Because Canada is officially bilingual, many things are offered in both English and French... including video media. For Canadians, this means we don't get the awesome Midway ATMOS mix... we get 5.1 English, and 5.1 French. I had to order the movie from the USA and import it.... and it looks like I will have to do the same with Top Gun Maverick... maybe. I have been unable to find out what the audio tracks are on the 4K disk on Amazon.ca.... there is often little information about the specific audio tracks in the product description, and if it says "bilingual", you run a significant chance of not getting Atmos. I wish you could select which format you want, and I wish retailers would properly describe the products online!

Even here in the US I’m seriously considering since I love buying cheap used discs on EBay.

Sadly, it is quite old and about to give up the ghost. I need to buy a new one. If anybody has recommendations I'd be interested.

Well, I had a chance to rewatch this this afternoon and guess what? No audio dropouts at all so I am not sure what happened the first time. Handshake glitch, perhaps between your processor and the Blu-ray player? Who knows I wouldn’t even try to figure it out unless it happens again. I think I set a Guinness book of records for leaving a disk in the machine, and passing out before I ever had a chance to watch! My wife is laughing at me… Anyway, a week later we watched it or I should say listened to it if you know what I mean all I can say is holy sh**

My wife and I spent time on the Bonus features of this film the following evening. I truly felt a sense of being nailed to my seat for that film and the reasons for that were detailed beautifully in those features.

I was so excited to watch the Top Gun Maverick 4K disc with my family. Popped the disc into OPPO UDP-203, and to my disappointment, all I was getting was an 'Unknown Disc' error. The Blu-ray disc plays like a charm, checked with my other 4k discs and got the same error message for all. I barely used my OPPO UDP-203, which I bought when they wound down their business. It's frustrating to see it failing in such a short time and gentle use. The Top Guns are grounded for now.

Sorry to hear this (that sucks) Feeling your pain after getting burned by a Marantz player way back when that ran me over 700.00 at the time. Sent it back and put a whole new mechanism in and it worked great for about a day, then Deja Vu all over again. Ended up trashing it, saving only the nice looking feet for repurposing.

As far as I know, I think OppoDigital is still servicing their products, so you may want to inquire with them on a fix. oppodigital.com/ContactUs.aspx?CatID=1Also you may want to try popping off the hood and see if the laser/pickup assembly just needs cleaning or maybe some compressed air to blow off dust.

I only rented it in 4K on Prime and I thought the sound was very dynamic and powerful. Sounds like one more movie might be made. I'm looking forward to getting a trilogy 4K set in the future. As far as long over duel sequels go, they did very good.

Like stated above, contact Oppo, it’s what I would do as you have nothing to lose. Good Luck.🍀
