Seems like every time I turn around this weekend I bump into somebody saying these speakers are the bomb! Very reasonable for what it brings to a room. Myth? Or for real? Heck if I know, but interesting.
Let me clarify just a little. These are not $10,000. Speakers and don’t sound as if they are from what I’ve learned. They are however very good value speakers and punch way above their $2,000. Purchase price.

imho, today's use of computer design programs have allowed manufacturers to market a quality product at a reduce price, than in the past. There are so many affordable speakers today with good SQ. There will always be cabinet quality speakers for premium prices- there's still a market. I like a comment Andrew made- These are quality speakers that rival more expensive speakers and some of them I want, regardless the higher cost. Some brands still carry a reputation of being the best in class but they no longer are, nor are they the value they once were. I find some well known brands over priced vs their SQ. I hope the Polk R700 do shake-up the market.
I like the down pointed port idea, it's makes sense to me and don't understand why it's not used more.

Any further thoughts on these? Would you choose these over the T2+?

I am curious about how these are. Polk is pulling from their past to push through the future. I like what they are doing these days.

I had a pair of LSiM705 towers (the 707 was the TOTL) for a year or so. I was surprised at how good they sounded, especially in the low bass region, it was very detailed and reminded me of the bass I get from my Salk speakers. The difference between them was the size of the drivers, and the Polk speakers played lower than the Salk speakers. I had a choice to make, which ones to sell. I had a guy come over to take a listen to the Song Towers, after I showed him the Polk speakers he left with the Polks, including the big center. I was $1200 ahead, still had the Song Towers, and haven't regretted selling the Polks.
This new model has me very interested since it uses the same bass port tech that the LSiM towers used. My Song Towers aren't getting any younger. Soon enough I'll have had them for about 10 years. Time for a change? Maybe!
The fit and finish with the LSiM speakers was every bit as good as the Salk speakers, something that Salk Sound is noted for, but not so much for Polk Audio. I had the mat cherry finish and they were gorgeous. Not easy to do with all the curves on them, not a square edge to them other than at the very bottom. The seams were as tight as you'd find in a Rolls Royce.
I had always steered clear of Polk because I mainly saw reviews of the Monitor series, which have been skewered more than a few times, both for fit and finish and the sound. The main reason I bought them is they came in a package deal with a Yamaha RX-A2070 that I enjoyed for 3 years. I ended up 'losing' about $400 between the three Polk speakers and the Yamaha AVR when I sold the Yamaha three years later. Not a bad deal IMO, and it gave me a new perspective on Polk audio. I might just buy a pair of these monster sized speakers when the MSRP prices give way to the inevitable fire sale Polk puts on when the next model debuts. It won't be long! The 705's had an MSRP of $2900 IIRC, these new speakers are $1099 each, MSRP.
I am considering buying a pair of Philharmonic Audio BMR Monitors or the towers. The Monitors are $1700 plus shipping, the towers are $3700 plus shipping.
Decisions decisions. What to do. The Song Towers still sound great.

Any further thoughts on these? Would you choose these over the T2+? The only issue I have with the T2+ is the AMT tweeter, it's room acoustic sensitive- maybe it will work, maybe not. I'm using them on the patio with good results. The Polk tweeter looks like a derivative of the Peerless Vifa ring radiator, that is highly regarded for DIY. I would like to hear them.

Well I wanted white, but they are discontinued.. I waffled between the plood (plastic wood) and black... they had black coming in so the decision was made for me. Black will disappear in the room better and I like the texture in the photos. Maybe I am settling... but the price was right.

Maybe it is just me but for an average working person with bills and a wife and children to shed 2k for a pair of speakers it is very challenging if not impossible. I am glad you can get good gear in the used market!

Any further thoughts on these? Would you choose these over the T2+? All reviews I've seen is as others have indicated, the Polks provide sound quality way way above their price point. You can purchase the Polks from Crutchfield (60 day in home trial period) and the T2+ (30 day) and perform testing in your own home / setup. I believe return shipping to Crutchfield is $15 - $20 per tower and Emotiva, well, that would depend on your zip-code. My son and I used the Crutchfield in-home trial period multiple times and it was quick and painless.

THank you novisnick thank you thank you thank you! Thank you for creating this post.... got the speakers hooked up tonight and was prepared to sit through the break-in process as I usually do until I liked them. That took about 5 minutes... these things are insane! I will try to write a better impression of them soon.... I also bought the Legend L400 Center to go with them!
