I knew I read of other people with this same problem and I must have forgot that was the reason I didnt spend more on emo preamps .
I just got the unit last night. used but with 3+ yrs warranty. not used much I was told. I believe that.
It played last night for an hour maybe. turned it to standby. went to turn it on and no beuno....turns on and goes right back off . did this oh ..33 times with no change.
i unplugged it and havnt tried again yet...but I am so not pleased . never had any troubles out of any of the parasound units I have tried. you can bet I am about to see if one of those is for sale now.
why would emo have a unit out with this known issue now for years now and not have a plan to address it? other than me send it back in and then quickly sell it ...not happy...

Damaged from shipping??? Hard to know for sure since it was a used unit. By all means, buy a Parasound if you prefer those

FWIW I am the one who sold it. It was working perfectly when it left here and I have never not once had an issue with it, certainly not what is described here. I would agree with the previous post something either was damaged in shipping or came loose such as a ribbon cable being dislodged on a circuit board or perhaps a fuse being dislodged. I would never nor would I ever sell a used component knowing there were issues like this.

There are better ways to get started than laying blame on Emotiva for an issue with a used piece of gear that has shipped TWICE without being re-certified. I’ve seen UPS and FEDEX perform stunts with packages that would do a gymnast 🤸♂️ proud.

Except the fact that there are multiple other people whom had the EXACT same thing happen with there units and had nothing to do with shipping. why dont you try and do a little checking before jumping to the conclusion that I am an idiot and came to the conclusion based on my sole experience which I didnt. do I have to link the threads for you guys or what?
and this has zero to with the seller and ive already talked to him. this has zero to do with him. i DONT have a beeff with him. we already talked.
actually I will pull up the threads that came off the very 1st few pages of the forum. the exact same issue for more than 1 person...which is why I brought it up.

Once again (as posted above) I was the original owner of this unit and it was shipped in perfect working condition with never an issue. I have been in contact with the person who purchased this and we talked at length this morning. I have 100% feedback on Audiogon, 100% feedback on USAudioMart as well as here on Emotiva forum. I would never in my wildest imagination ship and sale a product to someone knowing it was defective and it was certainly not. This needs to be nipped in the bud now before it turns into something ugly IMHO.
Regardless this is a very unfortunate circumstance for the buyer and I have no idea what has caused this issue. As Gary Cook suggested I would place bets on a fuse or some ribbon cable become dislodged from the circuit board. Its extremely unfortunate putting it mildly. None of us want to go through this.
Thanks

I have sent Emo another email to ask if I can open it and check the fuses before I send it in. I have a meter. I know how to check a fuse.
they have already sent me an RMA

If they sent an RA# already they know that is not a blown fuse.

I would give them a call. Ask them if it's an issue for the warranty for you to open it up and check for a loose cable or a fuse issue. If they let you do that at least it will be on record. Make sure to get the support person's name. If they don't let you open it and want you to send it in, that may be a pain, but you know they will take care of you. It's certainly dissapointing, but it will be taken care of. Good luck and let us know what happens.

“why dont you try and do a little checking before jumping to the conclusion that I am an idiot and came to the conclusion based on my sole experience which I didnt.” I understand your disappointment and frustration, but we did not start this rant and no one here did name calling that I read ( unless I missed something) “do I have to link the threads for you guys or what?”
whatever pleases you (not our job!)
“and this has zero to with the seller and ive already talked to him. this has zero to do with him. i DONT have a beeff with him. we already talked.”
understood. Everyone makes their own personal choices when buying used gear. I buy nothing used unless it’s guaranteed and I can return it to the seller. A buyer and seller of USED equipment don’t pool resources to go after a manufacturer (that’s a new one on me!)

Some of you im just going to ignore.
I didnt post this to go after the manufacturer.
Is it not possible to post a bad experience in pursuit of answers ?
I already had read the posts about this issue with other units. I posted my fear in other posts that had this sane issue. I wasnt sure from reading what the solution was in the final outcome.
Posted gere to see if those people might give more info on what was the cause.
Am i aggrivated? Yep. Even more by people who chimed in not knowing what i was takking about as if i was tge only one when i am not.
Emo has said its not the fuses. I asked if i can check. I also asked if i could check the ribbons.
This in response to all that seem to think shipping jiggled something loose.
Id much rather find that and not have to send it in.
But based in what i read its probabky going to ve a bad cap or something needing replaced on a unit that has had a years use and very little time on it.
As long as Emo says i can check then i will check. Thing is it worked for an hour or less when i got it.
Side note: there is also anotger xsp-1 for sale on ebay. It also has some power issue

If there’s a bill, who’s paying including shipping?

My former processor (Sunfire) developed a problem years after warranty, so I had nothing to loose and all to gain by going in. Although it turned out not to be the actual problem, I found multiple ribbon connectors and the power supply plug were VERY loose, so much so I was convinced I nailed it. Yet the problem turned out to be something else. The Emotiva connectors I found were much superior to the Sunfire, being mostly snap on rather than press on (better for shipping for sure.)

There is a quote above this that is not from me. Lets get that straight. I have not said a word about shipping.
Im about to send it back. And pay for the shipping.
Talk about starting crap out of thin air.

And for future reference
Emo told me there is no ribbon cables to jar loose.
So next time a person finds there unit wont start
Just send it in. Cause none of the suggestions are the issue according to emo who seems to know already what it is.

I took one last look at this thread and came to the conclusion that it never should have started in the first place. It’s something that, when things went wrong, it should have been handled in private between buyer and seller ONLY. Once the cat’s out of the bag, the O.P. has to be a good sport and take what’s coming. Many people are reading here, and take from it, whatever they wish which is their right!

Talk about starting crap out of thin air. Not a “quote” sir, a legitimate question put forward by me. Most of my RMA’s include taking shipping into account which can become quite expensive indeed. ….Not the “c…” word as you have referred to it as.
