Friday 11/26/2021, it's official my XMC-1 has been dropped off at UPS and is on the way back to Franklin Tennessee. The XMC-1 and all of its accessories are packed up in all the original packaging and boxes, hopefully it will be a quick & safe trip. I'm looking forward to the delivery of my new RMC-1L.

Update for Monday 11/29, I received my Dirac kit by UPS SurePost today. It arrived early, UPS had Wednesday 12/1 as the estimated delivery. My XMC-1 that's on it's way back to Emotiva also has Wednesday 12/1 as the estimated delivery, maybe it will get there early and arrive tomorrow that would be nice but so far it still shows as Wednesday delivery.

Update for Thursday Dec 2, my XMC-1 was just delivered to Emotiva, 10:09 AM Franklin Tennessee time.
UPS took a day longer than originally scheduled but it has arrived. Now my trade in XMC-1 is in Emotiva's hands to inspect before they send out my new RMC-1L. Hoping I'll be seeing Emotiva send my RMC-1L tracking number sometime soon.

OK, 12:19 Franklin time, only a couple hours after my XMC-1 was received By Emotiva they have emailed me that everything looks good and my new RMC-1L will be shipping today, they gave me the UPS tracking number.
It's still too soon to see when the estimated delivery will be, UPS should have an estimated delivery date on their tracking this evening.

I received my RMC-1L yesterday, it looks great. Last night I put it in my system and connected everything, have it up and working but still need to do some fine tuning in the settings but it looks great and sound good.

OK, so I've got pretty much everything setup and had a little time watching/listening.
I set up set up speaker distances with a tape measure and levels with my SPL meter. I've registered with Dirac and it will take a few days until my account is activated to my RMC-1L, so maybe next weekend I'll set up Dirac.
Being a previous XMC-1 owner helped with set up and made things easier. Rear panel and wiring are the same so it was very easy connecting everything. Which was important to me as all my wiring I made custom for my system.
Before I disconnected my XMC-1 I went through the settings and took notes on some settings so it would be easy to set them on the RMC-1L, on things like trigger settings etc. that would remain the same. I use all 4 triggers and have complex system activations so this made things much easier. I did need to make a couple program changes on my URC MX-990 remote as a couple of the buttons worked differently with the RMC-1L.
Overall it was pretty easy to make the swap, I'm enjoying the RMC-1L and feel it was a nice upgrade especially since my XMC-1 had the older transitional video board with only one 4K hdmi input. I think both the sound and picture are very good with the RMC-1L, possibly a slight bit better than the XMC-1 even without having Dirac set up yet.
The turnaround time period making the trade in was very quick with shipping being the main time consumer. It was only a few hours that Emotiva took after receiving my XMC-1 until my RMC-1L was ready to ship. The whole trade in process took only 11 days after I shipped my XMC-1 so I am very impressed with Emotiva's trade in program.
If anyone is considering an RMC-1L I would recommend it and if you are considering Emotiva's XMC-1 trade in program act fast it ends in a couple weeks at the end of the year.
Here's my new RMC-1L

Wow, do the gold thingies come with the unit? The metal covers, I mean?
Anyway, I am going through the trade-in process with an amplifier and wondered if I should wait for the trade-in credit to appear on my account before placing my order for the new unit. I would prefer to place the order for the new amplifier now so I wouldn't be without an amplifier whilst I wait for the trade-in unit to go through the process. Then have the trade-in credit work retroactively against the new purchase....just wondering.
Is this the process you followed? 1. Contact Emotiva to inform them of trade-in. 2. Supply details of the trade-in unit. 3. Approval of Trade-in and receive TRA# 4. Wait for UPS shipping label 5. Ship unit back. 6. Credit appears after trade-in inspection in account. 7. Place new order and use credit to discount the MSRP.

When I traded in my XPA-5 Gen 1 that had a malfunction instead of paying to get it fixed, I just called and ordered a new XPA-5 Gen 3 and did the trade-in process all at the same time. Did not wait for the credit to appear.

Also a top secret behind the scenes look. I cover my Gold Thingies and other Thingies too, don't want any naked Thingies! I assume the RCAs are shorting pins? What about the XLR and HDMI, do they have any electrical connection? I notice you seemingly have two types of XLR covers (balanced ins have a swirl), do you like one better or just availability? Possibly the swirl XLRs are shorting (inputs), and non-swirl are just covers (outputs)? I can see Mr geebo on his knees presenting a box to Mrs geebo , she expects earrings or maybe a special anniversary ring, but no, even better, more gold thingies!!! The next special occasion he hides the box under her pillow, the possibilities are endless! 😆 … also HDMI 3’s cover is upside down, could you please fix it before my OCD causes me to throw my iPad out the window 😊

I used the special processor upgrade trade-in that Emotiva was offering, I believe that has ended now.

Its my understanding such gold thingies are there to prevent EMI/RFI from entering into the unit and thereby degrading the sound. Don't have any experience with them but do remember reading about this a few years back. Perhaps it was Cardas that instigated the use of such gold thingies covers. I would like to know however in this day and age where these thingies might be had if still available.

The XLR inputs may have a shorting pin as there is one pin on the cover that inserts into the female XLR jack, however I'm not sure if the pin shorts or simply is there for locating and holding the cover. As for the different styles I have several different ones which are different brands, all of the RCA covers are generic China gold plated. The XLR input covers with the swirl are Cardas Audio brand, the plain gold output XLR's are again generic China and I also have some Audioquest brand USB covers, also some Audioquest XLR covers which aren't in the picture. The HDMI covers are Oehlbach a brand from Europe, they are also just covers and do not do any shorting. I haven't any real preference between the different brands. Overall the covers look nice, help make it easier to find your connections when connecting cables in hard to reach areas, they keep the connectors clean and may help to slightly reduce the noise floor in the system. I've been using them for years on all of my systems inputs & outputs.
"… also HDMI 3’s cover is upside down, could you please fix it before my OCD causes me to throw my iPad out the window 😊" That one was printed that way as just like the HDMI connector, they do only go on one way, I did have another I replaced it with so you're OCD will be OK.
