OK so today I have purchased the RMC-1L using Emotiva's XMC-1 trade in process. I will post updates here to show how the trade in experience goes for me as well as my opinion of my new RMC-1L. So today is Sunday 11/21/2021 and I made my purchase of a new RMC-1L with my XMC-1 as a trade in, I purchased it online through Emotiva's website. So far I received two emails from Emotiva, one was my purchase order confirmation and receipt and the other was the first instructions for the trade in process. For now I will be getting my XMC-1 with its accessories ready to ship and Emotiva will soon be sending me an email with a prepaid shipping label to return my XMC-1 to them. My XMC-1 I will be trading in is in perfect condition, I also have the original box and packaging in my storage so I will go pick it up today. I have checked and I have all the accessories to return they are all in either new never used or like new condition. Here's the list of accessories that need to be returned along with my XMC-1: XMC-1 Remote Dirac Calibration Microphone USB Microphone cable Microphone stand IEC power cable FM Antennae AM Antennae So I will wait for Emotiva to send me the shipping label, then I can start boxing everything up to send to Emotiva, being as it is Sunday today I don't expect that I will receive the shipping label until tomorrow at the very soonest. Looking forward to my new RMC-1L, as the saga begins.

Curious as to what made you decide on the 1L. I also went for the 1L and would do it again if I had it to do over. For me it was the dual displays and that nice front panel encoder. And my wife preferred the gold thingies on the back over the XMC-2.

Good luck this is exactly what I did as well. The RMC-1L in my system sounds noticeably better so no regrets. It will take them a few days to provide you with the shipping label. All in the process for me was about two weeks give or take a day or so.

And my wife preferred the gold thingies on the back over the XMC-2. Well until just recently I hadn't really looked much at the RMC-1L, I looked at the RMC-1 and XMC-2 when they first were announced and once they became available but hadn't really paid as much attention to the RMC-1L. I decided early on that the RMC-1 was more than I needed and started thinking about the XMC-2. I was considering the XMC-2 for a while but never really all that seriously since I'm happy with 7.2 and have no plans to add Atmos. The trade in offer by Emotiva is a great offer though and was making me think about it but the XMC-2 never really had me completely won over. So I guess when I heard that Emotiva will soon discontinue the XMC-1 trade in offer it made me start to think about it again. That's when I guess I really looked at the RMC-1L, basically an RMC-1 without the expansion ability (which I don't see myself ever needing). I like the cleaner less button look compared to the XMC-1 and also the XMC-2. I like the single control knob that the RMC-1 and RMC-1L have and the dual display as an added benefit. I also prefer the sturdier Tiffany style RCA jacks which the RMC-1L has and I prefer it's back design over the XMC-2's back. I also like getting rid of the many unused RCA jacks since I use XLR cables. I also like that on the RMC-1L every channel is fully balanced. It looks like sound quality should be the same with the RMC-1 and RMC-1L so the RMC-1L should have the best sound quality Emotiva currently offers for a home theater processor. I've heard people say the sound quality was an upgrade and it seems like the initial problems have pretty much been worked out now. My XMC-1 was purchased in 2017 and does not have the HDMI 2.0b video board, it has the transitional board which has only one 4k hdmi port, making the upgrade to the newer processor more worthwhile to me. Also my 5 year warranty is soon coming to an end so it will be nice to start fresh again with 5 more years of warranty. So I originally looked at and considered both the RMC-1 and XMC-2 and thought they just weren't quite what I wanted. Then I really looked at the RMC-1L and I finally decided it's time to take advantage of Emotiva's trade in offer and make the upgrade.

Makes sense. Also Emotiva raised the price on the XMC2 so the difference is now $800 and when you factor in the 20% in Emo bucks or $160 extra then net difference is now only $640. Good call!
I would have also bought the RMC1L if it was released at the same time as the XMC2. But my consolation is that I got the gold version of the XMC2 so it’s very reliable. 2 years and 9 months left on the warranty so fingers crossed!
I think there should be the HDMI 2.1 upgrade and DLBC in the future but no timetable.

So, we've got the initial testimony from the originating source, or, as I call him - the sourceror, plus, we now have a corroborating witness, or, as we will refer to him in silly terms - a corroboratorer (I had to struggle with autocorrect to make those fake words stick). This establishes that those items on the back of the unit are indeed called "Gold Thingies". I would now move that this term be placed in the official record of the Owner's Manual.

OK so I received a couple emails from Emotiva today Monday 11/22 confirming my purchase again since they are back in the office now, my previous emails I'm sure were auto replies on Sunday. I was also asked if I would be needing a Dirac Kit or not and that if I did it would be added to my order at no charge, of course I will be needing one. I also received an email from UPS containing my shipping label to send in my XMC-1. So I have printed my shipping label and I can be ready to send my XMC-1 to Emotiva. I will probably be dropping off my packaged up XMC-1 directly to the UPS hub on Friday since I won't be working. So things are moving quickly with Emotiva.

The XMC-1 would have been $1,000 less and the RMC-1 would have been $1,000 more than my price for the RMC-1L.

Dirac is included in the XMC2 upgrade but it’s a $1200 upgrade now since the XMC2 price has been changed to $3200 (used to be $1000). As everyone knows the Emotiva is giving $2000 for the XMC1’s trade-in value.

Yes it's $1,200 for the XMC-2 trade in, $2,199 for the RMC-1L trade in and $3,199 for the RMC-1 trade in Unless the XMC-1 you trade in has the v3 HDMI 2.0b video board, then it's $800/XMC-2, $1800/RMC-1L and $2,800/RMC-1 Also Holiday 20% Emobucks does not apply to the trade ins.

Well the prices I posted are what are on Emotiva's Product Page to make a purchase from, so these are the actual prices you will pay. It obviously isn't exactly a $2,000 trade in credit anymore. In my case the price for the RMC-1L was $2,199.00 plus tax.

He called them because this was clearly an error and they told him he is getting $2000 for his XMC1 trade-in and that the upgrade price includes Dirac. I think the website is wrong but maybe the trade-in value is less for the RMC1L/RMC1. I didn’t realize you actually paid $2199 per the website. Ok sounds good.
