You'll never know unless you try... Yeah, I'm just not looking forward to return shipping from California if I decide to send them back, which will probably be 1/4 of the price, which for some reason doesn't sit well with me. I was hoping someone would say I'm definitely crazy and just be done with it. You are definitely crazy and just be done with it! 😂😂.

There is a flat $200 fee for return. I don't see that on Emotiva's website, just says buyer pays return shipping. Unless you mean the courier will see the Emotiva logo on the box and automatically charge $200. Or? Actually it went down to $150. It’s on the product page where it says “Shipped LTL”

That made me LOL Wife won't go for it anyway, I just talked to her. We redecorated and white is the new color scheme, which is the color of the new B&Ws (which I'll add look absolutely gorgeous ). Most people have to deal with wives not supporting this hobby because of the cost. Mine just wants to make sure I accessorize.

She isn’t alone…
Were I to get a pair, I might just try installing a ¼" thick solid hardwood panel on the box portion of the speakers. It would have the dual benefit of not only making the speakers prettier but also reducing cabinet resonance.

Can someone please explain the difference between a ribbon tweeter and conventional tweeter?

I’m sure that KeithL has wet dreams about getting to answer such a question, and I’m equally sure that his answer will be more accurate than mine, but since he hasn’t yet answered… A conventional dome tweeter is a rigid dome (convex, concave, or even flat circle) with a voice coil hung in a magnetic gap at the perimeter. As alternating current electricity passes through the insulated wire of the voice coil, the rigid dome moves forward and backward in the magnetic gap. A ribbon tweeter is a flexible sheet that is folded into crinkles and suspended in a magnetic gap. The sheet can be conductive itself or else have conductors (wires) glued to it or printed on it. When alternating current electricity flows through it, the crinkles contract and expand, “squeezing” air out of its folds. Conventional tweeters have more mass (usually) and have issues with resonances. Ribbon tweeters, being lower mass, don’t suffer from as much resonance in the audio band. This is a grossly simplified explanation. Google it.

Spoke to a birdie in Tennessee yesterday about XSP-1 Gen3 (see my post). Also brought up the black (only) finish for the T3+. “Emotiva is looking at providing alternative finishes down the road but not an easy task in our production environment”.
I told the birdie “I would opt to pay an additional 1k for a really nice finish”. Happy wife happy life. 😅

The cabinet shop can veneer your speakers in real wood. The car shop can vinyl wrap them to look like anything you desire. Ask the boss first..,

I have a pair of T2+'s, powered by two XPA1-GEN2's, paired with 2 SVS subs 2000. The setup sounds great for 2 channels listening.
I doubt, although I may be wrong, that the T3+'s will outperform them. So, I guess what I am trying to say for new buyers, wouldn't be better, sound wise, to get the T2+'S, with one or 2 Subs?
thoughts?

Excellent question!
In favor of speakers with sub(s):
The speakers can be placed where they image best & the subs can be placed where they do the best bass in the room In the future, if you want different speakers, the subs give you flexibility to consider a wider variety of future speakers The speaker + sub combo may be less expensive than full-range speakers The speaker + sub combo may have better WAF than giant full-range speakers Unless you need to play really, really loudly, the speaker + sub combo will work just fine
In favor of full-range speakers (T3+ models, for example):
Some preamps and integrated amps don't offer a volume-controlled sub output (making it hard to drive the subs) In some rooms, you can't conveniently run wires to where the subs need to be (necessitating a wireless sub solution) With three or four speakers and subs In the room, the likelihood of equipment failure is increased Sometimes balancing the speakers and subs is a PITA, whereas a full-range speaker has no such issues. Depending on the subs, wireless devices, etc. that you need, sometimes a full-range speaker is less expensive With more cone area, the T3+ should be able to play more loudly with less distortion (if that's important to you) Because of its greater dynamic capabilities, sometimes a full-range speaker can sound more dynamic at low volumes
Either combo can work great - it just depends on what you want and how the costs break down.

Can someone please explain the difference between a ribbon tweeter and conventional tweeter? A couple of details here. Emotiva and the folded ribbon tweeter has more dynamics, superior lateral dispersion than usual dome tweeters. That is just for starters.
