and without a sub(with no LFE) trying switching both the outs back and forth. Ill give it a few more days, but at this point I'm looking elsewhere. I'm sure Ill get flamed for this, but if anyone has any ideas. Using Project carbon esprit with Ortofon blue, and an older blue ray for CD.s Audio Quest Cinnamon cables.

where are all the reviews ? I noticed a boatload of PT100 popped up on ebay. did everyone order one of these? I have one . still playing with it. not anything bad to say yet. repacing a Parasound C2 with it. not sure how it compares yet. its simpler and no negatives yet. not sure if there was a reason I needed this one over the pt100 but it has built in blue tooth and the volume control seems ok. i like that it is all analogue which I tend to favor over digital.

My Parasound P5 preamp was a replacement for the P3 so you can pick one of those up for a few 100$ or so. My P5 is replaced by the P6 which MIGHT have a better DAC and it also has a display! Otherwise identical. I'll stick with my P5, thanks for asking. If you are happy with your PT100 or whatever it's called? Obsess Not. If you can make use of the additional features? Consider it....

Ive had the Parasound P3, P5 , P6 and P7 lol.....I still have the c2 in case I decide this wasnt worth the investment. I havnt listened to the PT1 enough yet.``````````

You are just what the hifi industry LOVES. Me? I'm not wealthy enough for 'The churn' so I benerally leave well enough alone.
However, I Do know that a motivated shopper can get 'the best' from a year or 3 back for a Fraction Of Retail.....which for some is where the leverage lies.
Hope your PT1 works out, but I have NO idea why you sent off for one!

It was impulse. I get worried at times that the older stuff is going to die but truth is its probably going to outlast me.
20yrs ago they werent pinching pennies like today where everything is throw away merch.
Im sending it back though.

Switches are good for thousands of cycles. MTBF for semiconductors is a REAL long time. Resistor and capacitors should last a LONG time.
My problem with current gear is the very Brittle Solder which no longer contains Lead, a fairly soft metal....
Also, and as a result, many companies will NOT divulge ANY 'technical' details or even Schematics. THAT is, to me, the biggest off-put for the current gear.

well I wanted to keep it. I actually packed it up and then decided to keep it so I unpacked it. now my system has a hum in my sub. thought it was my amp since its an old one on my sub..but nope..installed a new out the box amp and the hum is still there...sounds like ground loop. it might be something on my end but I have not had hum in quite some time but its also not the first time I have had hum using an emo preamp.
sound wise it was pretty good and did most all i needed . offered a little flexibility but the hum thing...I am not going to chase that down when it goes away when I am not using the emo preamp. im not using anything different than I was when I pulled it out the first time and put my parasound pre back in.
I am not saying for certain the pre is the problem but it points in that direction. I have had no noise in my system until again using this pre.

Such a hum could be about 1000 different things. Cold solder in the new piece.....maybe on one of the RCAs? the LAY of the cables when you connect it? Some cable crossing another the exxat wrong way?
Bumped it when moving the new piece and dislodged an edge connector?
I HATE it when that happens. What a PIA.
Tugged on an RCA the wrong way?

Hum is usually caused by a ground loop - or some other sort of ground issue - which usually occurs between components rather than in any one particular component.
Unfortunately that sort of issue can be tricky to track down...
Although a good start includes trying different power outlets and, in this case, simply moving the interconnect around a bit...

I had a ground loop hum a few years ago after my initial purchase of the XPA-1 Gen 2 amps. Turns out the culprit was a small Vizio TV in the room. The way I tracked this down was to turn everything in the system on, then one by one unplug each item until the hum went away. Once the Vizio TV was found to be the problem I just cut off the ground terminal on the power chord. Problem solved. However I strongly agree with Leonski your issue could be related to a number of other things such as cables not being shielded properly or laying across one another. One can never be too tidy when laying out a system and ensuring power chords do not tamper with interconnects and other highly sensitive cables. I've also seen where an RC connecter not properly seated might cause a hum and this is especially true for turntables and phono stages.

One other thing.....more of a 'preventive'.
I tend to use OPTICAL these days whenever possible. eliminates electrical connections which means NO CHANCE of any kind of 'ground issue'...
These days? When I think ground, I think of my Peugeot U-Select Pepper Mill.....

I dont blame the PT1 for the hum but rather decided to go back to my Cary Audio pre which I had no hum when using it. not at all saying it was the emo

Hi there, has any pt-100 owner actually moved to the pt1? What are your observations with regard to sound quality, especially the dac and phono stage compared to the pt-100? Thank you!!

this new compared to the xsp-1 ? It is newer than the XSP-1, but not a replacement for it. The replacement for the XSP-1 has been discussed in another thread and is said to be forthcoming...

I know its not a replacement. that was not what I asked. I hope the replacement powers on and off at least unlike my xsp-1 I have to send in for warranty work after 1 day of owning it. and no I dont blame the former owner.

Then what specifically is your question…? When you asked “this new compared to the XSP-1”, what answer did you expect to get…? If you’re simply asking if it’s newer, then the answer is yes, but there’s no comparison to the XSP-1.

I asked for a comparison of the new pt1 vs the xsp-1 . didnt know it was such a difficult question to get an answer for.. I certainly didnt ask which was newer. thats pretty easy to figure out even if this was my first day here. .
you said no replacement which is not what I asked. but ok.
anyone have an answer as to how the pt1 compares to the xsp-1 in sound quality..to be more specific..I dont need a run down on the features
