Now that I have finally decided to pull the trigger, the MC-1 is once again "temporarily unavailable". Does anyone have any idea how long it will be this time?

The Emotiva Summer Sale is on. After weeks of no MC-1 product available, the MC-1 was opened up for purchase over the long July 4th Holiday weekend. A 10% off code is applicable, too. So, I decided to place an order. I guess the MC-1 is still not available for immediate shipment. I received an email acknowledgement that the delivery will be three weeks or (?) dependent on the supplier fulfillment and transit times. I am guessing the issues are a matter of timing from China, US Customs handling, stateside transportation time, and possible product testing and/or added value provided by Emotiva in Tennessee before shipping to the end customer. I had hoped that after waiting such a long time for availability that shipment to my door would have been just a few days. So, I wait some more. I hope that I will not be disappointed with the MC-1 performance and this next shipment has the issues resolved that others have experienced.

On the China side due to the CCP'S zero covid policy the major ports like Shanghai have been locked down for months so the bottleneck will take awhile potentially

The major issues as I see them are: 1. Lack of any true analog bypass 2. A truly terrible EQ algorithm 3. The requirement to down sample all digital signals above 48kHz The only one that might possibly be resolved via a firmware update is #2, and I would think that update would be available to existing owners before it showed up in production units.

I have found an additional bug that is quite annoying. I use the Auto EQ slot to do manual EQ with REW instead of using EQ 1,2, or 3 slots because you can't EQ left and right separately with those, they have to be EQ'd together in these modes which makes no sense. However, the Auto EQ slot has custom EQ you can do for each channel separately. Anyway, everytime I start the MC-1 (out of standby), EQ processing is entirely bypassed despite being set to Auto EQ. You have to go into the menu every time and change out of Auto EQ (select a different slot) and back to Auto EQ, otherwise it won't be applied. I have confirmed this multiple times with REW. No additional setting fixes this including setting the default EQ in the Inputs menu. It's a bug that really should be fixed. I can't confirm if this occurs using the MC-1 auto calibrations mic because I did my own manual EQ but I'm guessing the bug would apply because it's the same concept.
Other than that I have no other major issues with the MC-1. It's actually been great.

I've found them extremely helpful by phone.

It's a bug that is not easily noticeable but really negatively affects the experience. I'm sure there a lot of people who think Auto Eq is being applied but it's not.

I had the Tonewinner AT-300 from Jan 2020 for around one year and there we're a lot of firmware Updates. But the AT-300 had all the time the same bug like you described. So I had to sell the AT-300.

Emotiva just released the MR-1 which seems to be the MC-1 plus amplification, so probably shares the same firmware as the MC-1. I would imagine they took the MC-1's firmware and revved it for the MR-1. Perhaps they are running regressions on that new firmware on the MC-1 and will release it shortly.

Anyone else having problems with the MC-1 when it switches into Dolby Atmos? I have a new Apple TV 4K connected to the MC-1 and most Apple TV+ content is in Atmos. When it works, it's great however, sometimes when you pause/resume, FF/REW, skip into etc., the MC-1 gets confused. It sometimes loses the center channel entirely, sometimes it gets echo-ey and center channel information is sent to the surrounds and everybody sounds like a robot voice sort of thing. Appreciate any help with this. Thanks!

Also, unrelated, I notice that I don't get rear left and right height channels with DTS X. A new firmware would be nice...

Just came across this discussion/review thread on AVForums from two days ago, which includes the MC-1. They start talking about the MC-1 at 54:50.

AppleTV switches frequently between audio modes so it happens to me quite frequently. Even pausing and then resuming a show using Atmos often causes the problem so it's quite annoying. While I need to try and see if there is a pattern or correlation to the Atmos issue, I also see the video gets pixel-y sometimes when pausing/resuming. These problems are not hard to reproduce so I too hope Emotiva comes out with new firmware that fixes these issues. Emotiva folks, any comment? Thanks.

Appreciate any help with this. Thanks! This is really interesting because the XMC/RMC processors do the same thing sometimes. It's not specific to the MC1, Apple TV or Atmos ... it happens for me sometimes when I switch from two channel to 5.1 music coming from my PC over HDMI. There must be some shared aspect of all of these processors that points to this problem, whether it's hardware or software. But all it would take to fix it is make a list of all the hardware and software modules of all the processors and see where they intersect ... easy like cake! Bad news is ... it's been around a few years and through many firmware updates and it still happens occasionally. So yeah, we switch inputs or reboot ... and put up with it.

Occasionally I will lose audio completely when watching Directv if I pause the show for too long. I rarely pause, so I'm not sure on length of time, frequency, etc. Switching audio modes doesn't help. Powering up and down fixes the issue sometimes, if not, rear system reboot cures it. I don't have Atmos yet. Plan to by end of next year in a new home.
