New podcast just released. They talked alittle about 'the processor' -they don't mention exactly which processor but I hope/assume they are talking about the + series- is in testing now and more beta testers will be added around Thanksgiving. Also said that the product pages will be released in December and hopefully the processors will go on sale in January IIUC. I will re-listen to get more details, and suggest you all check it out. I just listened - the processor they refer to is clearly the + series. Sounds like it's overall going well with fast switching. Some details to be addressed, but they didn't say anything about what specifically needs addressed. Mark

I recall Keith's comments a while ago about the perspective that a the final sound quality of a piece of kit is the sum of its parts and not just which dac it has. Having been involved in some design work with a couple of companies as an alpha tester in house ( mainly computer and not audio) I really learnt the hard way to appreciate this design perspective 🤣. Take the example of op-amps and how they are used in an audio signal in so many stand alone and integrated units. Design and choice together with board layout plus power supply choices can all influence to varying degrees the baked cake 🎂🎂. Here's a nice little meander down the op amp path.....a UK tech ( I like Mark - he's a Brummie - but I don't hold that against him) breaks down a £25K phono preamp for repair and reverse engineers the design in the process. He provides a nice little op amp design chat as part of the video. You can decide for yourself if you think this preamp is worth US $31,000 🤣👍💯 youtu.be/-RJbpFSFziI?si=nE5AKmvjikHakVRn

Just reading through the updated FAQ and noticed the upgrade program is gone? Am I blind or has this been removed? Can those of us with early XMC-2's no longer upgrade to the + model for $699?

It looks like all Processor inventory is gone and the web page has been reduced to bare-bones. This may be a good sign, first remove outdated information and then, update. Bolded for emphasis. - Rich

Bad news for all here that consider going to a competitor instead of waiting for the Plus series. Also bad new for everyone else, as less competition will mean less innovation in the long run. Masimo and Voxx International are considering ceasing operations of their audio divisions in 2025 due to low sales and mounting losses. Never heard of these guys? You are not alone. But considering the brands involved, this sounds like a clear-cut to the "mid to upper consumer market" and "lower high end" market of audio devices to me. We might potentially lose (list is not comprehensive):
Masimo - Denon
- Marantz
- Bower & Wilkins
- Boston Accoustics
Voxx International - Onkyo
- Pioneer
- Klipsch
- Magnat
Let's hope Emotiva is doing well...

I have to believe there are some number of individual product lines in there that are or can be profitable, they will inevitably be sold off, the others probably as well.

Well that's dissapointing. One of the big selling points for the Emotiva gear was upgradeability and I had been holding out for an HDMi2.1 board but now thats a 2kUSD cost?

It’s the era of soundbars. It's also an era of "all-in-one" boxes and / or wireless speakers with direct streaming service.
Looks like more traditional hifi single box components (preamp, cd player, etc) will be only available as low end or 100k € premium sets. Nothing in between.

This is drifting off-topic and fast, but I was shocked to see Klipsch on the list as well. Never new they were owned by some intergalactic megacorporation. They seem to advertise themselves as "family owned American company". I really hope they do find a way to stay in business. I just love the speakers and the heritage.

While I’m sure not intentional the three posts I just deleted were most certainly catalysts for political discussion. Just an FYI!!!

They were catalysts to get Emotiva to answer questions about G4P production, introduction, costs, and the future of certain foreign OEM suppliers for Emotiva. It's an uncertain world. Too bad you couldn't see it that way. Your need to tightly control everything you dislike, or makes you uncomfortable, IS politics. FYI.

Heard something about this also in particular about Klipsch which really surprised me. You would think with more people streaming vs going to see movies in theaters more people would want better sound at home. Do agree that sound bars seem to be the way the masses are going. Tough year for audio for sure. Really hoping these other brands can pull through as more competition means better products all around.

I would refer you to the Lounge Rules of Etiquette before posting any kind of response if you want to continue to be a Lounge member in good standing.

How about an update on the 'future of processors' page: emotiva.com/pages/future-of-processors
