Traded in my XMC 1 for the new RMC 1. Main reason is I had issues with XMC and my Samsung 8k TV and constantly having to reboot XMC.
Also, I am a big DSD, SACD, .DSF listener. I like the ability to run direct files into the Emotia products and have it prowess files. However, I've noticed a few times many high frequency SNAPS, CRACKS and then LOCK UP. I know when Freq changes happen on one of my external DACs can make a snap when changing, but the RMC seems very prominent. I run vintage Mirage M3si and I fear blowing a tweeter. Other than that enjoying the RMC, can't wait for the 8K video upgrade.

“Traded in my XMC 1 for the new RMC 1. Main reason is I had issues with XMC and my Samsung 8k TV and constantly having to reboot XMC. “ Wow! (that is an expensive “fix”) Did your XMC contain the updated board? How did you know the RMC would get you past your compatibility issues? Also curious if you’re using your newly acquired ATMOS. “I've noticed a few times many high frequency SNAPS, CRACKS and then LOCK UP. I know when Freq changes happen on one of my external DACs can make a snap when changing, but the RMC seems very prominent”. Sounds like you’ve traded one problem for another. I felt your popping pain in the past but that’s been gone now for a very long time….hope you can straighten yours out.

I had an APPLE Airport Express being fed by a Cambridge Audio 840 CD player with built in DAC and other features. Expensive, too.
But it never worked well together. Airport Express would emit all sorts of nasty noises. Snaps / crackles? sure. But also a 'finger on a chalkboard' noise which would set my teeth on edge.
And given that it was a HIGH END CD player? Cambridge wanted to CHARGE me for the software update.....done thru a type of serial port. And if I tried it and screwed it up? Sorry........
I was assured this was the 'fix'......so I sold the player.
No Mas Cambridge Audio for ME.
There is some kind of dither or jitter problem which causes this. The AE had very high measured jitter........Which I suspect made 'locking in' impossible....
