Well, if you had no treatments before, and all those panels now, that would be a big difference! It's like getting all new equipment. Congrats and enjoy!
And I see Grayson had a friend, P. Terry Dactyl.

Yes indeed! My room benefitted noticeably from room treatment. I see you also treated the ceilings. Tip if you have a whole room thick carpet on the floor it helps a lot too. Thick curtains on the window help a little as well. Now.. try playing around with speaker positioning again. You may notice an improvement.

I do have area carpet and will add a thick pad under as well. So far.. very happy. I may address the window as well with a special curtain GIK makes. The engineer that came up with the plan thought the red panels placed at first reflection point should do the brunt of the work. But yeah… something on the window can only help more… certainly no harm trying. Thanks Gar

Congrats on those. Definitely the biggest change in SQ. Now you can really listen your speakers potential. The mirror method for the reflection points is really helpful when positioning speakers or panels.

I was surprised by how close they ended up to speakers… but distance between listener and speaker is less than 10 ft. So maybe that played a big factor. I thought i was making a mistake but I redid it with another person and ended up the same

Here's a quick and easy method to help with speaker placement.

I recently added acoustic panels in the spare bedroom I use for my stereo setup. The improvements are like night and day. All panels are from GIK. I sent the the room layout as a scale drawing and included furnishing locations, and stereo layout. John Dykstra drew up a solution - the panels and where to put them… I chose colors, and designs. The last couple of panels were installed today. I can’t stop playing music.. everything sounds different, and soooo much clearer. It’s almost like being in an actual recording studio. Compared to the other guest room which is fully furnished.. there’s zero flutter/echo in here. Wow! They LOOK like big pieces of cheese 🧀….. Jarlsberg or Swiss? 🐭

Congrats on the room improvements. Curious what was the investment in the Acoustic Panels ? You don't have to answer if you feel uncomfortable. I also have the same Emotiva equipment you do and I am really enjoying it.

I also have the same Emotiva equipment you do and I am really enjoying it. This was prior to their price increases… about 1600 before shipping. Shipping was about 150 (i think), and will vary quite a bit depending on where you are. I’ll tell you this… it was worth the money. Also… you can DIY this too. I have a couple of bass traps that are tuned for a specific range, so not sure how to DIY that. I love DIY, but in this case I decided to be let them come up with a design and get it right. Another drawback was the time it took to get them all in .. I orderef in Dec,,, by march, they were trickling in. I couldnt put up the ceiling panels due to brackets being on backorder … the bracket came in last week. I ended up putting the panels up as they’d arrive. The celing panels were last.. was surprised with the improvement those things made. And finally, the two large rectangular panels with bubble patters are the incorrect design wood plate … and three of the small rectangular wood Plates were corner damaged. Not bad, but those will be replaced. Problem is I hve to wait til May for all this to be corrected due to supply chain issues lol. But I’ll enjoy til then.

I like the ones with the round black openings - they look cool.
(I do have to smarmily ask if the flutter echo has anything to do with that ceiling fan though... )

Is that a MAFIA hat on the right speaker? Lol... I was thinking the same, but in a different context. Anyone Who is familiar with the infamous Hammond B3 organ and Leslie Cabinet duo know about those horns that spin around with a belt driven motor in the Leslie Cabinet. That air movement with the horns is what causes the vibrato.

@keithl. I cant tell when the fan is off or on. Sounds the same to me. I’ll keep playing around with different LPs just to see it it’s something I can hear

405x5Good point.. but of course the hammond horn is the source whereas the blades are reflecting.. not sure it that is the same .. but whether or not… I cannot hear any difference with fan on or off. I never thought of that comparisons though. All I ever thought was the pitched fan blades scattered\reflected sound all all over, and when spinning scattered/reflected in some more random way. I just don’t know Haha! And yes it’s like a big hunk of swiss on the walls. They call it bubble pattern. Btw.. the two large rectangular ones are the wrong pattern. The wood piece is supposed to be a pattern of vertical slots. They are sending correct plates later.

I think Keith was pulling your leg 🦵 a bit, as was I with the cheese 🧀! …..the ceiling fan is nowhere near the source output.

Well... yes and no.
The ceiling fan is nowhere near the source... but it is still a highly reflective surface... and has a relatively large surface area.
And, more to the point, when it's spinning, it's going to produce a varying cyclic pattern of phase shift in the sound that reflects from it... (Basically, with a moving reflector, you're going to essentially get all sorts of interesting Doppler effects... at least to some degree.)
Therefore, in a normally reflective room, if that fan was spinning, I WOULD expect it to quite possibly produce "fluttery wavering cancellation effects", which might be quite audible.
If you want an analogy substitute light - and a rotating set of MIRRORED fan blades. Almost regardless of where that fan is in the room... or where the light sources are... the fan will produce interesting patterns of light on the walls.
Therefore, as long as there is a path whereby the sound can reflect off those fan blade, or reflect from the surface behind them, and be chopped by the blades... And then mix with sound arriving via other signal paths... It's quite possible that it might produce audible effects... Although, obviously, it would be less likely to do so if it wasn't between the source and the listener.
Whether or not there would be any audible results would depend on lots of other factors... Of course it would be easy enough to determine whether this was the case... by simply seeing if the noise went away when the fan was off. (Which, I assume, would have been the first thing someone would try.)
But, no, I wouldn't rule it out without actually trying it. (And, yes, reducing the amount of sound that reaches the fan, via any path, would eliminate or reduce the effect - if it was happening.)
